I don't read manga or watch anime, and I really didn't expect a live action series about a stretchy pirate to be even watchable. And yet I found One Piece to be one of the most genuinely enjoyable things I've watched in quite some time.
A good story does that even in a différent médium Obviously the manga is light ahead writing wise character are more developped etc but LA is decent for casual watcher
Same here. And I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed this show. I assume that fans of the One Piece may find some things lacking in the live action version, but this and Fallout (the only one of the two I was familiar with beforehand) have been such a feel-good shows to watch to me. "House of the Dragon" has become somewhat boring to me. "Rings of Power" are an utter crap. But I am so looking forward to the second season of this show and the "Fallout" series.
This show has regained my trust for the entertainment industry. They really can make good content when they actually do work hard and with the right people, including the creators of the IP.
INCREDIBLE. The fight scenes feature tons of impressive stunts and are dense with background action. The sets & costumes look amazing. Every actor is turning in a phenomenal performance (I can already tell Arlong Park is gonna be a tearjerker). FOXY! The One Piece is Real.

I hate this line. He promised that he would never lose. Not that Luffy is going to be his captain to the end. It is especially jarring considering Zoro's amazing speach after Luffy's duel against Usopp.
I won’t lie…this looks very promising. One piece was the last anime I would see actually fit a live action setting but for some reason this is looking more and more likely to be actually good. The cast the setting looks honestly promising (even though Arlong and shanks kinda look weird to me) I’m really looking forward to this
Here again after watching the series. I've been reading the manga for 15 years and really have to admit that this series broke the live-action flop curse. Props to the production team! They did a super great job!
One of the reasons I love this show is because every episode leaves you with a sense of joy! Good job Netflix. Glad you can make shows like this and give the world a feel good feeling!
I’m a 40 year old father of one, I’ve heard of one piece before and knew what it was, but had never really been exposed to it. Every second of watching this, I was 10 years old again, and loved every one of those seconds. It’s campy, it’s ridiculous, but it has a giant giant heart and is an immense amount of fun to watch.
I am probably gonna get destroyed over this take but this Live Action Adaptation has gotten me more invested in the franchise than anything else, having watched the 4Kids Dub as a kid, Funi Dub as an Adult, clips of iconic moments, and a gaggle of my friends telling me to read the manga.
Nothing wrong with that, everyone has their preferences. You are enjoying the story, that’s a win. The only people that would complain are the same ones that haven’t touched grass in half a year
Iñaki was the best casting for Luffy. The way he cheerily and earnestly says “the line,” puts a big ol’ smile on my face. He’s not trying to impress anyone, he’s just being himself, and it’s a real “Get on board, or get out of the way” moment.

His spirit sounds exactly like Luffy. But he's more intelligent than anime Luffy, which I think works better for live-action. We wouldn't want people hating Luffy for being so dumb. Anime Luffy wouldn't know the word mutiny.
Finally a netflix show without all the annoying black-washing and turning male characters into female ones! Love it! Sure hope they keep this up, and not change character designs like they've done in 100s of other shows ruining them in the process!
the easter eggs, the settings, the fact that most of the cast’s wardrobe comes from manga covers… everything is just a testament to how thoughtfully planned this was and the care that was put into it. i’m extremely excited to watch this
for many characters there's a reason why they look or dress like that so oda wasnt gonna let them change that and i've heard the director's passionate abt one piece too and one piece wardrobe and looks plays a part in manga and anime.
The fact they showed off Foxy and Bellamy posters just shows that everyone is working hard for such a passion project. I've never been more excited for a live action series in my life...

I'm actually crying aaa. One piece means so much to me, it became my coping mechanism during times of loss. Seeing the one piece world in real life is a new kind of wonder for me. I am excited to relive the experience once again even after rewatching the series for two times haha.

I’ve only been through one ep so far but i must say the actors of Zoro Nami & Morgan done an excellent job. Also loved the little scene with Baroque Works.👍 Can’t wait to see how they’ll pull off Haki/Df powers etc.
I‘m scared of setting my expectations too high but after watching this I can’t help feeling a little hopeful that this might be the one adaptation to actually turn out good. One Piece creates dreamers after all.
@@rainesaysdie863 Yeah they had to tone down a lot of the scenes as it would looked WAY too childish if you can't have some of the scenes be a little more serious. Personally think having a touch of the humor / unrealistic nature and still being able to put more varied tones in could help translate it to live action.

As someone who has never seen a full episode of the anime or read any of the manga, this gives off Pirates of the Caribbean crossed with anime vibes. I love it. I think I might need to watch this when it comes out.
The actor who played Gol D. Roger nailed the laugh. It wasn't just a trivial laugh. It looks like the laugh of a man with a hidden agenda and seeing his plan getting fulfilled. SPOILER: He wants to start the great pirate era to inspire the next Joy Boy among them. That plan starts with him announcing the "find it, take it" pertaining to his treasure on his well televised execution.

Spotted all of them besides dragon, I think the cavendish poster is the thing that caught me most of guard though. Definitely didn't expect them to be doing world bundling (Easter eggs) for that deep into the series.
Nah this is like when you draw something and it looks great until you take a pause and look at it again, only then you notice how terrible it is...Oda will regret this when it's done.

That gatling was beautiful 😢. The effects on buggy look great. The more outlandish things (like fishmen) were never gonna look perfect live action, and thats when its important to remember this isnt trying to be a shot for shot remake of the anime/manga. It's its own thing. Let's let it be itself instead of comparing it and I think we'll have a good time. I'm so excited to watch this.
My only gripe seems to be the fight fx. Specifically sanji. It seemed like he just floated in to kick a Fishman in one scene. Edit: he didn't float in but after he kicked him he just sorta calmly floated back down😂
I applaud them for going practical for the fishman I just think they should have gone the puppet animatronic route. Sure Arlong fights would need to be creatively shot but at least he wouldn't look like a guy in a goofy rubber mask.
My problem with Arlong is that he's not as big as I thought he would be or maybe Luffy is too tall, I don't even know. In 2:09, they look about the same height. Otherwise, trailer looks good.

I was hoping they'd stick to the original. The dark stuff is what makes the characters and their motivation for following Luffy. Getting rid of the backstory is what ruins it and turns the characters into a joke.

Mugiwara crew nailed it, if I'm being honest here. There is a few scene here where Luffy seems like he forced himself, but everyone starts from scratch. Keep up a good work, Luffy. Everyone is expecting some good result from you.

good luck bro. One Piece OG anime is old now so you may try to keep up with old-style anime at the beginning of the series. Up to currently, it is still one of my favorite anime ever. The only flaw I experienced is the slow pacing sometimes and thats only it

For live action TV anime adaptations there hasn't been one of definitive quality from a US company (to my knowledge, could be forgetting something) yet except Drops of God, which not enough people watched

They took a risk and spent a lot of money to make this. Oda approved it. Now it is up to us to support the show. If it earns enough, it gets even better. As One Piece fans, if there's one thing we've learned. It's that we never leave our Nakama.
@@Guy_Dude They did spend a lot of money on this, the budget is enough to make an A-tier 1 hr 45 min movie. Unfortunately, that kind of budget is still not good enough to support 8 episodes show. As I can see, their budget allocation priority went mostly to the sets. Vfx and costume design came second/third. 1 ship built alone probably takes a couple of million, and we've seen quite a few on this trailer.

I can't believe there are people who still hating this series. Why does it have to compare with anime since both are different medium. As Oda said it is his last try to make one piece more global . And he has been in this process from the beginning. It doesn't have to be exactly like the anime, just need to capture the emotions of onepiece and deliver it to non fans. And I think this LA is capable for that. Love the cast and crew. Also their effort for this dream is praiseworthy. Katta waiting for season 2❤
I’m just really, really happy that Kuro is in here. He was the reason I got into one piece to begin with. The foreshadowing with how he adjusted his glasses was awe-inspiring to me. Hope he doesn’t change much from the anime portrayal!
While some of the character models are slightly goofy, the special effects, sets and costumes all look amazing. It has a lot of potential and you can really feel the cast and crews passion come through, the effort they’ve put in is incredible

Im glad theyre doing justice to the main character, Buggy D. Clown, so well. They even created suspense in the trailer by only showing him for half a second, truly a well made trailer!!
Honestly gives off the One Piece vibes without making it super weird. I think this might be as well done as possible for the kind of anime One Piece is.
It’s not too extreme and obvious, but realistic, that’s why it’s always annoying when fans want it to resemble exactly like the anime, it just wouldn’t look real to exaggerate every anime detail.
Inaki is the worst casting of the entire show imo. His voice is way too squeaky and high pitched and he speaks with a heavy accent and lisp that's insanely distracting, it's hard to take him seriously and doesn't fit Luffy at all.
I have to say I'm impressed at how close they remained close to the source material.. wow . Even the combat?I have to give credit for it . Hope the story is well executed

I'm actually tearing up. This is incredible. The wanted posters for Foxy and Bellamy, the hat scene, Zoro pledging himself to Luffy. I pray this gets a few seasons. At least up to Ennies Lobby.
I wanna see their take on Brooks, so maybe up to Thriller Bark. Plus, Bink's Sake is a banger and any interpretation of that song (done with love and care) can't be bad.

i just recently got netflix again,one piece is the best series on netflix by a country mile,only for netflix i would have ever heard of it,the news is there is going to be a second series bring it on, its brillant.
Zoro and Mihawk are still two of the coolest characters in One Piece, even here in live action. CG stuffs looks nice for the most part, as they should be. Hopefully Netflix do the series justice and redeem themselves a bit with this Live Action. Really looking forward to it. :)
Fishmen are supposed to look odd though, I think the most important thing was to make sure that they don't look "cheap" and they made a really good job with it in my opinion.
I was sure the fight against buggy would look goofy af but it's so much better than what i imagined lets hope the actors get to live for the 1K episodes

I think they said the first season, 8 episodes, will consist all the way to logue town, so if it lasts all through the manga, it will definately be shorter.
I'm pretty sure they'll be hour long episodes combining some episodes. Also, I doubt they'll have filler even though that one marine base is still one of the best filler episodes of all time. Without all of the recaps, you could probably fit four episodes into one. So dividing and omitting filler could realistically see the live action series going to roughly 300 episodes.
I have been a one piece fan for 12 years and after watching this trailer the emotion I have the most is happiness. The fact that they are taking live action so seriously makes me feel pure and genuine happiness. For us long-time fans, it's going to be something unique and entertaining, and the fact that this is done with love and care makes me happy, because more people will know why one piece is special. I could not ask for more!
Watched in 1999 because we had a local dub that aired once a week then they stopped after alabasta. Resorted to limewire and kazaa downloading in real media format. Still have them saved on vcd. Took a break during Zou coz I got married and got 2 kids. Now I just catched up. Still blown away that this is still going. I want to tell me younger self who is clueless when this is going to end that my 42 year old self is still watching.

Nobody is forcing someone else to be up to date as fast as possible. I wish i had a show that is that long available to me. Never having a Moment to think what i would want to watch currently for example while eating. It is Something to be enjoyed and not rushed through.

Personally think having a touch of the humor / unrealistic nature and still being able to put more varied tones in could help translate it to live action.

That gatling was beautiful 😢. The effects on buggy look great. The more outlandish things (like fishmen) were never gonna look perfect live action, and thats when its important to remember this isnt trying to be a shot for shot remake of the anime/manga. It's its own thing. Let's let it be itself instead of comparing it and I think we'll have a good time. I'm so excited to watch this.
My only gripe seems to be the fight fx. Specifically sanji. It seemed like he just floated in to kick a Fishman in one scene.

I applaud them for going practical for the fishman I just think they should have gone the puppet animatronic route. Sure Arlong fights would need to be creatively shot but at least he wouldn't look like a guy in a goofy rubber mask.
My problem with Arlong is that he's not as big as I thought he would be or maybe Luffy is too tall, I don't even know. In 2:09, they look about the same height. Otherwise, trailer looks good.

As I can see, their budget allocation priority went mostly to the sets. Vfx and costume design came second/third. 1 ship built alone probably takes a couple of million, and we've seen quite a few on this trailer.

And he has been in this process from the beginning. It doesn't have to be exactly like the anime, just need to capture the emotions of onepiece and deliver it to non fans. Honestly gives off the One Piece vibes without making it super weird. I think this might be as well done as possible for the kind of anime One Piece is.

It’s not too extreme and obvious, but realistic, that’s why it’s always annoying when fans want it to resemble exactly like the anime, it just wouldn’t look real to exaggerate every anime detail.

Inaki is the worst casting of the entire show imo. His voice is way too squeaky and high pitched and he speaks with a heavy accent and lisp that's insanely distracting, it's hard to take him seriously and doesn't fit Luffy at all.
Genuinely one of the best trailers i have ever seen.
I have to say I'm impressed at how close they remained close to the source material.. wow . Even the combat?I have to give credit for it .

Whether this show is a success or a failure, this will definitely bring more fans to read and watch One Piece!!

I'm actually tearing up. This is incredible. The wanted posters for Foxy and Bellamy, the hat scene, Zoro pledging himself to Luffy. I pray this gets a few seasons. At least up to Ennies Lobby.
I wanna see their take on Brooks, so maybe up to Thriller Bark. Plus, Bink's Sake is a banger and any interpretation of that song (done with love and care) can't be bad.
Why stop there? with Wano about to come to a close it would be great so see it in live action. Along with seeing Vegapunk on screen.

i just recently got netflix again,one piece is the best series on netflix by a country mile,only for netflix i would have ever heard of it,the news is there is going to be a second series bring it on, its brillant.
Zoro and Mihawk are still two of the coolest characters in One Piece, even here in live action. CG stuffs looks nice for the most part, as they should be. Hopefully Netflix do the series justice and redeem themselves a bit with this Live Action. Really looking forward to it. :)

Arlong is odd looking but this looks better than I expected and as good as I hoped. THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!
I think it was a good choice to make him "human-sized", otherwise it would've been a crazy amount of CG usage. I do think the nose looks wonky tho
Fishmen are supposed to look odd though, I think the most important thing was to make sure that they don't look "cheap" and they made a really good job with it in my opinion.

I think they said the first season, 8 episodes, will consist all the way to logue town, so if it lasts all through the manga, it will definately be shorter.
I'm pretty sure they'll be hour long episodes combining some episodes. Also, I doubt they'll have filler even though that one marine base is still one of the best filler episodes of all time. Without all of the recaps, you could probably fit four episodes into one. So dividing and omitting filler could realistically see the live action series going to roughly 300 episodes.
at the rate these things work lets hope they stay young for a couple hundred years lol

I have been a one piece fan for 12 years and after watching this trailer the emotion I have the most is happiness. The fact that they are taking live action so seriously makes me feel pure and genuine happiness. For us long-time fans, it's going to be something unique and entertaining, and the fact that this is done with love and care makes me happy, because more people will know why one piece is special. I could not ask for more!

Watched in 1999 because we had a local dub that aired once a week then they stopped after alabasta. Resorted to limewire and kazaa downloading in real media format. Still have them saved on vcd. Took a break during Zou coz I got married and got 2 kids. Now I just catched up. Still blown away that this is still going. I want to tell me younger self who is clueless when this is going to end that my 42 year old self is still watching.

@@JacobBielecki that is one Argument i never understood when one piece is brought up. Why is the lenght of the show a Problem? It is not a sprint. Nobody is forcing someone else to be up to date as fast as possible. I wish i had a show that is that long available to me. Never having a Moment to think what i would want to watch currently for example while eating. It is Something to be enjoyed and not rushed through.
