you can only talk about the almost perfect crimes. the perfect ones you'll never know
Exactly.
i actually thought it was pretty sloppy... but it was the early 90's. no way a plot like this could be even conceivable today.

Why would the universe allow this?
It wouldn't, someone else tending to perfection in teams of forensics will out-perfect the "perfect" murder, hence this documentary.
I can’t get over that this guy was only charged with murder and no mention of incest and kidnapping his 15 year old daughter!!!!!
Yeah definitely strange
Why? Is it so necessary to put it on record and destory those innocent kids's lives forever? I don't understand everyone's obsession with that part of the story. They make it fairly obvious what happened. It is also obvious that they are trying to protect the children. So get over it.
And how did he steal 75million?
I know. It's second-hand news to them.
@@evangelene12 the incest/kidnapping/pedophilia seems downplayed. As it has been for far too long. Mentioning it AT ALL would’ve been honorable and refreshing.
I was taught to give people “the benefit of the doubt”, but as I’ve gotten older and hopefully wiser, I don’t follow that rule. If your gut tells you something doesn’t seem right, go with it and question the situation!
bad advise-you will continue to reflect on how you misjudged many in your later years. humans are very complex creatures, and not everything is what it appears to be
I second this. If you give people the benefit, you will have all the doubt. Trust your instincts and your gut!

A serious amount of people get away with it. Think of all the missing people that are never found, they could be murdered, then there are so many people never even reported missing.

What stands out about this case is the fact that he only got caught due to a series of unusual chance events. By chance they found that body etc. Almost like some higher force decided he belongs in jail. This case should make people aware of such cunning and very evil people. Keep your eyes open.
Yes ! The random chance the body was pulled up, the random chance he had taken the watch for a repair, the random chance the officer spoke to the neighbors, the random chance someone had seen the boat, the random chance the anchor never sold and was still able to be recovered.

The religious thread is BS - never trust anyone who tells you you have to give your soul to Jesus.
@@susansage1876 The real truth is that you love your wicked sins! Unless you repent; you will perish.
Romans 1:18-32
God's Wrath on Unrighteousness
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[a] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.

Honestly, I studied forensics to become a forensic pathologist (before I truly realized how long medical school would take) and the way I thought about it was “I really want to help families understand how their loved one was taken from them”. Now, I might go into either veterinary or mortuary school because that desire to help people is still there, whether that’s thru helping animals or helping the grieving process. I don’t think it’s weird at all to be interested in ‘morbid’ topics simply because the world needs people to be passionate about those things. Forensics, medical, & mortuary science wouldn’t exist without people who pushed boundaries!!

Did anyone even tried to charge him for his incestuous relationship with his daughter which started when she was only 15? Based on how his daughter acted around him, she looked like she might have been forced by him to submit to a relationship she knew was wrong.
I agree. Seems like she was forced to submit to him and follow his rules. She had to carry his babies, and be a part of this crime and deception for many years. Disgusting behavior.

Prior to carrying forms of ID, one of the most common ways of identifying a body was by the watch. Pocket watches were the more common type carried and were often serviced and marked inside with a service number. Watches from the early 1900s and 1800s are often covered with these numbers. Law enforcement would check with local jewlers to see if they could match them.

He f her 🤢🤮
RIP Ron Platt. After watching this, i now do not believe in coincidence. This must be a divine intervention to solve the murder.
Yes
Some divine intervention
the more you open your eyes to the chance that it could be so, the more you'll be seeing these 'coincidences' pile up all around you. Good luck!
Just because something or a series of highly unlikely events occur doesn't mean divine intervention is involved. Think about how unlikely it is to win the big prizes in the lottery, tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions to one but it happens regularly. That's the problem with religion, people want to believe that god is responsible for something happening so they convince themselves of it.
@@splint3048 it was the rolex watch that solved the crime.
Where was your God when this guy was raping his daughter? Where was God when the victim needed to be saved? Where is God when millions of children are starving to death? There is no God. It's a mythical "being" that doesn't exist.
Being offered a job by a total stranger and tickets to Canada sounds too good to be true.
Love that detective's voice..he is so matter of fact and so soft spoken..Grat detective.Actually, the other detective was soft spoken, too.
