The San People’s phrase Holohou, which subsequently became Tjolotjo and then Tsholotsho after becoming corrupted, is where the name of this town is derived from. The name of this place means the head of an elephant and the town shares a similar meaning to that of Thohoyandou (a town in Limpopo Province) - which also means head of an elephant in the TshiVenda language. In this documentary, we travel to meet up with Chief Tategulu and residents from the area of KoNyamazana/KoMswigana to learn about royalty, culture, food, architectural development and how people from Tsholotsho are proud of their town.

Ogweja abagebha lapha eplazini eSigodini are from Tsholotsho. They're such a proud lot. I constantly tease them for being so rural minded but hayi, bayaziqenya shem! And they have (strange to me), unusual names like Gatsha, Mlamuleli, Meluleki, Zolile and Maphikelela. All very beautiful names that you don't hear a lot in Bulawayo.
