Going Fast On Bikes

Winning my 1st Cycling KOM, its not a bike race but you ride like it is. I'm on the Black Track Nuneaton. time to beat is 58 seconds set way back in 2014 & 2 mins 50 seconds. as I'm riding, I also give you a quick snippet of the local history of Nuneaton. Looks like I also got silver KOM on the longer section. Next I go for the gold.
I ride mostly in Zwift, but have started to explore the roads and trails all around me in Warwickshire and beyond. Sometimes on my Road Bike, or Gravel Bike and may even dust off the mountain bike.
The Black Track is now a shared nature trail enjoyed by the local community, people, dog walkers, cyclists and wildlife. It was originally used to transport coal between Stockingford and Ansley Collieries, but was abandoned when the mines closed in 1964.
Nuneaton is the largest town in Warwickshire and has a population of 91,334. Originally a small farming settlement as far back as the 12th Century, it later became a popular with textiles- Ribbon Manufacturing, which was surpassed by coal mining in the 17th Century. 1338 is the earliest recording of a coal mine in Nuneaton. The Last coal mine closed in 1968 and was owned originally owned by Sir Roger Newdigate. You may recognise the name from the development of the canals and he owned Arbury Estate. As the Industrial Revolution took hold and the town grew, so did the development of the railways. Nuneaton has a 7 platform station with trains taking you back from London in about an hour.
