I was going to subscribe but the funds are not where they should be yet thanks supporters! Love these videos! I was bad spent my first cash I scrapped together for a badmotivator legacy barrel. It cheats the Angels out of their Cut! Very pleased with this little 1.8gallon barrel which has gone in as my 3rd primary fermenter and hopefully will malolactic ferment everything! So exciting! I was thinking it would be incredible with the 2 gallon conical but I might have to save and get the larger one!

Bread yeast in the boiling water will kill it and make it nutrient for the wine yeast. Brilliant! My wife loves cantaloupe. Thinking I could try that with this recipe too. Thank you much!

I managed to complete a fermentation in 3 days by pre-fermenting an infused honey infused with the berries I was typically making. I can't find the winemaking technique not even in the mead forums for these guys. Pretty fun though infused honey but it's like a ticking timebomb and threw off my entire ferment but in a very good way. Three days should keep it from stressing so maybe I can front-load all of my nutrient subs. It was fun regardless and I am really enjoying this hobby thanks DYI Merry Christmas!

sorry I'm impulsive but Honey Dew Melon Honey Dew Melon Infused Honey Wine is the best description. I know you said you love meads so I just thought I would drop this here for maybe something fun. But sure just 75% fruit to 2 lbs of honey in a big canning jar is my recipe. I'm going to sub the vinegar I was using for citric thanks to the blending tips, I really think it could work well. The goal is to use those grapes / whatever in a jelly too! I managed to use my mango in a jelly and still infuse!

When using a bubble airlock, would you say it’s best practice to fill it to the MAX line?

Would running your chopped fruit through a blender make much of a difference?

Did you leave the tap on the fermenter open when it was in the sink?
it looked like it was emptying out, also the valve was left which is usually open.

Been looking through your videos. I haven't seen a chocolate wine.
Have you done this yet. If not it will take some time about 1-2 years

7:18 adding yeast in boiling water??? won't it kill all the yeast immediately?

    • @DIYFermentation

That's the whole point. Dead yeast cells act as a yeast nutrient to the yeast added later.

Well the tea is used as a source of tannin, apparently adding tannin increase wine flavour profile and contributes in stabilizing wine colour
