Die Maschine ging nicht mehr, Ursache war wohl der Motorkohlenstaub auf der Hauptplatine. Nach einem Reinigungsbad in Isopropanol war die Funktion wieder gegeben.

This is an excellent video. I disassembled a KM001 6 years ago, took some photos and still have associated screws in separate boxes, I ordered a new electric motor then and now my wife forced me to put this all together. Thanks to this video the task was possible. Thanks a lot you saved my world! ;.) Kind regards from Germany!

Thank you for this excellent video. I used it as a guide to dis-assemble the top part of my Kenwood Chef Major Titanium KM020 to find out why oil/grease was leaking out of the gearbox. The cause was that the little (screwheaded) bolts + nuts that hold the 2 parts of the gearbox case together had become loose.
After I cleaned all the leaked oil/grease away, the fix was to remove each bolt and its associated nut, clean the threads on the bolt + nut, put Locktite on the nut threads, then put the bolt + nut back into the gearbox case and screw it tight. The Locktite will stop the bolt + nut from vibrating loose again. NB: final tightening of all the bolts must be done evenly in small turn increments in a cross-hatch pattern to prevent distortion of the gearbox case, and more leaking of the oil/grease

    einfacher.

does not run or has bad power then you have to change the blue capacitor.

During operation C1 loses its capacity. It must have the capacity 0.47µF.

I have the Kenwood Cooking Chef KM080 and the motor began to behave erratically yesterday while it was kneading dough for a pie. It also became hot, there was some smoke, the dough began to cook, and then it would no longer work at high speed for other things. There was also a burnt smell once I stopped it. I suspect the motor is kaput and needs changing. Thanks for the video. The problem is I live in the US, and, while Kenwood makes great products, it also has the lousiest marketing strategy I have ever encountered in a major company. For this reason, they left the US. Again. So I am stuck with a product that would normally be under warranty, only there is nobody to service it. I am livid, will be complaining to the appropriate US authorities, but in the meantime, this needs fixing. I hope I can get the part from Canada, but I am not very hopeful they ship to the US.

Only Costco.ca seems to have a Kenwood mixer, and the Kenwood Canada page has very little of anything. May I ask how long you've had your Cooking Chef? I have a Kenwood Chef KM001 of which the gearbox looks exactly the same as visible in this video and sadly I'm also stuck with the same wheel which lead to a search which lead me to this video ...
I tried to pull it off, no success. There are access holes from the oppsite side so I'm wondering if Kenwood was using special tool to access that screw from the opposite side - but that would appear mad unless the goal was to make that thing unrepairable - and there are easier methods, say welding :)
It seems a gearbox for the KM030 including shipping will set you back around 95€, my KM001 gearbox would be more like 55€ but I still haven't given up on disassembling it :-)
      Any progress on your side?

It is possible to remove the large white plastic gear on top. First remove the belt from the gear. Next insert a strong metal screwdriver (or similar tool) into the front slow speed power outlet (this is the one used for mincers, grain mills, etc) so the slotted metal shaft in this outlet cannot turn. Then try to turn the large white plastic gear anticlockwise by hand - after some resistance it will unloosen and can then be unscrewed off its shaft by hand. This gives you access to the screw holding one end of the gearbox case together so you can tighten it up.
The large white plastic gear is re-attached tightly by reversing the above process.

Same issue here, but this directly happened, after the overload protection was activated. I plugged the machine off, waited for a few minutes. After I plugged it in again, the lcd lights up, but no digits show up, exactly as you wrote.
Also waiting for hours didn't change anything, so I disassembled the whole thing today (this video was very helpful by the way!).
      Now I tested several things:
      - The engine works, if directly connected to power.
      - The Thermo resistor in the motor housing seems to be also OK (do not know what the correct values shall be but the electrical resistance decreases about 50% if warming it up with a hair dryer)
      - The magnetic switch, which detects if the machine was flipped up is also doing it's job correctly.
      - The speed sensor seems to be OK as well (although not sure how to measure this correctly, but upon rotation a current is measurable)
So something's still preventing the machine from working :-/
Did you get your Kenwood working again and if yes, what did you do to solve this? Thanks

    • @erikwagner118
      @erikwagner118 3 года назад

@MikeLin4th : Got it! You need to replace the main Power PCB as well as the Timer-PCB. (Sparepart Numbers KW715253 & KW714103)
It looks like the IC on both Modules got somehow damaged (or accidentally flashed? Who knows...) About 70€ material costs with shipping (to Germany).
So in my eyes woth it. But I'm worried how this could happen as a side effect from the overload protection (if so). The Machine was only about 6 years old! And for my buying decision, it was the electronic overload protection from the Kenwood to not buy the Kitchen Aid instead! Now I'll be more carful in the future and better avoid any overload...

Thanks for this video. Really helpful. One question though. The motor you take out at the end, there is an eggshell white cog on the top. Can this piece be removed/replaced?

Yes it can be, you need to pull it off the shaft. I make a self-made tool to pull it. You can buy a replace part in some online shops.

I have the same problem removing the belt pulley ( where the blender fits) from the driveshaft. Is it glued on, and need heating like you did in the other end? Is it possible to change it without removing the entire engine?

@@villadsbisbjerg2559 Hi, yes the belt pulley was stuck on well, however with a flat head screw driver you can pry it off bit by bit

Thanks a lot. I managed to get a new pulley. So I will use some violence to remove the old one.

@@villadsbisbjerg2559 Hi, did you manage to remove the small drive pulley? I bought a new from Kenwood (part# KMTHSP) but I still can't figure out how to remove the old one.

My Kenwood KVL60 (Chef XL Sense) also stops after a few seconds turning. I can turn it on again, but stops again and so on.... Sometimes it still works longer, I found that when leaving the powercord connected to the wall, the problem is worse. I'm guessing maybe a bad capacitor on the Power PCB?
It is using this PCB www.4kenwood.co.uk/chef-range/kvl6000t/power-pcb-assembly/product.pl?pid=4746140&path=590704,71679&model_ref=11531684
Or maybe something is wrong with the 'Sense', that it measures to much load somehow and stops the engine? It even shuts off when free running.

Try to replace the pcb, in my case this fix the same error.
