These stoves get hot. Even when using cans with fewer holes than the IKEA, we melted many of our aluminum prototypes. That's why we only make them from US-produced aerospace-grade titanium and 304 stainless steel. While designing the Cross-Members very lightweight, the material we use is also much thicker than is commonly used in portable camp stoves, making them much more durable and ensuring that our users have a stove that they can always depend upon, and can hand down for generations to come (and a great value, considering the amount of titanium used).
Hello Red Oak. You are correct -- I am guilty of putting a bit too much info on the site. I hope to re-design it with a simpler interface sometime. If you are interested in ordering a stove, I would be happy to assist you via email or phone. If you go directly to the Order page (siegestoves.com/order-stove.htm), you may find it more straightforward. I should mention that Mark Young has a new and thorough review of the stove on his channel at ruclips.net/video/ZL8zCsLAOp8/видео.html Thank you for your helpful feedback!
Thank you BrumCraft! Your support is much appreciated. We have barely marketed these, so if you are able to let others know about the Siege Stove, (in social media, forums, or any other venues) we will be very grateful! We designed the Cross-Members so that not only is it much easier to create a stove from an IKEA can (as well as almost any other can), but also so that the resulting stove has many other advantages. To begin with, it's very stable, not just at the base but also the pot support. It also disassembles easily, resulting in a more compact kit than a can with permanently bolted on legs, and pot supports. Another big benefit is that it is top-loading, so that you don't have to cut a gaping hole in the side of your IKEA canister (into which wind will blow, out of which embers will fall and fire will flow, thus reducing efficiency). The IKEA canister has a lot of capacity, so if you load it up after getting the fire going, it will burn for a while, but we made the tops the ideal height so that you can add fuel at any time and from any side without having to lift the pot off.
We put our Cross-Members through rough treatment, but it occurs to me that if you don't want to mark up your set, you can use a rubber mallet to tap them in, instead of a rock :)
Resourcefulness is good! A few advantages of our Cross-Members is that they are designed to fit almost every common can, including quart and gallon paint cans, and they have built-in hole-punches, so if you have a set in your gear / vehicle emergency kit, you can quickly make a stove from any discarded cans you find or cans you empty. Also, these fires can get very hot and we melted all our aluminum prototypes during the early development of the product. The Siege stainless steel or titanium Cross-Members can be depended on to never break down. Thanks for watching!
Hi Henry. I just saw your comment -- sorry for the late response. You can order the stove at siegestoves.com/order-stove.htm If you need any assistance, please contact me though the web site as I don't get to read RUclips comments regularly. Thank you for your interest!
We sure are! We are also making some really special belts. You can see both the stoves and belts by going to ExpeditionDepot.com and clicking the buttons which will take you to SiegeStoves.com and SiegeBelts.com I don't monitor RUclips comments closely, so if you have any questions, please contact us through our web sites and we will get back to you. Thank you for your interest!
You can buy them on our web site https:\\SiegeStoves.com (my apologies for the late reply) Also check out our one-of-a-kind belts. Thank you for your interest!
We worked on the stoves for some time and came to the conclusion that top -loading is the way to go, for several key reasons. Toward this end, we made the top Cross-Members tall enough so that fuel can be easily added over the rim of the can without needing to lift the pot. Once you have played with top loading, the advantages become clearer. I've had writers for a couple of magazines tell me that after getting their Siege Stoves for review, they also found this to be the case and as a result these were their favorite setups, with other writers jockeying with each other on who gets to keep the review stove :). I will need to post a video sometime that focuses on the differences between top-loading and side-loading. Cheers!
I've had reports from customers using the Walmart canister, but it requires crimping the can lip as it is a bit wider. The IKEA canister has superior construction, being pressed out of a single piece of metal, whereas the Walmart canister has a rolled edge at the bottom to hold a separate floor panel -- so I wouldn't expect it to last nearly as long as the IKEA. We keep IKEA canisters in stock as a convenience for customers, but if you have a store in your vicinity that will save you a bit.
Soot caused by incomplete burning or the fuel you use. If the top 50% of that utensil strainer was solid, you might get less soot. Some heat is lost through all those holes in the side. Strainer would be a good way to burn wood pellets for heat.
Hi Bob, Sorry -- I only just saw your posting on RUclips. You can order direct from our web site, SiegeStoves.com . You can also email us at sales@SiegeStoves.com if you have any questions or need assistance. Thank you! James Siege Stoves
Great question. We specifically designed them so that there is an ample gap under the pot to add twigs and other wood scraps, without the need to lift the pot. (my apologies for the late reply)

Hi Bob. The Cross-Members are 7" long by 1.9" high (to the tips of the fangs). I just saw your question -- sorry about the delayed response. More details on these and our high-performance Flat-Pack Stoves are available on our web site, SiegeStoves.com. You can also see our new Siege Belts!
The Cross-Members stabilize the top and bottom of the IKEA can so that it can easily support a large pot or pan. They also lift it off the ground for optimal air flow through the base. In addition, the gap at the top makes it easy to add fuel without lifting the pot or pan. This combination has appeared in a few magazines and smoked all the other stoves it was up against, with the fastest boil time by a big margin, and at a much lower price point. The traditional means of turning an IKEA can into a stove require work (bolting on heavy, narrow-set legs that increase the overall pack size, cutting a large flue hole in the side of the can for it to breathe since the pot sits on the can rim and blocks air flow). Overall the cross-members are a big improvement and pack down really compact. Once you've tried it, you will see how well it performs.
I've had mine a few years now. Fantastic piece of kit. Highly recommend! Don't take the mark of the beast. Start prepping yesterday...
Very good design, and all strips down. Will make one for my wife’s brother in the Philippines and take it this September, thanks
These cross members are awsome

Will those cross pieces fit the Walmart version of the IKEA one?

Awsome! Sell the idea to IKEA !
Ultimately please solve the sooting on the pot bottom.... perfect!

Kinda useless for the ikea stove tbh
