The dollar house story is wrong. That house was won buy the first owner after a citywide ruffle to raise money for charity donated by OK zimbabwe.. the ruffle tickets were $1 each in 1985/6 when that (2) rows of houses was built adjacent to the semidetached houses.
yazi ifeeling yokuba seZim imnandi the momemnt osuka eZim, subona such videos, knowing that ma useZim uyabe ulabantu bakini not okweSA okokuti u feel like an alien kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.
I grew up here..the story abt the dollar house is that the area had new houses being built ,it was called Glenkara homes then. There was a raffle n the tickets were Z$1 and the prize was the show house"the dollar house".So wen it was won ,everyone started calling it the dollar house. The house won with Z$1. It was way back in the late 80s.
Thank you Magriza very informative, I would like to visit Gwabalanda it seems like a very cool hood. Keep up with the good work. All the best keep the people informed about Bulawayo and Zim it's a good thing to do cos there is a lot of ignorance out there about Zimbabwe and it's people, culture, mass media has totally distorted the real Zimbabwe and painted a picture that depicts totally opposite the reality on the ground despite challenges which is the beautiful people who are resilient and very enterprising and happy people.
Dollar house was won on an OK raffle amatikiti akhona aye yi $1. That's where the dollar house name came from. Steel house it's not just the trusses made of steel, the whole house was built on a steel frame.
Gwabalanda, Ziyaphapha my hood. Stha The Chef you know Gwabalanda. Most pple used to confuse Steel House and Dollar House. Dollar House umnikazi got it by winning it through lottery by ticket nge One dollar. It's the first house in that section, yahlala many years engila makhelwane before stands were demarcated. The guy doing haircut ngumtshana Ka Mlaji usebenzeka khona ko Mlaji e Ziyaphapha.
I'm all the way from ema5. If I remember history sedollar house correctly, there was an actual lottery and the tickets to win the house cost 1 dollar, hence the name. Historians, correct me nxa ngirongo.
The music blends in well. Thanks Magriza.I really loves Gwabalanda with its big original houses and the famous Amakhosi grounds.I love how Gwabalanda meets Magwegwe North.Just as you think you are still in Magwegwe North,Gwabalanda greets you with its big houses and you can only marvel at the meeting. My biggest friend stayed in Gwabalanda and that made this Kasi a darling to my heart. The music bode very well Magriza.Hats off to the artist-he must not stop there.

Ko Marash in memory of the bus stop you were standing MHSRIP
The dollar house was called so because in the early 90s when that area was built, one particular house was put on a dollar raffle and someone won it.
Stha did you know Solomon skhuza used to practise just by the house behind bus stop you are at @magriza
