Best skill for Fighter is Shield Pummel. Don't know why every person sleeps on this skill but it's OP as hell. I've watched a bunch of "Best Fighter setup videos" and not a single one uses it. It's strike damage so you can take out annoying rock rattlers and armored enemies easily. It will knock down, break guards, and stun normal enemies for an easy crit strike, or gutting skewer. You can also just bash enemies off ledges, or send them flying into other enemies or explosive barrels too. It's such a valuable skill.

Came here for this. Shied Pummel is GOAT utilitarian skill imo: what it does, it does well to almost everyone.

In my experience I got way more stun power from full moon slash and skyward slash, and shield pummel didn't feel all that good for knockdown on bosses even when I had full dwarven on the shield.

I think it's still not too great though. Upgrade dwarven still not able to push an losing balance gore orge down, unless I do something wrong. But pummel do be a very good stagger move for fighter and I do still have it for rattle saurian.

I’d like to give a shout out the a overlooked Thief skill Smoke Screen/Shroud; It’s a good alternative for Formless Faint, applies Out of combat stance(which I believe gives you 50% more DMG on enemies), allows heavy attack animation without the need of staggering, and allows quick way to escape or sneak in a pawn revive. There are some cheeky thing as well like stopping phantasm/Phantom in there tracks for easy splitter attack(I’ve once smoke screen an entire fight against a bone lord and he just stood there taking all the hits without him attacking once)

Smoke Screen/Shroud is early game (even late game) ultra-easy mode. Enemies hit by it not only lose aggro but they don't gain it back even if you hit them. Just Smoke Screen/Shroud & turn your brain of & go on an absolute rampage, lasts for quite a while too. You can pull enemies in & even set up a powder bomb.
Thief probably has the best toolkit to deal with any situation in the game, from insane mobility to completely trivializing flying enemies to planting bombs on weak spots to render enemies dumb as rocks to the point you can poke them to death. As a bonus, it has a dodge button, a skill akin to double jump & you can go on a farming spree using Plunder. It's INSANE. Formless Faint + Blades of the Pyre combo puts it to a different plane of "EZ GG".

Important note for Warfarer: You can equip up to eight weapons. While you may only have access to three skills (Four if you don't use Rearmament), you can have three weapons for skills, and then other weapons for dealing with less powerful enemies. You can, and should, equip your Warfarer with something for dealing with weaker enemies like goblins. If all your moves are geared for dealing with single large enemies, you'll struggle when face something like a big mob of hobgoblins on Volcanic Island.
Also, don't sleep on Single-Vocation Warfarer. While you won't get the passive buffs from the vocation, using Warfarer grants Discipline to all vocations, allowing you to level up Vocations you're not interested in using, but you do want the Augments for. If you've got high-end equipment with full upgrades, you'll be taking a relatively minor reduction in strength. Also, you can use a Single Vocation Warfarer with Rearmament to switch weapons, so you can have a Warrior with a sword and hammer, using the hammer for knockdown and dealing with enemies like the rocklizards, and then swapping to the sword for dealing damage.
If you want for farm Discipline quickly with Warfarer, go to Drabnir's Grotta with the Magick Archer skill Ricochet Hunter. This is one of the few true "Dungeon" areas where Ricochet is extremely overpowered. Simply fully charge the skill and fire it into the area ahead, and it'll wipe of the mobs of the area very quickly, then repeat for any side tunnels. There's a lot of small, weaker enemies here and Ricochet Hunter will wipe them out very quickly.

I would strongly recommend for Thief players to put Ensnare/Implicate into their skill set. It is extremely useful for taking weaker enemies off-balance. It's especially good for rock and lava lizards, as two pulls will usually put them into a knockdown state so you can go for a quick finisher. Against bigger boss-scale enemies, you can use it to do a grab while they're off-balance to knock them over without needing to get too close, and pawns will sometimes join in to help.

Im not going to lie, Im kinda disappointed with the end game class selection and how vocations get unlocked. I would have preferred that instead of having a jack of all trades vocation, They would have kept the end game vocation system from DD Dark arisen. For example If you maxed out archer and thief, you unlock strider giving you access to melee and range.
Mage and Archer would give you magic archer.
Sorcerer and fighter would give you Mystic spearhand. etcc..
They could have done something like sorcerer and trickster, would unlock necromancer or something cool like that.

Fighter - Cloudward Slash (Good damage; Great vertical range)
Warrior - Inspirit (Recovers from many debilitations and stops fainting)
Thief - Smoke Shroud (Renders enemies out of stance; Best combined with Ambuscade augment)
Archer - Deluging Shot (Combined with any ice attacks allow easy freezing)
Mage - High Solemnity (Great against Dragons/Liches/Wights/etc.)
Sorcerer - High Thundermine (Good defensive tool against smaller enemies; Decent damage)
Mystic Spearhand - Devout Offringe (You're a Jedi now; Good to spam with against smaller enemies)
Magick Archer - Lifetaking Arrow (Good skill; Damages a lot of enemies before healing your target, but best used without a target)
Trickster - Fickle Floor (Can use this to trip up a few enemies)

Equip the augments that grant your pawns enhanced strength, magick, and strength and magick defense. Use trickster for Aromatic Resurgence, then switch to duo spear and spam bubble shield. Bam. Now you can have 3 pawns that have extremely augmented strength and magick, and are basically invincible if you keep bubble shield up.

I think the main two things for why Trickster is just loathed in the community is this: You are delegated to the SOLE tank on the team and not allowed to do any damage (at least let us do half normal damage, please Capcom), and you have to rely on the dogwater AI to make use of it... do you know how many times I've seen my Pawns do the dumbest things on the most easily hit target ever? How many times I've watched them plummet into the Brine when I stop moving? Trickster could work, and it's the most unique class in the game, but those two limitations make it not enjoyable, a slog to play, and just a waste of a vocation slot. Here's hoping the DLC adds at least 1 new vocation

Archer, I agree spiral arrow is probably the best skill in its kit outside of Nocuous. It outright does more damage than Manifold and you can fire two in the times it takes to complete a tempest and therefore does more damage.

Plus I use mystic cause of terrain uses ik the sorcerer could be better but I’ve been having fun using spear hand to traverse hard to reach areas and it works
I tried the augrual flare w helmsplitter and it felt underwhelming I couldn’t time it right, the flare would either disappear to quick or detonate to quickly for my liking. And skull splitter is definitely great but at that time it consumed a lot of stamina and was annoying to aim/control
And lastly for magic archer I used frost hunter bolt w reduced stamina from dragon forged and it worked wonders. After a few rounds of frost hunter I’d switch to thief or spear hand and just straight spam either classes attack.

yes, with that trickster loadout you can actually have a nearly impenetrable front and back line. just have the wall between your smoke clone and a red vocation, if you have one or want one, and your distance dps like sorcerers so they can cast as much as they want without agro... even if they get agro, there's um a wall hiding them anyway and a dragon head flinching the enemies every few seconds. "kill the stinky guy!" "but boss, he keeps teleporting, healing and um are we even damaging him? also where the hell are these meteors and tornadoes coming from?!" that set up is just broken and really fun. yeah suffocating shroud is too useful. yes, you can just attack or even use the hold light attack for a ranged option but those are either melee range or single target where this skill isn't either of those things. the skill that is useless, however, is the one where you get a further clone toss that kills the clone if it misses. just be smart with the clone positioning and healing while it's attached to you and you can get a cheeky clone grapple as the enemy is facing the clone away from you before they turn around.
mage's speed buff, master skill, and the damage negation are easy choices. yes, there are other ways to negate hits like the mystic spear shield but not everyone uses the spear that requires the player to use it. the 4th slot is optional, use it for elemental coverage or if you are in a harder fight that fast heal is nice to have. that one's sometimes overkill but it's up to you.
for sorcerer: i generally go with flare, maelstrom, meteor, and thunder mine. the 3 best damage skills and a skill that exists to guard you while you are casting, enemies can't juggle you when you are trying to cast if they are being juggled by this turret. it has a limited ammo per cast but has a high fire rate for larger groups. seism is slightly better than it was in dd1, you can aim it now, but it's just sort of a physical option for the vocation. why bother when you will likely have a physical vocation in your party anyway? he weirdly has seism there but doesn't talk about it.
even without the master skill, if there are walls magick archer is nuts with the ricochet hunter. i dislike martyr's bolt because it cuts max health so you can kind of only use it once or twice to kill a boss before you have to camp again. it's powerful but impractical, with what the game is. a single boss is what it's for but in a longer journey with a few bosses per camp using it is a mistake. i always use recovery arrow, same with rocochet hunter because finagling to use it's nich is easy a lott of the time. the reason i never used downpoor is because the skill it came form in dd1 was useless since if there weren't enough targets, or travel arc was bad, it just missed with most of its damage, i'm happy if i'm wrong with this one. i often fill the other 2 with the fire guided missile and the multi hit ice shot. the sleep shot is nich among nich but it's the easiest way to get perfect quality madusa heads every time.
theif is just... they didn't playtest this at all. it can steal items without using a skill, skull splitter is just the best damage in the game, and it has infinite i frame mode as a skill.
some vocations are streight up not worth using without any master skills so that cuts warfarer's options as it is. there's also the restriction of having to have the swap skill in 1 of your 4 slots. yes, this lets you havve 3 vocation actions but it makes it so you always have less than 3 skills till you swap to the right one that has the skill you want. if you have smaller openings for a skill you can't use it because you have to waste time to swap. if it was really nerfing the stats but it was 3 skills per weapon this would be fun but since it's less skills overall with the rule of having to have the proper weapon at the time you wnat the skill it's sucks donky balls. those who made this vocation as it is were drunk so it's fitting that the master is a drunk. it's a restrictive mess. it lets you do the unintended comboes but that's what the party is for. fewer options is not fun and some vocations on it are completely useless since when you swap most things that persists from a skill or action goes away. that trickster clone is utterly useless since when you swap it disappears, some of those buffs also vanish too. yes, skull splitter, flare, and shield is broken but it's a 1 size fits all mistake that kills any gameplay variety they wanted in the game.

Honesty in this game everything is good because the game is to easy. I have over 240hours. Everything maxed all gears found and maxed . After 150 hours I started to play only with my main pawn. Mage with 3 weapon affinity and 1 heal . That’s it. Playing thief without formless feint and only using skill dodge combo and the game was better. Same thing with fighter. Thief and fighter are my best class . Fighter kill as fast as thief if well played.

So i feel like my game was broken for a very long time.... Ever since i unlocked trickster, and noticed that legendary skill dont do ANYTHING at all. And recently i tried to do Augural Flare + any other vocation with fast attacks, and as soon as i use rearmament Flare just disappears. I thought that was a "protection" from cheesing it with i dunno, magic archer fast attacks, or archer, or thief, but no. I can clearly see you can use Flare on enemy and switch vocation. Why the fk my game wont allow me to do it???

Trickster Meister skill is weird, often it feels like it literally does nothing to bosses, then sometimes you see people chain flinching bosses with it. I've had it often interrupt/cancel Drakes.
Obviously with small enemies it just scares them off.

Even erupting shot was not being properly considered. It can 1-3 shot nearly any large enemy in the game. And you can stack 99 of them (only cost 20 each). And it has absolutely unparalled knockback. And it's ranged. And you can move while aiming it. And it seems to have armour piercing properties. And it is predictable aoe damage. I would absolutely argue numbers wise it deserves top 3.

Agreed, i watch them because im curious what they think, but if you augment correctly any vocation is powerful af. Also i think augments like in the 1st game effect your pawns behavior in battle. Like putting the stamina reducing one for climbing will prompt them to mount monsters more

      @@cjloha91 Exactly.
I'm just getting tired of videos like this in single player games. Meta gaming already ruined multiplayer games. Like I remember getting kicked in monster hunter because I didn't use the meta builds && went for silly builds like knockout s&s && stuff like that.
Meta gaming sucks the fun out of games imo. Like, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with wanting to have the best build. But at least do the trial && error on your own. Finding out what works or not is part of the fun.

Got kicked from hunts like safi, and kulve. Then at the end of hunts i wasnt kicked, id end up being dmg dealer since i never had to heal. Then rise/sunbreak came out and my build was pretty much made into the game

Don't watch it if you don't want to. Some people are just curious on how other vocations are or what kinda damage they can do with it. It's a solo game, let people play it how they want to, and if they want to make crazy dps builds, let them.

@@Nix_-I hear ya brother. I have a few stories about crap like that from various points in both world and Iceborne.
The one I'll tell is when ATLuna was new. Decided to bumb around on the PS4 communities (was still a thing at this time) looking for a farm group the day of. The only group I managed to join the leader asks if I had beaten Behemoth or Extremeoth which I hadn't at the time and just kicks me. Needless to say i was rather pissed.
So I did the only logical thing and decided to solo farm AT Lunastra using a weapon I hadn't used before, the switch axe, and got all the tickets I needed in about 2 hours.
A week later I see the same guy still trying to farm tickets and just kinda laughed.
He did end up apologizing about being a dick though, so it all worked out.
Tl:dr people who focus soley on meta or clearing BS content as a way to gage skill can get bent.
