Thanks to Tunnel dave for letting me join this party, what a laugh it was. This was a spur of the moment video that turned out great, i know the music is Bridge over the River Kwai but the great escape music is copyrighted so its close enough. ENJOY
Have you got a price for how much the tunnel cost?
@@rebeccapettinger1072 Mine or his?
@@colinfurze Yours!
Love the manical laughing, fine line between hilarious and terrified 😂😂😂
Thanks for joining me in the escape Colin, we need to link up again when I make some more tunnel progress 😂
love how colin's idea of a 'day off from tunnling in his garden' is to tunnel in someone else's garden.
Talk about a Busman's-holiday.
🤣
tunnelboys gonna tunnel
I think he might be slowly turning into a gopher
The mole people are among us now.
the maniacal laughter coming from slightly underground
I was watching this with my window open and a nearby bird kept cackling back as a reply
Lol
Bro good thing theres no guards, "hey phil you hearing that sh*t" lol
he is the joker of tunneling after all
guard 1: "shine the light at the grass:
guard 2: "Alright"
Collin: "mmhahahahaha"
guards: "Crap it the zombie apocalypse" 🧟♂️🧟♀️
Repurposing that old well for the staircase is awesome.
Yeah, imagine the final product though
Just watching him literally laughing out of the sheer joy of doing something he has seen in a movie makes me smile. Ah Colin, you mad lad, keep it up.
Never thought there would be a dedicated "Tunneling in Your Back Garden" subculture on RUclips...
don't forget JerryRigEverything
also @saveitforparts
That's true, but it's so good.
Wait until you find turbo conquering mega eagle!
It's actually been there longer than Colins project :P
Started off with people diggin basements under their homes and others making shelters in their backyards etc.
“Can you check outside dear? I hear muffled laughing from under the garden”
💀
The StalagLuft 3 camp’s location was chosen because of the very sandy soil that made digging tunnels very difficult. So absolute respect for the men of the original Great Escape and the effort it took to pull off what they did.
"We must have more WOOD!"
I saw where a group went back and dug with a backhoe to find the tunnel. They found some wood. But starting down the ground was so loose they had to be lifted out. It was not safe. They could not climb down to document up close
@@larrythompson8630 I think I saw that, it was a really cool documentary. They found some of the parts of the carts and the bellows as I recall
I love the stealth that Colin showed. No one would have noticed his seemless escape.
When we first started excavating our basement by hand, we used a wagon and bucket system copied from the Great Escape. Years later, our kids were watching the movie and exclaimed, "Hey, they copied us!" 😀
❤ Children's Video Under 16 at Т.G. XAW232❤
😂 I love it.
Lmao
Good old anchoring effect. 😁
Ex Firefighter here, i never liked confined spaces despite having done many exercises in BA gear. Watching you do this is my worst nightmare.... well done.
Agreed cause me mild anxiety 😅
I love the ending with Colin "Hilts the cooler king" Furze!
I'm not usually claustrophobic but that tunnel makes me feel it.
Yep, whenever I see that I'm glad I wasn't born anywhere near the vietnam war. Those tunnels were way tighter.
I think its Cozy
Right?! I took one look at that and OUT LOUD went Absolutely not.
@@RenTheWrenHaha, same. Although I was more like FAAAARK THAAAAT 😮
Imagine you are couple of guys in such a small tunnel and you let off some air but it turned into a real wet shitter it even starts blasting out your rear into the face of the guy behind you
6:22 top moment right there. A lunatic laughing out loud from a deep hole in the lawn in the middle of the night. 🤣
'Kommandant - Itz zis von vhere ze prizonerz escapez!' 😅
I would like to Honor the 50 men who died, Salute the 23 that tried and congratulate the 3 who made it! As a soldier they all did a Galant and selfless act by continuing to risk their lives in this escape and cause havoc in the enemy's rear area diverting recourses and manpower from other operations. God bless the greatest generation and the Heros they became!
Excellent what a fantastic tribute, to the Great Escape.
Looked a great laugh as well.
I never knew that suitcases are born that way. Shows you that you are never too old to learn something new.
Underrated comment😂
I never knew suitcases were “born”. 🤣😂
Celebrating "The Great Escape" by playing the music from "Bridge on the River Kwai". Brilliant!
Indeed the tune is known as Colonel Bogey!
Damn music copyright...
Came here to point this out. Great video though! Looks like so much fun!
Reminds me of the Top Gear Burma special which used the "Burning Bridges" theme from "Kelly's Heroes". But only on the first BBC2 showing because they couldn't afford the rights for more than one broadcast.
And then the continuity announcer wittered on over most of it...
Exactly what I was thinking
I've never got claustrophobic before...but in this one...wow!..and hats off to the people who had to do this for real.
Maniacal coming from a hole in a random lawn just about perfectly sums up Collin.
As a 40 hour miner and pipeliner the lack of shoring terrifies me. However I enjoyed every minute. I plan on something similar soon.
You might want a bit more experience if you've only done it for 40 hours! 👀
Same.
@@RGSMANIA😂 they mean it’s their full time job. Past experience making foundation forms, site drainage, and framing, that lack of shoring was also making me incredibly anxious. Collapses of earth works, even small ones are incredibly dangerous even just above the waste with the head free and clear.
@@RGSMANIAyou absolute plonk
@RGSMANIA it's a certification from msha. Doing it 30 plus years.
You have a real talent for connecting with people
imagine watching your neighbor pop out of the ground like that
This is too claustrophobic for my taste. Getting the shivers just from the intro. Maniacs you :p
It gets _super_ bad hand way through
Could never be me!
It’s great to see you visiting Dave. Dave’s a mate of mine and is a genuinely top bloke so to see you there was amazing. Following both of your tunnels is something I look forward to.
To be honest, in such a small tunnel, the risk of asphyxiation is absolutely real! This can happen very easily and fast.
My dad climbs into small tanks at work, and they have lots of very strict safety procedures they have to consider. They always take a device with them that measures O2,Co2, and CO. There always has to be someone outside in fresh air that can see them at all times to call for rescue if needed. And they wear safety harnesses so the fire brigade can pull them out in an emergency.
Yes, I know that he has built his own ventilation system, but yet this feels a bit sketchy and quite risky to me.
This breaks any safety guidelines that need to be followed in a professional environment! And they are there for a very good reason
The laughter at 6:15! 😂🤣
Colin has a Stan Laurel laugh when he finds something really funny 😄 eg. Stuck suitcase.
I'm 1 minute in and I already feel claustrophobic.
same here...
Yup i feel you
Man .. I just noticed that I was smiling the whole way through this!
Thanks for the great fun guys ☮
colins laugh makes everything awesome. love the great escape concept!
Oh the claustrophobia! Perfectly match by the maniacal laughing! I laughed so hard! Thanks Colin!
I do not think I have ever been so fascinated by a video showing Mother Earth giving birth to a suitcase. You can always rely on Colin to be the first to do something wild, Bravo.
Welcome to the channel. You're drawn in by all the cool machines and gadgets and you stay to watch him dig big holes in his yard! This man is living every childhood dream I had growing up🤣
Watching colin's case coming out of the ground, was absolutely hilarious 😂👏👏.
I am already missing Colins progress on his tunnel but totally appreciate he needs a break
Geoffery Hobsbawn was my great uncle and an RAF navigator imprisoned in Stalag Luft III. He lived a long happy life in Toronto, Canada
Luckily he wasn't one of the 50.
I recently read 'The Real Great Escape' by Guy Walters - probably the most comprehensive account of the escapes from Stalag Luft III that has ever been published - and it is beyond incredible what those lads achieved. Absolutely mind-blowing. R.I.P to the 50 escapees who were executed after being caught, and of course all those who have died since.
Remember the 50 who gave their lives in this incredible feat. The great escape accomplished in WWII.
R.I.P an never forget them
I didn't realise it was the anniversary of "the Great Escape", which is ironic, as we just spent the afternoon at the "Wartime Hertiage Museum" here in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Most of the aircraft on display (many of which are airworthy) are leftovers from WW2. We have one of only two flying Lancasters. Anyhoo, always fun to watch a tunneling video.
Boys will be Boys. Absolutely amazing.
You broke the golden rule! Never go for a dump at someone else's house.
I had to, it wasn't a choice
@@colinfurze🤣
@@T-Bag13it's better to take a big dump first thing. If you're still friends afterwards then you'll be friends for life
Sounds more like a brown rule 😜
I guess it's better than going in his tunnel. 😆
Wow one of the best RUclips videos
Such nostalgia, and great fun with friends
Awesome content
Love all the hard work
This truly does help you grasp their achievement.
Colin’s laugh is so contagious! 😂
Yes 😂
I never knew I was claustrophobic. Seeing Colin beeing stuck with his suitcase was scary as hell. 😅
Love the post work showing how much editing can change the story.
Though I love the thought of a pair of german guards going: do you here giggling?
I'm imagining prison guards standing around and look around confused when they hear the muffled sounds of Colins laugh.
One of my all time favorite movies. I could watch it every day and still be just as great. So much respect for the men who dug their way out and the tragedy of the 50 Men who were killed by the Germans. Three lads got out.
Mine too. I'm going to watch it again today. Haven't seen it for around 5 years.
Man! I hope it wasn't because of guy #4's suitcase, lol.
😂 funniest thing I've seen in ages
You're rich, I...I lost all my...money, can I have yours mister? :)
Looks like y'all are 40 feet short of the woods. It was nice to see Tom have a Danny moment in the tunnel! Well done!
One of the best movies ever. I watched it a dozen times as a child/teen. The characters, the suspense. Excellent. Thank you for this!
Colin you should add floors and keep digging down!! Make this thing multi-leveled.
This isnt his house lmao
With an underground swimming pool and roller coaster
We all agree on this.. We all say at least 10 levels.. I speak on behalve of all fans.
He made a video that he can’t do that because of radiation. Any deeper and possible radiation poisoning.
@@laurahaaima1436 he could also build un underground railway with miniature steam trains to see how the londen underground must of been like when it opened
You playing the Colonel Bogey March from Bridge on the River Kwai while commemorating the Great Escape almost gave me a stroke 😀
Yeah, but that pissed me off as well!
Being in my 60's, I recognized the song immediately - most people don't know what we are talking about.
Yeah the great escape theme has copyrights on it and i couldn't find a version i could use lol
This ^
@@colinfurze That's what I figured, but still 😀
Nothing like a Colin furze laugh to put me in a good mood.
Thank you for sharing your expertise!
If you hear laughter in your yard in the middle of the night, it's likely that Colin furze is tunneling under your yard
Something tells me the scene in Kill Bill where the bride digs her way out of a buried coffin would have been so much funnier if Colin was fighting his way out. 🤣
7:45
"a good shove" has always worked well for me. 😁
Good on you both for remembering those brave guys.
"The Cooler King" scene at the end brought this video up to another level... Well done!
It's better than the other ending...
Have a blessed Sunday afternoon everyone. Colin thank you for this upload. Time to sit back and chill.
Blimey, I couldn't watch this. The fear of the unsupported tunnel collapsing was making my tummy do summersaults. I kept skipping forward, and then got to the wet mud bit and was scared the tunnel would suddenly flood. It was lucky that BIG Tom didn't get stuck!
I've always wanted to watch garden turf shit a suitcase. Thanks for making dreams come true, Colin!
That pump man is genius. 1:01
my heart and love go out to the men who actually had to do that under the threat of death. God love em! As for you two.... I'm so jealous of the fun you're having!!!!
Hands down the best music for any channel on YT.
Man .. I just noticed that I was smiling the whole way through this!
Thanks for the great fun guys
Brave men doing brave things it was destined to become a movie the *AWM19V* move is helping us mark my words

All the men, whether they stayed behind, successfully escaped or were executed on capture would raise a glass to you and Tunnel Dave. True British pluck and humour.
Amazing stuff. Not sure I'd be keen on working in such a confined space so all credit to you, Dave and Tom (and those doing it in slightly different circumstances 80 years ago!)
One of the top 5 movies of all time, 'The Great Escape'! Cool!
The legend is finally back. Thank you Colin!
He’s been back… he’s been super active on his second channel
6:09 both hilarious and anxiety inducing moment.
Colin laughing from hole in lawn. amazing. I wanna tshirt of that!
They are literally living my childhood dream. Well done lads!!

Colin's laugh is so contagious 😆
OK chaps, escape committee meets on Thursdays, Colin's the mole, and whatever you do don't tip off Gerry (aka Mrs Furze). obviously *AWM19V* is in a great spot
🇬🇧 determination, skill and grit can you remember when Great Britain was just that ! 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍🏻😂brilliant lads . 👏👏👏
Great work and watching this on 24th March meant so much more!
Wow. This might be the most dangerous thing you've ever shown on your channel. Great video.
Yeah that tunnel has no room to move on the vertical shaft. Had one of the side walls given way the person could have been easily trapped with no way to get them air quickly and no room for them to self rescue. Scary. DO NOT try this at home!
That’s exactly what I thought. So I’m glad my commrnt wasn’t idiotic. And others agree.
This is absolutely awesome. I just heard today that it was a anniversary and then I see this My day is complete thank you both❤
Those orginal boys in The Great Escape were true heros! Cool video!
the mole man progression of this channel is insane, more please
Here we see a very rare occurrence indeed; a Colin Furze being born.
Furze!!!! One of my favorite movies and historical events.
The movie The Great escape is by far my favorite film, so thank you so much.
I love it you never cease to amaze me Colin love the collaboration ❤

I laughed my little heart out. You're giggles are infectious Colin 😂
How cool! I love the great escape movie, ive seen it many many times. Very cool to see this and know that men actually did this in real life.
Great job on the video Colin! Thanks for making it.
Colin would have been caught with the amount of laughter 😂😂😂
Absolutely brilliant! What life should be about.... Fun!
Guys, I can't watch this video to the end. I'm more and more feeling claustrophobic! Respect! This is how an earthworm has to feel!
Awesome episode Colin! Thanks Tunnel Dave!!
Have you considered safety goggles and a fencing mask for the uphill bits?
Btw, f*#$€]g brilliant video, and big ups to Dave for celebrating this momentous day 👍👍👍👍
No one would expect you to dig a tunnel big enough to take an entire Pickford’s lorry through, Colin. You’d have got away no problem.
Thanks Colin
Your passion shines through every video
That as hilarious, Colin! Ahhh, the power of editing there at the end. Great escape, Colin and Tunnel Dave. 😃
