Sir with all respect bcs if u know abouth Grk Postup Plavac i think you underatand wery well every sort of wine in Croatia even Babic Teran but cmon sir you cant awoid 1 Korlat Benkovac we have this syrah of 13 percent alkohol and Cabernet Savignon we take all the price in France so this is French vine in Croatia amayzing realy we have 750000 vineyard of this you have to try this sir cheers😂
This was like a short masterclass on Croatian grape varieties. Definitely going to scour the internet to find me some importers who have Grk and Babic. I think so far I only ever had a couple of grasevina from Kutjevo and they were lovely.
Great video and advertising for beautiful Croatia. I particularly like the Plavac Mali and Dingac wines a lot. Great stuff when well made. Not exactly inexpensive either. But the quality...wow! I liked the fact that you didn't forget the continental region of (Eastern)Slavonia and their Grasevina wines. Your disription was to the point. Bravo Matthew.
I don't think I've ever had a Croatian wine but now I fell I have to try Grk! Both because of the awesome name (only grape variety without any vowel?) and your description of it.
Great video as always Matt! Personally, I‘m a big fan of Giorgio Clai wines. Waiting impatiently for the Brombonero 2018 release. Hope I can get a few bottles;).But sadly Giorgio retired now.
Hey Matthew, this is an awesome introduction to Croatian wines! It must have been a crazy hard job to choose just a couple of grapes and producers for this but you did a really great job. This is probably one of the top 10 video that you ever produced (at least in my opinion). Of course all stuff is great and you are getting better with every video but this one blew my mind off ;) I know I might be biased 'cause I know the subject very well but neverthless ;) Keep up producing great content my friend!
Just got back from a month long vacation in the motherland. Always amazing. And of course drank a ton of wine. Have you tried the Stina opol? Had it for the first time. It might be the greatest rose' I have ever tried.
Nice job. I like to drink croatian wines, when are on holidays there. We travel there every year, and my most favourite are Malvazia Istarska from Fakin and Kabola winery. Pošip from Čara and Skaramuča, and we also like light wine frok island Krk named Vrbnička Žlahtina, which is really good for hot summer. Hope you sometimes try some wines from Slovakia. Cheers
@@drmatthewhorkey Oh. I forgot that you were here and tasted the wines of my favorite winemakers (Bott Frigyes, Kasnyik, Matyas, MarvlaTindo etc.). Thank you. :-D
@@drmatthewhorkey Few people talk about it (coz i believe they dont export much?) so I was wondering if it was just me liking them. Was it because of the holiday mood (i was drinking at the winery at Hvar) or was the wine that good? Thanks for your comment! (there are not few comments on Vivino but i wish to hear it from a pro lol)
Not my experience. I was there 7 years ago and we tried a lot of different reds, from 2 buck chuck to 100 dollar plus bottles. We found ALL of them to have this sour chemical aftertaste.
Grate Vido please do not speak of hystory cuz it a bit insulting to hear, it was in Venetian emore ( never existed) it was republic and they ruled Croatian parts not that was part of Venetian or Habsburg...cuz Croatia was Kingdom inside of Austrian empire. Hope your book is better written than this about Croatia.

I’ll put Croatia on my bucket list.
Cool and enjoy!
Definitely. And while you are in the area, hop over to Slovenia as well!

Ahhhh thanks. Yes, Croatian wines are not exactly cheap thanks to a number of factors.
Watching this while visiting Croatia and Slovenia. Some of the best wines I’ve ever had, and I’m from NorCal.
Enjoy the wonderful wines in both countries :)
Yes but Usa also have graeat wines in Califilornia Croatia Spain Portugal Greece and just part of Italy

Great job! Grk, Grk and more Grk :)
Yesssahhh Grk, Grk, Grk!
Yes, I love Croatian Vine. Thanks for this great video. ❤🍷
Thank you, what’s your favorite???
My favorite red grape is plavac Mali and Grk for white wines.
So many nice varieties 😊👍

Niceee! Well Giorgio has been more and more hands off for several years and I’m sure things will continue to go well
Pošip, Graševina and Plavac Mali are my top 3
Not bad not bad!
I love austrian welshreisling, a shop near me has some enjingi, ill definitely try it! Great video
Ahhhhh nice!!! Funny thing is I am judging in a Graševina/Welschriesling competition in June…
Great video Matt! Can't wait to go back this summer and check out the new vintages!

Yes have been there several times... you can see their estate on one of my VLOGs about the island of Brač. Glad you enjoyed!

Stevo, yes I agree! Žlahtina can be awesome! I love it fresh and also matured.
Blessings from nz Hawkes Bay wine country ♡

@@drmatthewhorkey what's your hero grape / blend for H B? Syrah or Cab merlot or?
My favorite indigenous Croatian red wine, not mention here, is Dobricic. Of all the whites, Vugava is my #1
Ahh that is geeky as there are only a handful of producers bottling Dobričič in pure form. Vugava can also be stellar
@@drmatthewhorkey My Choice is Bell Iakov Dobricic and Vugava Lipanovic
Anyone knows about Dubokovic? what do you think about them?
Very good wines, I have several in my cellar

hard to find these wines...which wine would you choose out of these recommendations? i hate wasting and evening with average wine lol
Croatian wines are difficult to find outside the USA, I think Croatian Premium Wines has the best selection stateside
sadly one of wine producers from Kutjevo in Slavonija , Branko Mihalj passed away last week
Yes, I just saw that... I like how held back his Graševina in the cellar a bit before releasing it
@@drmatthewhorkey i'm sure his family will keep up that tradition
