I've been listening to this song ever since I made this reaction video. I think I've heard it more than 10 times already. 😮😃 I was curious about this song so I looked for more information. 😃 And why am I feeling sad at the same time? 😲😭
And here's what I found out more after searching!😃🤓
    2. And the fact that cuckoos, elephants, peacocks, etc. in the lyrics are all connected and one in nature. 😮
3.There is also a lot of connection with Tamil and Africa. The Roots are same! (Am I right?) 😮
    4. And finally,.....Tamilian should be proud!! 🤗😎
Please let me know more about this song though comments. It's always a pleasure to me to get to know India, Indian culture and Indian people. 🤗 Love from Korea! 😍 I hope Korea and India have a closer relationship in the future! 🤗😃

    Some info on Tamil:
Need to know it, to appreciate it !
Tamil is known as the Oldest Spoken Living language - still spoken currently on a daily basis unlike other old languages
Tamils civilisation is also known as "The Lost Living Civilisation" by anthropologist and archeologist alike as their architecture and cultural habits are exactly similar to that of Mohenjedaro & Harappan civilisation (whose people suddenly when missing without a trace).
Tamil is classified as the only "Super Classical" languages as classified by Harvard university since Tamil satisfied all 11 prerequisite condition for classification for classical status unlike the rest.
Some classical language are Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Hebrew & Tamil, Sanskrit, .
N closest was Hebrew & Japanese with 9 I believe (from recollection) n the rest below that.with Sanskrit @4 (no Hindi, Urdu or any other Indian language in the list surprisingly) and Chinese with 7.
In Tamil language the Tamilians coined 20 more words for mathematical numbers beyond 1 billion n y such high crunching do they need it 2000 years ago; unlike now only recently did we incorporate new words such billion, zillion, trillion, quadrillion, tetra zillion n such
So older civilisations were more advanced in maths then itself which we don't quite appreciate.
There are 5 most intelligent languages - Tamil, Japanese, Latin, Hebrew, Chinese if not Arabic
The reason Bcos the language has continuity in those language which is linked to maths, transpiring into the "Logic" realms leading advance civilisation development and so the claim of "intelligent" Language.
    For example, In English the number stops at 10 (discontinuity) n there is a disconnect after 10 (between 11 to 19) the continuity behind only after number 20 onwards (21 23 .. 29 ... 30, 31 ... 50, 51 ... 80 .. 99 , 100, 101..... 111 .... 121 ... 150 to infinity)
So after 10 , 11 shd be read as ten one ten two not eleven or twelve but after 20, 21 is read as twenty one or 33 as thirty three n so on but the disconnect is between ten and nineteen (shd be ten ten (10) to ten nine (19) as per by logic.
Bcos of this shortcomings other languages does not fit into the most intelligent languages as per experts who classified it to be so.
The continuity is what separates these 5 languages from the rest.
There are many more interesting factor - go explore it by visiting India or reading vetted materials on it.
Watch Praveen Mohan post & videos on you RUclips - he is good with explanation n evidences produced during his presentation (discard the Mythological and sensational part but understand rational & logical science part of his video - it will broaden your thoughts and mind on ancient civilisations)
There many wonders too there - temples with chains carved out of granite, fusion of different rocks technology !!, 800-1000 years polished structure still smooth to precision n shining after all these years!! Revolving pillars as in spindle; seven musical note off a single pillar that comes off it on striking different sides of the pillars (delicate hand carving) and many more.
One more pin hole tech used so much so that the shadow of the temple tower's crown's shadow falls upside down instead of upright shadow all built almost 1000 years ago
Also there are many many temples like in maha Balipuram where a circular water tank tub (for bathing) is cut out of rock to a millionth of an inch (circumference of tub) which is machine precision accuracy using only medieval tools
Not forgetting Ellora & Ajanta caves n many more ... I can go on n on .... I was astounded at the craftsmanship and depictions of advanced technology that we use today almost 1500-1000 years ago !!
U need to go over to India to appreciate them - I did n think I should do more if it to learn abt the skills & intelligence of older civilisation throughout the world.

This genre of song is called "Oppari" which is sung during the time of great sorrow. Theme of this song is the grand parents lamenting(singing oppari) for their grand kids because they are inheriting the barren land which is defiled and lays barren because they failed to listen to them. This is just part of the total meaning of the song. It is mostly metaphorical and only some Native Tamilians can understand its true meaning.

Korean - Tamil Language & Clan relationship:
Tamil Language is closely related to Korean language c certain customs and norms are similar too.
To begin one of the 3 tribes of Korea is of Tamil ancestry. Scriptures found are writings from the Pandyan Kingdom era of South India.
There are 3 main tribes in Korea of which the 3rd tribe is believed to be from her roots on the Dark Princess of Pandyan Kingdom ("twin fish" emblem) marring the Korean Prince.
Was This Dark Princess brought me with her a Boulder (Rock) to Korea with her so sche will have something to remind her of her native region (by sea route); which supposedly has a "Twin Fish" emblem inscribe on it & not single fish emblem as that of North Indian kingdom (landlocked n no sea coast) which many Korean still prefer to believe in relation to their fairer complexion.
The Pandyan Kingdom a sea faring state's emblem z on the kingdoms flags as recorded on ancient Tamil & Korean annals too and this kingdom has sea coast and logically a sea trading kingdom unlike the kingdom of the north.
Archaeologist & geologist determine the origin of this Boulder rock is not from Korean region and suggest it to be of same rock composition as found in south Indian rocks formation around the Tamilnadu region.
So once again She is unlikely to be from north Indian kingdom as many Korean believe it to be (the North Indians are fairer than those from south)
But you do have very fair skinned South Indians too if they are of royalty or higher echelon & not exposed to the hot sun (even today) and for this reason one should remember it's mentioned as a Dark Princess (not just Princess) marrying their Korean prince meaning She was not a fair one).
This marriage of convenience is to build friendly relationship between the two kingdom to build healthy relationship through kinship to mitigate misunderstanding n dispute so as to foster better trade between these two kingdom.
The Ayodha on the north is different n not the Princess's kingdom Bcos it had single fish emblem and not twin fish as the Pandyan kingdom.
Korean Dishes (food) are hot and spicy like South Indians unlike North Indian dietary.
Korean hungu language (Princess clan's dialect) grammatical structures of forming words from alphabets are very similar to Tamil.
[ Vowels (uyir meaning life in Tamil) + consonants (Mei meaning dot in Tamil) =
Gives u uyirmei combined letter) ].
Tamil & Korean alphabet structuring and grammatical orders are similar too.
    For example
க் (ek) - Dotted letter (consonant)
    அ (a) - Vowel A
    க்+இ = கி (key) new combined letters
If keep saying ek & e fast continuously after sometimes u vl have the word key (கி)
    In Tamil u have
    12 vowels (6 short and 6 long sounds) + 1 ் (F)
    18 Consonants
    So 12x18 = 216 + ் = 217 letters
Korean Hungo has similar formation of letters
Moreover Korean call their parents as
Amma (mother) & Appa (father) just as in Tamil
    Unlike in North Indian languages
    Mathar (mum ) & Pitha (dad ) in hindi/Sanskrit
Even Japanese archives talk about people from Yo Yoyee clan who are people from the Ayanadu as recorded by the Japanese who settle there too.
The queens name is actually Sempavazhlam (Red-coral in Tamil as in a Tamil name ) on translating from Chinese annals (so it's not a North Indian based sanskrit name).
On using etymology (study of words) in Korean & Tamil language we can deduce again it to be from south India (twin fish of pandyan kingdom) 1) is of Tamil origin the old name was associated to region of AYUNADU (like TAMILNADU now) n name got morphed to Ayodha during recordings and pronunciations (logical & acceptable explanation) by emissaries & pilgrims (from Korea, Japan & China)
The best way is to probably do a DNA analysis !!
    It's clear that the
    1. More Similarity to Tamil words
    2. The etymology of city name morphing
    3. The calling of Dark Princess
    4. Kingdom with Twin Fish emblem
    5. Twin Fish coinage of both Korean & Pandyan kingdom
    6. A Coastal kingdom for trading
    7. Some similarity of Food dishes with south Indian culinary (north is not spicy hot)
    8. Boulder Rock associated to south India
So the above suggests that the Dark Princess Is more of a southerner and most likely from current Tamilnadu region (of Pandyan kingdom)
And That's why there are so many similar sounding words with similar meaning between Tamil and Korean languages (albeit the pronunciation keeps differing slightly as in time all languages with time)

Hi Guys... First of all, thank you so much for your genuine reaction. Also, as an Tamilan, I have my responsibility to explain this song with the exact meaning which is missing in the English subtitles.
“Parai” & “Murasu” (Musical instrument) is played in the beginning of the song.
“Parai” & “Murasu” is purely belongs to Tamil tribes (everyone thinks it's an African music played in the beginning) but it's not, followed by they showed “Salangai” wears in both the legs & hands which is followed by the Tamil tribes to express their feelings by the way of dance. This is mostly during auspicious moment, festival, wartime etc.,. Hope you have seen Salangai” wore in “Bharatnatyam” which is a major form of Indian classical dance that originated in Tamil Nadu. Bharatanatyam is also one of the oldest classical dance traditions in India which is often are used to express Hindu religious stories and devotions.
So all this shown in the beginning of the song to make positive vibes. And then the soil is shaking. That means, the land is shaking/hearing/feeling/enjoying to the music. And the girl opens her hand from hiding and coming out to say what is emerging right now... rest is the song...
Grandpa is called as “Thatha” in Tamil
She is also singing “Cuckoo Cuckoo” hope everyone know it's a bird. But which bird? The answer is given in the next line. “Annakili Annakili” which is a name that has Tamil origin for girl/women and also it's name of the bird as well which is seen widely in Tamil Nadu 50 years back and now no more because of the expansion of development like Cellphone tower, the loss of forests, plains and other natural systems into agriculture, mines, and urban developments, the draining of swamps and other wetlands, and logging reduce potential habitat for many species
Let's move on further, somehow now you got the context of the song but still the subtitles are not the exact meaning represented in English which caused not understanding the deep message.
So the song start with saying Grandpa weeding out the fields and he finds a kingfisher bird in the trunk hole. The frog is swimming in the water. And here lyrics says the caterpillar is sister. How come? 🤷‍♂️ Because frog eats all kinds of worms except caterpillar since it has a toxic body condition. So caterpillar can go and stay near the frog without fear. This is the concept of these lyrics...
Further, the rapper is singing that my grandma’s has shrink bag (wallet) with betel (Paan) and nuts (Supari) which we have seen already in our life. And then he is telling his own lifestory about his grandma which you can refer the subtitles.
Now the girls is saying that our ancestors left this soil with all these blessings. Our forefathers lived across the river banks and did fertile fields. So at that time, every birds and animals felt safe and happy. Our ancestors also fertile the fields across the river and live happily. She also say that the lakes and ponds belong to everyone, not only for humans that includes birds and animals.
During middle of the song, especially, when the male singing part comes, it is consider as the Mother Nature is singing or saying that “I planted fives trees, Nurtured a beautiful garden, My garden is flourishing, Yet my throat remains dry” that means the Mother Nature gave us 5 element. They are Earth, Space, Water, Air and Land, then why are you still struggling to survive in this world? Because we have failed to save and look after nature. That's why people suffer from not being able to live with nature everywhere in the world. Everyone thinks that this guy is enjoying and dancing 🤦🏻‍♂️that's not the actual meaning of the video.
To conclude the song... the Mother Nature is also asking (when male singing part) ... This is a serious statement “What the matter my dear? my sugarcane? my grandson? and then it says “Bitter Gourd in my canopy, it has given us seeds, Left by our mom and dad... (By the time they shows the old man smiling and feeling happy) Everyone thinks that they are Farmers or Someone came without meaning... actually they are all our ancestor, they left the seeds through our mom & dad... so what is meant by “Seeds” (it's a hidden message) the exact meaning of “Seeds” represent the “Current modern lifestyle” who failed to save the mother nature. In result, Air pollution, Water pollution, poor management of waste, global warming, growing water scarcity, preservation and quality of forests, biodiversity loss, and land/soil degradation etc we face today.
Mother Nature is crying and lamenting to express the own grief and also want to share and assuage. Because of this strong message, this album got very popular all over the world.
At the end of the song, they show the group of people which is a root of how humans diversified from our ancestors to till date.
Thank you once again for your valuable time to read this lengthy message to get understand about this song 🙏🏼 ❤️ from Canada

enjaami = en + saami. "en" -> mine and "saami" -> God. The literal meaning of enjaami - "My God". Another take on the word "enjaami" is that it was also used by landless people/slaves to call their landlords with the meaning -> "My Lord". The contextual meaning here in this song is ["my dear" / "my precious" / "my everything"] -> Grandparents affectionately call their grandchildren "enjaami" which reflects how much they love them(equal to a god). Elders also use this term when trying to console/comfort children as an expression of how much they love them.
That different voice that Arivu is singing with in-between is supposed to mimic grandmother's(elders) voice. The lines that were sung using this different voice are meaningful colloquial sayings by rural elders that were passed down from older generations. Another aspect is the way he is singing these lines is using "Oppari" - a traditional form of music that is still sung in funerals for lamenting.
The music instruments used were traditional Tamil music instruments(all the drums) and the drum elements are of Tamil traditional music not of African tribal music as everybody is assuming.
Also the video backdrop with tribal people is supposed to highlight how old the Tamil civilization is. Tamil is one of the oldest classical languages in the world and possibly the oldest civilization with thousands of years of history. Everyone makes tribe elements connections to Africa which is mistaken.

Me as a Tamizhan from Tamilnadu from farmers background, I was literally in tears while watching and listening to this song for the first time... thank you both of you for reacting to it, take care, stay safe and be blessed. This song talks about nature and our ancestors leaving such a beautiful place and what has happened in recent years to those beautiful Lands.. used for farming (Agriculture) and They have used "Oppari" which is a song sang durinh the death of loved ones.. So its like people are mourning to see their Crops getting died... Its really authentic and an eye opener.
Thats also a reason how the song is soo groovy yet it is very sentimental making it a sad song too

The second layer of this song is that it's about Tamils from Southern India who were forcibly shipped off to Sri Lanka by the Brits. They went and worked there on the farms and tea estates, but when they got old, they had no land they could call their own
Many other beautiful symbolisms in the song but that really requires deep understanding of Tamil culture and context. Parai...the drum used right through the song...is played at funerals. The word "Enjaami" can mean a grandma fondly addressing her grandson, but it also was the word used to respectfully address senior officers of the British colonizing force

  • @asathyamurthy2481
    @asathyamurthy2481 Год назад

If you're getting goosebumps you have really understood the song. The gist of the song is that our planet belongs to every creature--caterpillar to the cat---and we're enjoying what our ancestors have left to us and that we have a duty to preserve nature and pass on its bounty to posterity. We human beings must come together as one to enjoy ourselves with what mother earth offers us. It's like our grandparents are addressing us to continue to do their good work and enjoy ourselves. The appeal is universal, not at all sectarian that is confined to Tamils.

    Meaning of Oppari:
Oppari is an ancient form of lamenting in Tamil culture performed (cry singing) by a group of women emotionally when someone lost their loved ones, in which this ancient practice is still exists in Tamilnadu and other states of south India...
    Formation of Oppari:
A group of women form a circle holding each other's shoulder and facing each other and cry singing in a funeral spot..
    Content of Oppari:
The group of women cry singing the Oppari about the person who passed away, mentioning how good he lived his life in the past, his love towards the family members, his likings, his sacrifice to the family members, his happiness and sorrow, how much the family members loves him too, Praising him for what he did for the nature, everything..
    Why Oppari?
Oppari cry singing is not only a way of conveying messages to the public related to the deceased person in a funeral ceremony, but also a scientific way of releasing the stress of the person suffering from the loss of their loved ones. i.e. Psychologically helps to deal with emotions ..
“I PLANTED FIVE TREES, NURTURED A BEAUTIFUL GARDEN, MY GARDEN IS FLOURISHING BUT YET MY THROAT REMAINS DRY” IS A LAMENTING PHRASE USED IN OPPARI SONG USUALLY PERFORMED IN A FUNERAL PLACE IN TAMIL CULTURE.

Basically this song told us that human live with Nature, Animals, Plants etc. Preserve the Natural Resources, Protect the Mother Nature, Environment, and Ecosystem. Our Ancestors preserve and protect these all important things for us. But in todays greedy, careless, selfish human continuously destroying all important things on Earth. Actually human destroying their future by destroying the Earth. That's not the real humanity. Always remember that human don't live without Mother Nature, human don't exist without this beautiful, wonderful planet. Mother Nature and Earth don't need us but we always dependent on Earth, Nature and Natural Resources, Ecosystem. Without Earth and Mother Nature we are nothing.....

This song has got deeper meaning & innuendos that goes beyond just the lyrical meaning (translation or trans-diction)
U got connected with whole conceptualisation of the video - the singing, musical composition, the vocalist, rendition, instrumentation, cinematography and beautiful lyrics - which captivates us, while conveying a simple yet powerful message for our eternity (which many younger generation forgets and get caught in consumerism) :-
TOGETHERNESS in DIVERSITY with RESPECT for RIGHTS of ALL Creatures-Creation Plant & Animal to LIVE in HARMONY with US all without exhausting Mother Nature & SHE will HEAL and SHIELD us ALL if ONLY we ALLOW Mother Nature to do HER works at her PACE.
The language is Tamil (S.Indian - where is Chennai is based) and just as ARR & u both stating it's just the start n eventually the culmination of other languages will follow from diff global artist & background to make it global - good effort & foresight
Arivu attempts to sing in his grandmothers voice !!
Dhee is the singer of the famous "Rowdy Baby" song hitting in more than 1 billion viewer count in just RUclips alone (not counting other social media platforms)
Cuckoo - is the Cooing sound of the Cuckoo bird calling out (sounds - cuckoo cuckoo) & so the bird was named cuckoo bird.in English
Just as this song is calling out to all to come together and live together in harmony as a family by respecting every creature's rights & belonging to be so and also sacrifices made by our elders to ensure the world's sustainability as we are all interdependent and should not exhaust our resources thru our irresponsible acts pushing us towards excessive consumerism directed by egoistic & greedy political leaders & biz entities covering people being displaced for all the bad reason as war, slavery, conflict and the likes n they making livelihood away from as refugees or otherwise due to discrimination.
There's more to it if you go deeper ... it's about displacement of people for economic reasons, discrimination at all levels, disparity & disproportionate distribution of wealth as seen by certain biz Corp & political people but very the farmers who puts the food on ur plate is left behind struggling & scraping to make a living n let's come together as one to change and correct the ills sowed n directed by the many few (max 100-500) over the many (6 billion).
Let's hv compassion to spread compassion thru unity with diversity over divisibility
Enjaami is colloquially pronounced, with a village slang
But it's actually EN Sammy (My Dear, My Beloved, My lord) and such is a
Tamil endearment term usually used by elders to address their children or loved ones; esp the grandparents call their grandkids as such.
Oodiya ... is actually Oodi Va (come running)
to me or here (as we beckon come quickly to me) in Tamil language (which is marginally related & spoken in Central African countries too)
Vaango Vaango = Come over, Come over (is sing with a Sri Lankan Tamil slang/twang) instead of Vaanga Vasnga (actual Tamil)
Did u identify the young singer holding the hand of the elder to give support they would carry on with their elder's endeavour the custom of respect & sacrifice for the benefit of one and all including various creature's sustainability let alone survival of humankind in making this world a better place to live in.
Modern Living with Older Generation's Traditional Values as one Earthly Family -
So let's follow thru the path our ancestors fostered -,living in peace & harmony with Mother Nature
