That price is ridiculous. Its almost as much, as i paid for my whole motionrig. Essentially 2 motors pulling 2 strings, and they want 1 grand for it? But nice video, as always. 😎
@@BadDanMe Oh, the H2, by which you mean 2 motors essentially pulling on a bunch of thin aluminum frame? Seams silly when you intentionally oversimplify something doesn’t it? If you look at the inside of the TensionR and compare the components to the H2 you’ll find it is actually fairly similar. Both have two motors, two gearboxes, some PCBs for controll and conected to software that makes of run. So if you subtract the aluminum frame from the H2, you’ll probably be at the same price as the tensionR, so the price for the parts you get at actually similar. Yes, the motors at smaller, so is the gearbox etc, but smaller does not equal cheaper to produce/acquire in all cases. Sometimes quite the opposite even. Of course, that might not be worth it for some, as “all you get” is tension in the belts. But I don’t think it’s overpriced based on the hardware it consists of. Also, it was originally 900USD, but due to all the world events everything is more expensive so it increased to 1000 some time ago.
I love my G-Belt as well and btw. actuators are motors or basically drillers. Seems the G-Belt isn't as noisy as that system, but it comes with a controller box including a fan, at least less noisy than with the GS-5. The G-Belt doesn't have a belt included, but you can use 3 inch belts with it and only 2 inch with PT. The G-Belt is directly fixed behind my shoulder which should be a bit more direct and this is not an option with the PT because the space between the belts is too small, so no bolting to the seat directly in case someone is planning it. The G-Belt motors look a bit bigger, but don't know the power-figures and there is one negative: The G-Belt can only pull about 40 mm max because it doesn't coil up the belt like the PT. There are lever-arms inside pulling the belts and I would prefer more and a tight fitting 5/6-point-harness is kind of mandatory. The great about the GS-5 and G-Belt combination is, on the brake the G-Belt squeezes your shoulders while the back-plates moving backwards. I only saw one DIY-system on RUclips yet that could do this trick as well.
Another great video Karl. My PT Actuator Tension R arrived on Friday. Still researching /asking how to get it to fit a DoF Reality H3! I got it direct from Shao @PT sent it with two sets of mounting brackets you mention but my rig does not have alu extrusion frame.

Nice review and looks like a good product. There are so many ways for SIM racers to increase the immersion nowadays. The colour also goes with your rig quite nicely too.
Ive had one for a few months and couldn't sim without it now much the same way if you add a buttkicker you really notice how good it is when it'snot on. I have mine on a static rig and made rollers to mount on the seat so it pulls back rather than down. Also have mine attached to a 2inch tubular frame Tr8 which they made brackets for on request.
@@vividpsychosis8222 for me there fine mate, not really any more intrusive than magnetic shifters or my wind sim at 50% plus my transducers tbh. Will be interesting if Fanatec will take a swing at it with their DD motors. Then we can get really powerful and quiet system. Price is rather crazy though. I with they released a kit there you could source your own belts. This would make the system cheaper as well as allow people to customize the look of their system. Nice review Karl. Did you get a chane for anyone else to give it a go? You mentioned you thought the seat height was a factor for it working well for you. So I wonder if this is another product where size/fit might be a critical factor. A big issue at that price. You also mentioned you initially had low expectations so I wonder if that added to being so impressed. It will be interesting to see how much you miss it if you switch it off after a while.
Not yet mate no, it would need to be someone taller than me for the shoulder strap height to be an issue though, anyone shorter is fine. My low expectations where because I thought not having the waist belt tensioned would make it feel like only half a job, but I actually prefer it! :) I have since turned it off and it's like losing tactiles, a big noticeable loss in physical feedback!
Brilliant review, can't wait to have thr eye roll from the wife when I tell he I want to spend an additional £800 on the rig 🤭🤦🏾 You mentioned USB Hub, so I have to ask as I've been debating weather or not to put more USBs inside my PC rig or but a Hub, what Hub are you using?
So Karl with your system having surge couldn't you just anchor some belts and let the surge tighten them and loosen them? I understand this offers more with certain side pulling etc but did you ever try a static belt first? I am about to build a system with surge and figured static belts would give great feedback with surge pulling on them and loosening them. Your system is something I hope to replicate. Great review as always.
No mate, when you accelerate you surge forward (as in real life) and when you decelerate the system slowly returns to the neutral position so the belts would tighten at the opposite time to what they should.
