    This has been understood for a long time, that there are two distinct "persons" inside the human brain, one in each hemisphere, each with its own likes and dislikes. A book published in the 70s, The Origins of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind, reported on this. James Cameron, I think? Can't remember, but all this is described in his book. I try and tell folks this, and they look at me very strangely. I'm bookmarking this video for future reference. Thank you.

    • @Neueregel
      @Neueregel 9 лет назад +1

      bookmark? how about just playlisting this or put in 'watch later'? I have over 10,000 videos in my playlists, it's impossible to start bookmarking all watched videos. I only exported them to databases. My bookmarks are already 1.5K+ anyway and i don't even put any videos there. Bookmarks tend to grow ridiculously large, if you can't control them

    • @mrfaithandphysics
      @mrfaithandphysics 9 лет назад +1

      Neueregel I actually meant playlist. And even those are getting to need some weeding. Still a interesting tidbit that most are unaware of. There's actually two of us in here. So I'll blame the mistake of calling it a bookmark on the stupid guy sitting next to me in my head.

    • @Neueregel
      @Neueregel 9 лет назад +1

      mrfaithandphysics There is always a struggle between the left and right hemisphere.. both are important bro. That doesn't mean we are schizophrenic though. It's normal to have various moods throughout the day

      Neueregel Of course. I was trying to be funny. I'm not that good at it. I'm told I'm far too serious all the time. Did you even smile?

    so if you have a split brain you can play against ,, yourself'' like
    you put up a board of chess or what ever and the right side plays with one hand and the other hand with the other?
    would this work?

    • @pineapplelolipop
      @pineapplelolipop 7 лет назад +10

    • @catvalentine4317
      @catvalentine4317 7 лет назад +12

      Probably yes, because the two hemispheres aren't one logical and one creative opposing to popular belief. They have different abilities which overall create a tendency. And I'd love to watch that match.

    • @Nova_1945
      @Nova_1945 4 года назад

      pineapplelolipop No you dumbass. There is no logical brain or creative brain, it has nothing to do with both hemispheres. Creativity come through emotions and emotions are stored in amygdala and limbic system. If you dont have amygdala you are all logical being.

      It might be the solution to anxiety for some people. Making a decision by yourself can be nerve wrecking, but having a discussion with someone you respect as much as yourself (another piece of yourself) could resolve that. Though I imagine other consequences follow that may be less obvious while still being worth consideration.

      I have a theory, that your part of the brain, the left hemisphere, speaking part of your brain which is more you than the other (and controls the right half of your body) has to do with why there are more right handed people in the world.
      For left handed people the consciousness is just in the right half of the brain instead of the more usual left. I mean, we don’t know exactly where our conscious is but I’d be betting that it’s in our brain somewhere...
      What if it’s split Incase our brain is damaged it’s only a 50% chance of getting your consciousness damaged.
      And for ambidextrous people their consciousness is evenly split in both, explaining why ambidextrous people tend to be straight forward. (Because they don’t have the other part/ consciousness)
      Idrk lol. These are just random thoughts, so please don’t get triggered 👀

    When the brain goes through a emotional breakdown usually its one hemisphere triggering a breakdown in the other. If one half senses something wrong with the other it will cause a breakdown until it's healed. It's why you feel better after a emotional breakdown and can sometimes have slight changes in attitude and actions. I wonder if this is the same in people with split brains of is a breakdown now impossible, if so does the brain just burn out or is it still possible for one side to cause the other side a breakdown

  • @TomUlcak

    Charlie Kaufman talks about the difference between human consciousness and 'artificial consciousness'. how the many parts of the brain argue with each other and have different agendas. it makes me think of the Matrix movies where each program large and small have their own agendas and fight for their own.

      Perfectly Balanced as All Things Should be
      AI is not complex enough to have a conciousness. It is either an algorithm, without much capacity for learning or changing, or it can be able to do machine learning. However, even with machine learning, the computer is optimized to do a specific task, therefore abstract thinking does not exist.
      Also, one can know a lot about something and be a doofus on other things. Someone with some understanding of AI would be able to deduce this, however they don’t have it, because its not their field of expertise.

Consider finding a splitter to tell you none of those things are the same at all, because then you have to explain the relationships more finely and can both learn. You seem to be making some powerful analogies that would benefit greatly from precision of language generated through conflict with someone who wants to understand the = way of thinking but thinks this way less intuitively.

      Man , if there could be 2 consciousnesses in one brain, the one with less control would find a way to say "Help me, I am locked in my own body, I have no control over anything !" Instead, we can be made of consciousness (one and unique) and subconscious. Subconscious is more like an autonomous system that will learn patterns for you and apply them in specific situations. When you want to say something , to a girl for example, but you say something completely different, it's your body/subconscious fighting against of your own will because they fear of something. Take this example : you can realize that you fear something, you want not to fear anymore but you still do no matter how much will you have. But, you can overcome this with special help that knows exactly how your subconscious works to make it get used to that stimulus.
