    keep your rod tip up, and don't horse the fish. just keep the line tight and take what the fish gives you. sixty five years of trout fishing has taught me not to pump the rod or try to break the trouts neck.jmho

      Good advice! I’m trying not to be too rough with them, I’ve lost so many this year I’m probably too timid with them sometimes. I am also using more weedless hooks than I have in the past so not sure I’m getting initial solid hookups either. Since most ones that get off are on that #3 weedless hook on that smaller paddle tail. Thanks for watching!

    You might try setting the hook. You will lose less. Just saying.
