a quick update. tried it with my thumbs (like a controller) and its a mixed bag. Using it like this or with thumbs both have advantages and disadvantages, and, I'm not going to beat around the bush, my thumbs are just a little too fat 😂
+RmRoyalflush I'd seriously rather game using an IBM/Lenovo trackpoint then a touch pad. the only thing I find touch pads good for are is basic browsing when I forget to throw my mouse in my backpack for my Thinkpad, or I need to pinch zoom in/out on something.
+Kevin Bennett just search eBay for "Mini Bluetooth backlit keyboard" or some variant, & a few thousand listing will show up for various models for under $20 US.
yeah that's the best way to use one of these, I had one that was slightly bigger with a backlit keyboard for back when I used my Wii as a quick web browser back in 08/09ish, and later on work presentations as they have a build in laser pointer he forget to point out, along with the fact the arrow keys work as a scroll wheel, gaming however is not one of it's strong points for sure.
That is the kind of thing that would go well with a portable raspberry pc, I have seen someone using it with the raspberry 3 already and the whole pc can fit inside your pocket. RandomGaminginHD would you do something like that?
I bought one of these for my sister for Xmas. It's perfect for her needs, as she uses her computer for Netflix before bed. Being able to control the computer from across the room is exactly what you would want this for, so it's ideal for HTPCs.
This is cool. I use an app called Remote Mouse to control my computer with my phone when I have it connected to the screen. It has the same exact functionality of this little keyboard. You can use your screen as a trackpad, tap the screen to click, use your phone keyboard to type etc. Except it works over wifi instead of Bluetooth.
Omg, the item i was try to find for my smartphone, my best game (minecraft) and my car (golf iv) all in one video! You are on my world heheheh Greats from spain!
love your videos brother! been subbed for a while now and still find myself re-watching old content. really really enjoy what your doing, it makes me want to start doing pc hardware reviews! anyways keep it up love the channel!
Hey bro, As an upcoming technology channel myself I can safely say your content is amazing and I'm a daily watcher. I love how you focus on budget gear and keep up the good work, Thanks for the great content.
Or you could get an EWEADN LK003, £25, RGB, 9 presets with smooth LED movement and windowed keys. It is not mechanical but it gives the mechanical feel...
Have you actually used a mechanical keyboard, or are you going by marketing? I have never seen a keyboard that felt like a mech unless it was a mech. Its not like a mechanical is necessary, but its so different, that it makes a regular office keyboard feel so bad, you just want to type on those by smashing your face into the keyboard each time instead of using your fingers. Before I got a mech, I was perfectly fine with a basic office keyboard, but now they all feel like trash... The only non-mech keyboards I like are my old HP PS2 keyboard (built like a tank, weighs over 4 pounds, you can stop a murderer with an axe with it, its that sturdy) and my M$ curved wireless keyboard (because its curved and has macro keys).
Yeah, "I fired up a bot-match with the impression it would be easier. It was not." Think he only started playing CSGO online because everyone was complaining about him playing against bots. Still he's not as bad as I would be. I don't know why I bought it on PC really, I played the 360 version when it was on sale, and stopped once I got all the non-grindy/impossible achievements.
I am actually quite interested in getting one of these for my HTPC setup since it looks to be really close to the size of a TV remote. Where did you get this!?
Bluetooth versions are available, but usually these are not Bluetooth, they use nRF24. It's technically vaguely similar to Bluetooth, but much cheaper and not compatible. The primary use for these was intended to be home theatre PC for very occasional typing, so they vaguely have the size and shape of a remote control, a bit too thick to be a tablet companion, besides having keys of quality that wouldn't be acceptable, and a bit too long to accompany a phone.
I have one similar, but with a layout more like a game controller. While great for navigation on a htpc, they are trash for gaming. I always love seeing videos like this, because its the stupid kind of stuff I've ether tried or wanted to try, and no other tech page bothers giving things like this a go.
I had one of these a few years ago for a htpc build. It was usable but there's a noticeable input lag and the worst thing was if the battery wasn't fully charged then the trackpad had a tendency to cause the mouse pointer to erratically jump all over the place. If you're not prepared to use a kb + mouse ten pay the extra and get a Logitech k400+ or the Microsoft equivalent. You won't regret it.
One tip, when you use a touchpad and want to scroll. Put two fingers on the touchpad and simply swipe up or down, up makes the page go down and down makes the page go up
This is meant primarily for HTPC use for browsing from the couch. Try holding it in your hands rather than on a surface and press the keys with your thumbs. there's not enough key spacing for traditional 10-finger typing styles.
Watching because I have the exact same keyboard! Thanks mate I use this for the downstairs tv so I can control my pc which is upstairs, it's meant for a quick way to open up a game which I then use my 360 controller for. It's nice and handy for what I want it to do!
I have one like that but then it's a tiny bit different design and it also has left and right shoulder buttons like a gamepad which is really cool instead of being cramped around the touchpad. Use it as a secondary pc keyboard for things that sharemouse refuses to do with some things like hotkeys set in certain apps lol.
RandomGaminginHD can you do more videos on the AMD a4 6300, or perhaps overclocking on it? That happens to be my current processor, paired with a GTX 745. I'm new to OCing and I know all processors are different but I want to know how I would go at it. I'm trying to be able to get a playable framerate on Fallout 4 in the cities.
it's not Bluetooth, its 2.4ghz. I've had one for a few years now, it's nice when i HAVE to use a keyboard and mouse, so if I need to do something on a raspberry pi, or plug it into whatever and type something in, or deal with an issue. for kodi or a media center, it still makes a nice remote. if you use two thumbs you could probably do emulation like Super Mario Bros. or Sonic on the Genesis.
I have this velco attached to my Sim Racing Rig. It's very convenient in VR when you can't see or reach for a keyboard or mouse from a driving position. Performance is.... 'good enough'... but far easier than overreaching and falling out of my rig... which ... sadly.. did happen. Okay look, in my defense, I was also drinking and sim driving. But 3 beers is optimum for lap times... It's good for like, 0.3s per lap? but 4 beers add 0.2s per lap. It's a careful balance of blood alcohol level. I digress a little... ... fun keyboard, but finicky touchpad.
Hey this information about "your fat fingers" helps us people in the USA who are all fat in general so don't worry about it man. Just keep doing what you do best.
How many people raged in the back of their minds screaming "PICK IT UP LIKE A CONTROLLER!!!" I've used one of these perfectly fine with my thumbs even for a little light gaming. It does take some getting used to, but it is totally more usable than you're making it out to be. It's designed mainly for mobile and to be used in your hands, not on a table...clearly!
Hello! Could you do a video about how much power one could squeeze out of a gt210? It is the worst video card on the market brand new and I wonder if it could be something more with a bit of overclocking. I know that it isn't quite worth it in situations where one could upgrade, but if you've got a low profile case or a weak PSU or your integrated GPU decided to derp out you could be stuck with it. Love the videos and keep up the great work!
To be fair this keyboard is probably meant for an HTPC Particularily netfix. its a tv remote. Something you can leave on the end table and when you want to search a movie its better then using the dpad and going to every letter.
It's actually a good idea if you don't want something like a lapdog (the thing where you put your keyboard on it) for casual gaming, for any other genre of games, no
Hey RandomGaming, You should try the geforce gt120. its a gem desktop gpu commonly found in a mac pro. Since old opus are are your thing, that might be fun to try :)
I prefer the Rii 8+, backlighting on the buttons and more ergonomic, plus its about the smallest I would go with a keyboard for comfortable use. They are usually the same price as those mini keyboards as well. I wouldnt touch the ones with the flat circular pads at the top though as the 2 of them I have tired have been finicky at best as they were prone to major input lag.
It's (unofficially) an HTPC remote. That's what it's designed for, that and presentations so it's not surprising that it sucks for gaming. Edit: They make fullsize keyboards with all the same features that might be much more comfortable.
i had this idea to you make a special vid on: you build a low end pc, within a certain amount of money and then The LowSpecGamer should try to play some games on it, doing all the tweaks needed for the game to work properly. what do you guys think?
I need your advise. Should I go for a second GTX 970 for SLI or should I stick with a single GTX 970 for now and upgrade my i7 4790k to a i7 7700k instead? This would basically cost the same for me, I just had to upgrade my psu for about 75$ if I want to go for the GTX 970 SLI later after I upgraded to the newer i7. What should I do for now?
the i5 2400 is a good cpu, i have it. but heavy cpu games like gta IV and open world games struggle on it, probably because of its slower clock speed and lower c/t count, plus it runs fairly hot. mine on a stock cooler idles 40c and gets too around 60-65c under load. Plus streaming on it at all even low endgames it struggles(of course its not made for it). Shadows on just about any newer game need to be on medium.
I got 2 HP 7800 Ultra Small Form Factor PCs, one for Dad for Netflix in bed and one for me to use for VST audio effects in live guitar gigs. Got two of these Rii devices and LOVE them. Sure - gaming Ive not tried (and wont given the hardware we have) but for our use, these are fantastic. (also using a Mimo usb 7" display so my set-up is super portable and small enough!)
for the games where the keyboard was the bottle neck would it have worked if you used the keyboard more like a controller and the WASD like a nintendo dpad?
dude. it's not not a mouse. it's a track pad. I loved your video and a quick question what would would be the best way to physically upgrade a computer from 98"? Thanks
a quick update. tried it with my thumbs (like a controller) and its a mixed bag. Using it like this or with thumbs both have advantages and disadvantages, and, I'm not going to beat around the bush, my thumbs are just a little too fat 😂
well gaming on a touchpad is never a good option
You NEED to contact Linus and get your butt on the next Scrapyard wars. I have a feeling you would win against both Linus, Luke, and Austin.
Agumon5 oh I would definitely win haha
+RmRoyalflush I'd seriously rather game using an IBM/Lenovo trackpoint then a touch pad. the only thing I find touch pads good for are is basic browsing when I forget to throw my mouse in my backpack for my Thinkpad, or I need to pinch zoom in/out on something.

FearlessGaming yes haha I tried that too. it was more awkward with the mouse like that to be fair
yeah that's the best way to use one of these, I had one that was slightly bigger with a backlit keyboard for back when I used my Wii as a quick web browser back in 08/09ish, and later on work presentations as they have a build in laser pointer he forget to point out, along with the fact the arrow keys work as a scroll wheel, gaming however is not one of it's strong points for sure.

like is said I personally found it easier to use holding it in my hands with my thumbs, but I never did use it for gaming though lol!

again, we need banana for scale sir.
You could build a PC for the price of this keyboard
Omg, the item i was try to find for my smartphone, my best game (minecraft) and my car (golf iv) all in one video!
You are on my world heheheh
Greats from spain!
SOMEONE ANYBODY PLEASE DO A DARK SOULS RUN WITH THIS
A.K.A. if you force someone to play DS with it and expect him to finish it you're the evilest person ever
Funny, but even with a regular mouse and keyboard, Dark Souls will crush you
love your videos brother! been subbed for a while now and still find myself re-watching old content. really really enjoy what your doing, it makes me want to start doing pc hardware reviews! anyways keep it up love the channel!

Sausage fingers! Had to laugh when you said that, great video as always.
Im sure u could've gotten a cm devastator combo for like 10bucks more lol
you cant use a cm devastator combo in your couch
Kimi Ariffin i got a razer black widow chroma from my friend for £15
Cory InDaHouse sadly no retailer is stupid enough to do so tho....:')
Or you could get an EWEADN LK003, £25, RGB, 9 presets with smooth LED movement and windowed keys. It is not mechanical but it gives the mechanical feel...

Pudabudigada like the PSP analog nub?
Am I the only one thinking that his CS:GO Gameplay doesn't look any different than usual? :P
Yeah, "I fired up a bot-match with the impression it would be easier. It was not." Think he only started playing CSGO online because everyone was complaining about him playing against bots. Still he's not as bad as I would be. I don't know why I bought it on PC really, I played the 360 version when it was on sale, and stopped once I got all the non-grindy/impossible achievements.
man, you come up with the strangest, but most interesting bits of kit, and you make it fun to watch. great work !! 👍👍
+RD Simmers thanks :)
When he said "usable for everyday and of course gaming purposes" I almost passed out laughing.
''sausage fingers'' XD pissing myself laughing rn XD
For racing games, you could map the throttle/brakes to the a and z keys, which is what I do most of the times anyways.
Jesus Christ this have been sitting in my watch later playlist for more than 1 month
best you tuber ever :)
its the size of a remote, it more than likely designed for htpc's
I am actually quite interested in getting one of these for my HTPC setup since it looks to be really close to the size of a TV remote. Where did you get this!?

This keyboard (or one very similar) features in the Linus Tech Tips video "The road to 4k videos- our camera" He uses it as a teleprompter remote.
Watching because I have the exact same keyboard! Thanks mate
I use this for the downstairs tv so I can control my pc which is upstairs, it's meant for a quick way to open up a game which I then use my 360 controller for. It's nice and handy for what I want it to do!
I use a Bluetooth mini keyboard such as the one in this vid for my htpc and it's really very good. Using Kodi etc is a breeze and works faultlessly.
I have one of those, might not be the exact same one but very similar. Good for media centre PCs, when you basically just want a remote

This would be a pretty good lil' controller thing for The Binding of Isaac.
I think this thing was made for Media PCs, for example machines running XBMC, like a Raspberry Pi.
Lol that was erm....... different and quite funny 👍🏻
"sausage fingers"
your girl must be proud :D!
how much money worth of parts do you own? can you make a vid about your inventory?
oh how i love this channel
it's not Bluetooth, its 2.4ghz. Hey this information about "your fat fingers" helps us people in the USA who are all fat in general so don't worry about it man. Just keep doing what you do best.
Reminds me of those PS3 controller keyboards that you attatch to an official PS3 controller. I think the keys on those were even smaller!
What do you recommend for playing Skyrim Special Edition with some Mods and Medium Settings as cheap as possible? (CPU, GPU)
How many people raged in the back of their minds screaming "PICK IT UP LIKE A CONTROLLER!!!"
I've used one of these perfectly fine with my thumbs even for a little light gaming. It does take some getting used to, but it is totally more usable than you're making it out to be. It's designed mainly for mobile and to be used in your hands, not on a table...clearly!
looks like a cool gadget to plug to a smart tv
It's 1:13 AM in the morning here. Well, even technically, I'm early!
Hello!
Could you do a video about how much power one could squeeze out of a gt210? It is the worst video card on the market brand new and I wonder if it could be something more with a bit of overclocking. Love the videos and keep up the great work!
I quite enjoyed this video!
i like that it has a dedicated Ctrl+Alt+Del function
Valfaun yeah I thought that, its backlit too
I may get one for my shield tablet when it's in console mode because it might help navigate through things.
You know, for racing games you can just bind forward/backward on one side of keyboard and left/right on the other and it will be pretty playable))
You should do more stuff like this, lol.
Perhaps a nice (bad) idea would be to get a steering wheel and play FPS games with it like TF2, CSGO, etc.
These keyboards are absolutely great when using them with a tiny PC like Raspberry Pis or Beaglebones.
I actually use one of these things for my htpc. Its size and form work perfectly for a living room pc.
Imagine just wanting to play tf 2 and accidentally call for a medic every time you move
You got weird ideas I like that
I think this thing initially was created for usage with SmartTVs and such things. Seems ok for them.
To be fair this keyboard is probably meant for an HTPC Particularily netfix. its a tv remote. Something you can leave on the end table and when you want to search a movie its better then using the dpad and going to every letter.
It's actually a good idea if you don't want something like a lapdog (the thing where you put your keyboard on it) for casual gaming, for any other genre of games, no
This keyboard deserves an :"It's hard to type with one hand"
Hey RandomGaming, You should try the geforce gt120. its a gem desktop gpu commonly found in a mac pro. Since old opus are are your thing, that might be fun to try :)
I was dying when he said "with my fat fingers" lmao.
This thing is great if you are using it for netflix from bed or the couch, other than that it would be really hard to game with
People use this model of keyboard w Kodi / OpenELEC quite often. Works great w my Raspberry Pi's
i bought one of these to use with my smart tv, works quite well for searching youtube on that!
If the GPD Pocket had a keyboard layout like this and the same track pad I would blindly buy it.
I have one and use it when I hook uo my laptop to the TV. Pretty useful thing :)
that would be awesome for a livingroom HTPC
I definitelly think that RGinHD should make a collab with low spec gamer
i had this idea to you make a special vid on: you build a low end pc, within a certain amount of money and then The LowSpecGamer should try to play some games on it, doing all the tweaks needed for the game to work properly. what do you guys think?
Your video is much better than MS tech small keyboard vid.
What should I do for now?
can you do a video on the i5 2400? and if it stands up today
HockeyFat definitely need that.
HockeyFat Hey I actually have one with with a GTX 760 SC, what kinda games are u looking to play on it
I have one and yes it does.
the i5 2400 is a good cpu, i have it. but heavy cpu games like gta IV and open world games struggle on it, probably because of its slower clock speed and lower c/t count, plus it runs fairly hot. mine on a stock cooler idles 40c and gets too around 60-65c under load. Plus streaming on it at all even low endgames it struggles(of course its not made for it). Shadows on just about any newer game need to be on medium.
HockeyFat try to get a 2500k
you should of tried holding it like a controller, i'm gonna order one just so i can try it.
For nfs you could change the acceleration, brakes and reverse, and steering to wasd
NFS Underground 1. wow! been years...
or, you know, C H A N G E T H E K E Y B I N D I N G S
Best suited for Android boxes and Kodi builds via Raspberry pi etc....
U sure that’s not just a messed up calculator?
Probably nice for smart tvs or console typing?
I got 2 HP 7800 Ultra Small Form Factor PCs, one for Dad for Netflix in bed and one for me to use for VST audio effects in live guitar gigs. Got two of these Rii devices and LOVE them. Sure - gaming Ive not tried (and wont given the hardware we have) but for our use, these are fantastic.
(also using a Mimo usb 7" display so my set-up is super portable and small enough!)
for the games where the keyboard was the bottle neck would it have worked if you used the keyboard more like a controller and the WASD like a nintendo dpad?
great video as always, but next time please try to add a link to the product you're making the video about.
I feel like you should have used 2 fingers on the needforspeed, and one for the GTa
i think this is made for a pc that is connected to a TV in the living room, or steam link or something like that.
you forgot to throw banana for scale, never not use a banana for scale
should i get this for my nephew? he is only 2 days old and he needs to get into the pc master race quick!!
I use one of these with my little chromebook and it's really useful
dude. it's not not a mouse. it's a track pad. I loved your video and a quick question what would would be the best way to physically upgrade a computer from 98"? Thanks
