Arivu changed his voice tone in between, it is called "oppari " in tamilnadu, they use it to express their sadness when someone dies . Oppari is a jounre. In this he is using it to express the sadness of our ancestors who feel disappointed about the exploitation of natural resources which they were giving us as a legacy for many many thousands of years. I am from chennai , tamilnadu 🙂.

The second layer of this song is that it's about Tamils who were forcibly shipped off to Sri Lanka by the Brits. They went and worked there on the farms and tea estates, but when they got old, they had no land they could call their own
Many other beautiful symbolisms in the song but that really requires deep understanding of Tamil culture and context. Parai...the drum used right through the song...is played at funerals. The word "Enjaami" can mean a grandma fondly addressing her grandson, but it also was the word used to respectfully address senior officers of the British colonizing force
