I find that wine enthusiasts will have more disappointments with "expensive" wines not living up to expectations compared to "inexpensive" wines overperforming their price level. When you come across those wines, you feel like Indiana Jones finding some treasure.
Never done a tasting like that - and I think I never will - but I see the value in that. You clearly love Sangiovese, and you are showing that we, as consumers, shouldn't be afraid of going outside of Chianti Classico and Montalcino to get good Sangiovese. Thanks a lot.
thank you, just getting further into Sangiovese recently after an extended Aus grenache rabbit hole, so this is perfect timing. Notice you're a watch guy
I just had two expensive for me (150 & 200)bottles for New Year’s Eve and thought both of them were fine but not even close to worth the money. The bummer was waiting to share something with family that you thought would be special.
I love those videos. You could make a thousand of them! Almost bought this wine from Bibi Graetz a while ago but I thought it was too expensive, it also has a high score from Suckling if I remember well. Just Wow!
Great video Matt. I love Sangiovese and this past couple of years I have found some great value as you prove here. I completely agree that when you have the confidence to know what you like, regardless of what others think, then your wine journey will be a far happier one. By the way, please don't change your style of reviews because of folk that have short attention spans. Social media is becoming more and more about tiny sound bites and dumbing down in the process.
❤ Grazie. Wonderful. Any thoughts on how I can acquire the top five so I can try these with my wine buddies. I live in Central Florida and can’t find them online either.
Nice tasting. Very instructional that price often times does not really matter. I wish you had slipped in a couple wines from the same producer with wide price points. The one that comes to mind that I have not seen in my local shops for a long while is Bibi Graetz’ Casamatta. For the pice it is incredible.
I saw that one. I have long been a fan of Rosso di Montalcino, and Nebbiolo vs. Barolo. To my mind, like in France, it really comes down to a producer’s style that you like. Great producers produce great wine!
Sangiovese can be pretty stunning, for little money, kind of like tempranillo in Spain, or Cotes Du Rhone in France. Do a similar tasting for Spanish wines of a region, so many great ones there.
really delectable tasting. I always buy the wines you rate 93 plus so im looking forward to the ones in this video. I just hope they are available in the usa.Maybe in the future you will do the same thing with the nebbiolo grape.(my favorite)
Great video and blind tasting. Question for you. What time are the live “hangouts” at and typically what days? I have a pretty wonky schedule for work. Thanks.
There's a few bottles in the $150 range that I'll splurge on, but higher than that is not worth it for me. I've tasted some great wines over $1K, and while they are usually excellent, there are some below $100 that I like just as much
I always feel like there's a dip in quality above $30 until about $80 where the prices are completely not reflective of quality. $15-30? Great. $80+? Amazing. For some reason in between? Unbalanced, hot, flat, one-note...
The framing of these videos with the bottles in paper bags taking 70% of the screen can make people uncomfortable. Love your content, btw! So definitely saying it as a fan.
Suggestion - don't talk about things you're doing in the video so that you keep viewers. Nothing more annoying than youtubers talking about youtube. I'm here to watch you talk about wine, not talk about how many views you want to get or things like that.

100% I’m drinking Franciscan Estate Cabernet Sauvignon right now (CA wine) that I picked up at Total Wine for $20 and it tastes like double the $
Hahahaah I love that last line
Or like a prized fishing hole that you want to keep to yourself.

Why not do it yourself? You could go lower with the prices of the wines and invite some interested friends.
@AnarchoKapital I live in the Brazilian countryside, and I don't know anyone who would be up for that.
You are so right about Sangio

I am indeed
I just had two expensive for me (150 & 200)bottles for New Year’s Eve and thought both of them were fine but not even close to worth the money. The bummer was waiting to share something with family that you thought would be special.
What were they?

He is well renowned producer!
100% agree about the Podere Forte wine. They have a more modern / riper style but I’ve found their wines to be excellent.
They are indeed
Nice job keeping it simple and real. 👍
And as always: Enjoy the sunlight held together by water🍷
🙏🙏🙏
great video. love the rapid pace
🙏🙏

That is perculier indeed as attention spans get shorter and shorter
I love that bellamarsilia, I buy it often. Great value
Niceee!!! Good wine indeed.
I’ve had the Testamatta once before and completely agree. Solid bottle, but I’d like a bit more for the price.
It is a good wine but blind tasting reveals a lot!

Wine-Searcher is your best friend when searching out these wines!
Awesome test. Plus I’d love to be invited to the party of getting to drink the rest of the bottles. Cheers! - Cam

You would like the video I did on Brunello vs Rosso di Montalcino I did from the same producer...

Lot’s of Spanish wine videos on the channel!
Gotta taste, taste, taste and trust your own palate - solid rant.

🙏🙏🙏 There are a lot of Nebbiolo blind tasting videos on the channel

about to start in a few mins... Third Sunday of every month is the goal to have them.
Its tough to rate a wine that is made to age, vs some really good Chianti that drinks soo well young. 😁
Agreed!
I find that over $100 there is not a lot more bang for the buck. In general, u get what you pay for , but its fun to find hidden gem value wines .
agreed. though there's some REALLY worth the money.

Must do Fredericksburg, Texas ...its so good wine

Interesting take…

So where are they supposed to go?
Lol. Not that one. Cannot understand it's appeal.
??? The wine?
@@drmatthewhorkey haha - yes the Testamatta. Not a fan at that price. Have you tried the white?

Remember that for a lot of us RUclipsrs, this is our livelihood
@@drmatthewhorkey I understand, but if you go to a restaurant and your waiter is complaining about their job, does that set a good environment?
Hey Matt can you please do a Trump red wine review?
That would be whine.
What do you mean?@@garyamartin
If you like it, just drink it
