The title is misleading. This is not a Tesla cell but a breakthrough innovation from BYD. After Panasonic, Tesla turned to CATL and now BYD. Batteries are very complicated. Hence why Tesla has never developed own cell. Just buying the knowhow from Japanese and Chinese.
No doubt Tesla is the first company that recently inspired and impressed most people in the world and put the electric car into mass production. Since the electric car mechanical design is much simpler as compared to the combustion engine, so if in near future the electric car can be designed in such a way that the car body unit, driver unit, and battery unit separately, each and individual unit or platform and can be upgraded and sold separately, it's not just lowered the cost but also recycle the parts or materials. Tesla doesn’t have anything to do with the development of the Blade battery. They *might use it in a Model 2 car. All I know is that I want my first EV to use Blade batteries - cheaper, safer, and will easily outlast the car. The same can’t be said of Teslas batteries.

The form factor is interesting. Lifepo batteries are known for high cycle capabilities and safety. BYD may have improved safety even further however the energy density I believe is still quite a bit lower than the Tesla 4680 so I don’t see anything here that would support the title of the video.
4680 is a form factor, not chemistry. Tesla uses NCA "aluminum" batteries for high-performance "Long-range" models, in the future using the 4680 form factor. The LFP "iron" tech is now in the prismatic or the BYD blade form. It would be possible to make LFP batteries also in 4680 format, but even with the Tesla structural battery form, the battery would have less capacity from the same volume compared to a prismatic or blade battery.
All I know is that my first electric vehicle should be less expensive, safer, and have a blade battery. All of these reasons are becoming a reality as China becomes more inventive.

BYD is over state it's battery performance. This is very common in China to mix the terms like NEDC miles and EPA miles. The channel "The Limiting Factor" give the details why BYD is lying on the performance.
But why build it as part of the Car Chassis, Just one Cell / Blade, and of to the tip. Just doesn't make sense to do it that way. Especially with all my resources that are used to build the battery in the first place. Defeats the purpose if you ask me.

Tesla motors are supposed to go a million miles. 3000 cycles on a 250-300 mile pack will go a loooong ways.

Whether with aerogel or new formations of carbon (Bucky-balls?) we will have batteries in the future that weigh 1/10th of the ones today, so that a truck's 3,000 lb. battery will be 300 lb.s. This is essential to have an economically realistic electric vehicle fleet. But can/should we wait???

Wowwwwww ... batteries cost less than $60 per Kwh? We bought 48v lifepo4 5kwh pack from many different companies for home backup or off grid cost minimum $1500 usd or higher price with bms ready to use or 1300 DIY (EVE 230 Amp + Bms ) That still over $200 per kwh
BYD is over state it's battery performance. This is very common in China to mix the terms like NEDC miles and EPA miles. The channel "The Limiting Factor" give the details why BYD is lying on the performance.
But why build it as part of the Car Chassis, Just one Cell / Blade, and of to the tip. Just doesn't make sense to do it that way. Especially with all my resources that are used to build the battery in the first place. Defeats the purpose if you ask me.
