What I found with my Ruger American in 308. Barrel wasn’t really free floated plus the rifle plus scope weighed 6.5 lbs ? I added 5 lbs BB’s embedeed in solt silicone in the forend and stock butt for a total of 11 lbs ! I also reamed out the barrel channel so it is now free floated ! I added two popsicle stick ends, now 2 deep to support the tang ! NowSubMOA groups all day long ! Very easy modifications taking about 1 hr and that rifle is now a delight at the range ! Low recoil and very accurate and consistent ! I shoot federal 168 grain serrea match king bullets which are very consistent and 165 hornaday sst to hunt with ! I can easily remove the BB’s for hunting deer !

It really works ! I used soft silicone to secure the BB’s in the forend because I didn’t know if I would like the extra weight, but I love it !! The left forend of Ruger Americans stock often touches the barrel ?? I just added the BB’s then sqirted the silicone in those chambers ! I was really surprised by how much the soft silicone firms up the forend ??? After the silicone sets up its easy to remove some plastic from the barrel channel to free float the barrel ! The popsicle sticks really help the rocking back and forth of the barreled action ! If you don’t like the result they are easy to remove but I suspect you will be happy with how accurate these rifles really are !! Sub MOA all day !

I spoke with a fellow hunter that was shooting 4 inch groups out of his Ruger American !!! After making these easy to do modifications he Now gets routinely 0.6 up to 1.0 inch groups !!!!! That transforms a Boat Anchor into a superior Hunting Rifle !!! We need to help each other when we can and I suspect you will be very happy with your results ! Cheers !

11 lbs deer rifle......that is definitely a box blind gun, not a mountain rifle.

@@easttexan2933 very true 👍 but if it's super accurate and I practice tons I can smoke a deer anywhere within 400 yd.

Very good accuracy test of the Ruger American in 270. I've never owned a Ruger American but may give it another look.

as we say here in Texas, all you're doing is pissin into the wind. None of these 4 videos produced any real good groups. All over the place.

I like to measure overall length of factory ammo ?then shoot and you'll find your flyers are usually a few thou different? Reloading allows you to control that and experiment what bullet jump your rifle likes ?instead of hopeing a factory and machines get the tolerances right?
