The period of friendship between the United States and China was also the period of confrontation between the Soviet Union and China from the 70s to the 90s.
Many older Chinese men in small cities have low education levels or do not understand history, so their ideas are still stuck in the 50s.
But U.S. government is indeed too violent and has a very poor international image. The U.S. system and police are also very violent. Gun violence and violent street culture are very serious.

Her pronunciation of Mandarin is near perfect. Of course, it doesn’t sound anything like the Chinese spoken in Malaysia.
Don't take it personally. I think the old guy was talking about the state-to-state relationship rather than person-to-person relationship. Everyone knows there are good guys and bad guys in any country.

Loved this one thanks. I have been to some parts of Sichuan. Everywhere I went I was usually the only foreigner I saw when I went for a stroll. Many friendly people approached me but sad to say my Chinese was not up to the task. It didn't usually matter as a lot of people wanted to practice their English on me anyway. In my 6 weeks of travel I never met any one who was the slightest bit unfriendly. Xichang seems an almost idyllic place to live. I assume you visited as it is a Green City Case Study. Sounds even better when you know that. Beautiful.
China is a beautiful, modern, safe and friendly country.

Thumbs up for the Xichang video - most RUclipsrs show us Chongqing and Chengdu in Sichuan. But this "tiny" city is just so alive and worth to visit. :)
Actually, there are videos about rural Sichuan but they are in Mandarian.
What a nice whirlwind tour of this place. That guy may not be the best person you came across there but getting to appear on the video thumbnail ain’t easy! :D

西昌光邛海風光就算得上是美麗的城市，坐車往西就是瀘沽湖，再往西南就是歪國人常去和嚮往的雲南麗江，然後附近就是虎跳峽和香格里拉，以及附近一大堆景點，這路線一路玩個20天也沒問題。
哈哈哈，很开心你会展现出小城的美，也会真实地展现大家的一些想法，显然不是所有事情都是完美的，祝你愉快

She actually said it was too expensive. That's different. Many things I can afford but don't buy because they're too expensive. Chinese ppl are savers. So am I tho I'm not chinese. Warren Buffet famously once declined to buy a bag of nuts because they were "too expensive".
Some cheap costumes are affordable for her family, but most parents prefer their children to focus on studying rather than wearing makeup. Parents often say they can't afford things when they don't want to buy them.

I was in Xichang once. And it was raining dogs and cats. Happy to see what I missed 😅 that time I was actually planning to go to the mountains for 火把节 but it was the last year of pandemic and local people didn't allow me to enter since I am foreigner as well. Xichang and Cold mountains were not on stars for me that time. Maybe next time :)

西昌是除了成都我最喜欢的四川城市，基本上每年都想去玩几次，尤其是冬天。
海在这里是湖的意思 不译成Ocean 北方也有称海子的 例如北京的南海子
另外还有 池、泡、荡、淀、泊、氿、洼、潭、漾、淖尔、错，都是各种湖的意思
