The Ndau people are very rich in cultural heritage which cuts across several aspects of their way of life- including their attires, their language, their songs and also their food. The Ndau people have very healthy and delicious recipes that everyone enthusiastic about Zimbabwe and African cuisine can tap into. In this documentary which was shot in Chimanimani, Zimbabwe, we get to experience the scintillating taste of Koroni (Wheat), Guku (Blackjack), Mutikiti (Pumpkin Leaves), Uninga (Sesame Seeds), Huku yeChiNdau (roadrunner chicken), Karakuni (turkey) and Mungods (Finger Millet). Our guests further tell us about the use of Muhlaba (Wood-ash) through the Mupesepese tree and the importance of consuming Gusha (Okra). We also get to learn several cultural practices within this beautiful culture.

► ► ABOUT MAGRIZA MADE ME COOK:
The channel seeks to document and serve Africa's diverse food culture, one dish at a time as well as air other cultural and traditional stories that have never been documented. Magriza is slang for uGogo (Grandmother in isiNdebele) and the name of the show is derived from Prince's inspiration for falling in love with cooking; his grandmother.

I can see the Ndau spoken in chimanimani is kinda different from the ndau we speak in chipinge south Maybe it's because my village is too close to Moz, ndau has may dialects or subs 😂 we have Chiqwaka,Chidanda ,Chigova
Chimanimani Ndau
Has many shona words
In chipinge south sleeping is called Ku qambayaya
This channel is by far the best in Zimbabwe
Thank you so much brother Ranga
I agree with you. I have been to Chipinge. The Ndau spoken there is so different from the Ndau spoken in Chimanimani
This language is like venda nyana
Kuqambayaya . In Ndebele we say kucambalala
It's almost the same. Here in Chimanimanj shoes, we call them qhathuya
Peeing is called ku xama
Man muisi
Woman muiswa
Speaking kuleeya
We have even kuqambaya here
This is so profound. A Kenyan here in the states watching and admiring your work. What's profound about this video is the wisdom of the Ndau culture in terms of ingredients, technique and the ability to discern which foods have the highest rate of nutrition return. Thank you for your work!
Thank you so much for watching this documentary.
We appreciate your work showing our different Zimbabwe cultures
Thank you Nomathemba.
Thank you for this I’m a South African with a Ndau ancestry been troubled me for so long I dont know how the Ndau people lived I’m glad there’s similarities how they cook and everything I speak sepulana which is a dialect of pedi derere is legushe in our language. Lol I would really like to connect with them one of our family member is a sangoma when the Ndau people come out we don’t even know how to communicate with her
If finances permit, you can visit Chipinge, Chimanimani and parts of Mozambique. That's where your ancestors come from.

In language classification, Ndau is classified with other Shona Languages. Most Shona language speakers will understand 95% of Ndau and will recognise it as an extent of other Shonas
