Every recipe I've cooked by AB, has been FIRE!! I enjoy trying old recipes with an AB twist. What happen to The Grillin TV Network??? I was looking for Alcenia's recipe I tried and could not find. I don't even see the mac n cheese with Pat Neely. Has GTVN cease to exist??
Grew up eating this food. Luv of my life food. I'd like to commend you on your serene music & cleanliness. Recipe30 does the same. 2 different types of food & flare. But very clean with peaceful music. ❤❤❤
Grew up snapping beans, shelling peas & shucking corn. Everyone in my family saved bacon grease. We didn’t strain it. Kept it in a metal coffee can in the fridge or on top of the stove. I always keep mine, too. That’s liquid gold! I’m a Texas girl!
I never strain my bacon grease, neither did my Mom or either of my Grandmoms. I grew up snapping beans and shelling peas all my life and will happily do that to this day!
YEAAAAAAAH MAN !!!! ITS NOT MOTHERS DAY BUT TO ALL MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS AUNTS AND EVAN SISTERS YOU ARE APPRECIATED 🌹I CAN ATTEST THAT EVERYONE CAN SAY THAT NOBODY CAN COOK LIKE MY. ____________ CAN!!! AB YOU TAKE US BACK DOWN MEMORY LANE !!! ✌🏾💛🙏🏾
My Mom and Dad had a garden and my job was to snap peas and clean them for storage. We didn’t buy vegetables in the grocery store for years and nobody ever got sick
I still snap beans. My momma showed me how to do beans and collard greens. You have to have that good pot liquor. Thanksgiving just brings me so much joy thinking about my mom. RIP Mom. Thank you uncle AB❤
Now you Chef 👩🍳 AB you’re speaking my language Southern Style I love ❤️ Southern Style Green Beans with Potatoes 🥔 and Bacon 🥓 or smoked turkey necks or smoked turkey leg 🍗 with onions Amen 🙏🏼 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Grew up in Fla and NC, before it became Yankeefied. Moved to Wyoming 6 yrs ago. Expanding these cowboys palate on what good BBQ and Southern cooking is all about. Your recipes are on point! God Bless and keep up the good work ! New sub.
We always saved our bacon grease with all of the little pieces left in the pan. We'd pour the grease in the bacon grease can without straining! Delicious for seasoning up our collard greens, etc... Reminds me of Mommy cooking her delicious meals for her family!❤
AB, I love you, Man! ! You have taught me to upgrade my cooking game. Thank you! Wondering why your website site, Down Home Southern Green Beans and Potatoes instructed the reader to peel and cut the potatoes. I’m going to take my cue from your RUclips video, which leaves the peel on. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving!
You're making those Green Beans just like my Grandma, Mom and Myself make them! Snapping those beans too!! They smell Delish from the phone😄. Enjoy!!👍🏼
My Aunt Madie taught me to snap beans and to pull that string that was hanging on for dear life. How I miss Sunday dinners and holidays with her and all my elders.
I watch your videos 2 to 3 times daily during the holidays for sure. I’ll be making this recipe for my family this Thanksgiving. Thank you for the simple yet flavorful dishes❤.
This video is right on time. I've been trying to think of what I was going to do with the potatoes I bought a week ago. And I have green beans on deck. Thanks AB!
Always snap my beans & my Nana didn’t strain ish…she put all the trimmings in a Foldgers coffee can.She had one for bacon grease & one for fish grease😂
Talk about trippin' down memory lane!! My mom made green beans and white potatoes like that...she also would use a slurry to thicken the liquor and my dad would put it over the roast. YUMMY!!!!
We used a ‘bacon grease’ can & put ALL the grease & bits in! Ours never stayed full because of how often we cooked with it! I buy a product called Bacon Up in the cooking oil section at groc store. It’s really good. ( don’t cook bacon much anymore but need the bacon grease flavor )
I grew up snapping green beans for dinner or supper. We had breakfast, dinner which people call lunch, and supper which people now call dinner, it's crazy but that's just what we called the meals in our southern house. Green beans with bacon, onions and new potatoes was a meal, as was Collards with ham hocks, or neck bones a meal. We didn't have much money so this fed a large family along with corn bread to soak up that delicious 😋 pot licker to make awesome filling meals. If we were lucky we also would enjoy a Custard pie, sweet cake or home made ice cream for dessert.
Love your cooking show! You are an absolute Man that knows his food. 😊 I am keeping track of all your recipes of how to cook everyday food and make it good. Thank you Sir.
Oh my gosh. I'm 74 and back in the day mom canned slot of our home grown food. Green beans was one of them. I remember sitting in the kitchen with bushels of green beans and snapping For Ever. 😄
This looks so good, and you made this like my Momma always did. I love your cooking. The other 0:15 made the Lima beans the way you did, and they were so good. I've made them all my life, but yours were exceptional. Keep cooking!!! I want more recipes!!!
Damnnn AB, you're cooking your ass off this Thanksgiving and I'm finding "I'm Thankful" for you. Which cookbook can I find all of these latest receipts of yours? Yo Bro, you are without a doubt a master @ smokin & grillin but please add "Cookin n da Kitchin" too!
When I cook your food. I watch your videos and just pause them as I go along. Utube, is fantastic for this. I also, do the same when I work on my Jeep. You’re a master chef and I love you much.
This is one of my favorites...takes me back to Grandma's table. I can make and eat these beans as a complete meal (I brown the bacon, add the garlic....I've never tried adding sugar but maybe next time....add the chicken stock, and cook the beans first for 20 mins or so then add the potatoes (I usually use baby red/fingerling potatoes) for the last 20-30 mins....but I like my beans thoroughly cooked and soft)
By me having high blood pressure, and being a diabetic. I only can used smoked turkey curve bacon. Cant have a lot of grease clogging up my arteries stopping the blood flow, on having a heartattack or stroke..🙁✍👀
Yes indeed!! Fun fact, that’s what u thought edamame was at first just with a different name😂 My granddaddy would snap and eat one by the time we would finish he would be full 🥲👨🏽🍳🕊️❣️
Yeah AB, momma would bring a large brown bag of 'string/green' beans home from the market and have us stand at kitchen counter for at least an hour snapping them. I use to be so angry cause it took too long and i wanted to go hangout with our friends. Momma-Chris was a great cook. Them green beans you made looked just like hers. I could even taste yours so-to-speak. I'm taking green beans to daughter's for Thanksgiving, Im using your recipe. So thanks, man! Where can I find your recipe for Cornbread Dressing?
i was too young for that, i cant even recall my mother ever talking about my great great granny snapping peas on her porch but she probably has. she cooked everything from scratch apparently, and im one that rarely snap my beans, i use the knife majority of the time due to time and convenience. i do bacon bits in my salad, but i do real bacon in my beans......i want mine crispy and ill throw it in last minute so it dont soften as much, depending on my mood, ill make a roux and add my green beans in as well as my potatoes and let them cook til everything is almost tender(i like a bit of texture) but i do take in consideration the starch from the potato also thickening it too. i love that you used red potatoes, i might have to make em your way for a change. these look amazing.

I was raised snapping my greenbeans. It's the only way...............PERIOD gotta keep lil bit that bacon 🥓 grease. 😋😋

I never strain my bacon grease, neither did my Mom or either of my Grandmoms. I grew up snapping beans and shelling peas all my life and will happily do that to this day!

I still snap my beans and have my kids help. Oh yeah the bacon grease I include it all in the jar. Just like grandma.

My grandparents pour everything in tin coffee container with plastic lid..
You could make this a main dish by adding some smoked sausage and bake it the oven. And some corn bread.
This is one of my favorites...takes me back to Grandma's table. I can make and eat these beans as a complete meal
(I brown the bacon, add the garlic....I've never tried adding sugar but maybe next time....add the chicken stock, and cook the beans first for 20 mins or so then add the potatoes (I usually use baby red/fingerling potatoes) for the last 20-30 mins....but I like my beans thoroughly cooked and soft)

I went down south to visit grandparents as a kid and we snapped string beans and shucked corn

Grandma/ Mamma, topped the biscuits with that Bacon Grease!?😮😮😢😂
Brother please leave the link for the pans you are cooking in or add it to your website…thank you♥️
I learned and still do the same. Poor the bacon grease straight in a coffee can.
Yes I snap my green beans. Who doesn't?
Anybody who really saved the grease, they know the bits of bacon were the best but you had to scrape the bottom because they settled in the tin.
Mom used to just pour it all in the can! 😊
🦃I am Jamie from South Carolina and I love how you cook. Where are you from.?
I always snap my beans, I'm old school.
We grew up saving bacon grease, but why waste so much of the flavor by straining it?
Looks so delicious 😋💯
Hello AB thank you so much for the recipe that was green beans looks so delicious 😋🤤
Yes indeed!! Fun fact, that’s what u thought edamame was at first just with a different name😂

That looks great AB I told the family I was bring your collards greens but noe I'm going to have to take green beans as well.
My grandma didn't play because no kids was allowed in the kitchen when she was cooking.
I make mine with smoked turkey. I don't eat beef or pork bacon...
Yes, we call it... "pot liquor"
Strain the bacon fat through a coffee filter, add onion and fat in tin foil and bake in oven
