Thanks brother and agreed! Pay $100 for exhaust to be way louder, crackle and pop loud as heck vs paying $500-1500 for exhaust that isn’t as loud if not the same. Sounds like an easy choice haha
Question on the pricing a muffler shop tried to charge me $500 for a loud exhaust this was like 4 months ago I’m in Cali I don’t know how much charge me to delete those 3 things suggestion?
$500 isn’t insanely too much if it’s a very reputable shop. $120 for the cat deletes, $70 for the muffler and $70 for the resonator is usually what you’d be looking at. Id shop around and check other prices before jumping on that
Technically the cats cost about $300 at least in raw material... each. Removing a cat takes about 2 mins and welding a cheap steel pipe takes about 10 mins max and the pipe itself should be about $10. Sorry...
Just picked up an e92 328xi 6 speed and I’m dying to do some exhaust lol my only concern with the strait up deletes is drone. Do you have a lot of drone while driving on the highway?
At certain higher RPMs, it has some drone. Nothing vibrates or shakes though, so to me it was worth it. The exhaust doesn't drone anywhere as bad as let's say an Inline-4 Honda etc. With my music playing I can't hear any drone and overall there's not much. I've been in some cars where it's terrible. I'd say for the price point and the aftersound it was hell worth a bit of drone it produces, just my opinion though! 🤙🏽
Jordan Theodore thanks brother! I love mine!Reliability wise it's been good honestly. BMWs have very key weakpoints like any other car, they just have a bad rep on reliability mostly due to shops and dealerships being able to upcharge on maintenance. If you can DIY then they're great! I would recommend a 328i to anybody! Makes good power to get you going smoothly, handles phenomenally and super reliable compared to the horror-story 335s with the Turbos. Mine is at 163,000 miles now and it runs like day one! If you'd like you can always shoot me a message on my IG @izzysakran. I know these cars inside and out and can recommend and give you feedback on any models you've been looking at. 🤙🏽
Jordan Theodore just make sure you purchase from the right owner who has service records, make sure there's no oil or coolant leaks. No weird suspension play and you can get yourself a heck of a deal ✅
Have the resonator or and muffler cut but not fully removed just so you can sample how it will sound. After that if you like it, let them fully complete the job. If you like how that sounds, removing the secondary cats will make the car just about 20-30% louder just have waaaaay more pops!
i ended up doing this on my n51 e92 and eventually got a p0175 code which means my engine is running to rich which is because of the cause of me taking my cat / muff/ res off if you want to be loud and safe i would reccomend doing the muffler delete buy a performance resignator then take the secondary off so there’s still some sort of air filter your car will trip out if there’s completely none the car isn’t made to run like that and yes it does effect performance doing the way he did there’s more of a lag on the gas peddle when i out all of it back on car felt way more responsive
Sorry for the late response! It should sound around the same, maybe not the exact time but high flow cats should definitely add some time. Honestly for the secondary cats considering they don't have an O2 sensor on them, it's not even worth buying some tbh
You can sell the cats, muffler and resonator and easily make back from $200-500 on Facebook Marketplace or anybody who buys those components. I actually made money off of my exhaust setup
I definitely don’t get headaches but with the sound system off, the cabin is definitely not quite haha. For me it was worth the trade, especially because I always listen to music but you may feel differently!
I’m glad brother! Honestly the best thing I could say is call around a few shops for a price quote. Just give them the specific car model you have and they should be able to give you a cute. Look at their rating in Google and watch them do the whole job. Stand close by them to make sure they don’t do any spotty work 👍🏽
Why year is your e92? I’m thinking about getting a 2012 with 40k miles but it doesn’t have this bumper 😂 but I’m interested if they sell yours aftermarket
Am Thinking Doing The Same On My Car I Got The Same Cars Was Yours Stock When You Did Your Muffler N Resonator Secondary Cat Delete ? Does It Pops N Crackles Stock ?.
I went with 3.5 inch dual tips and used high temp paint and acrylic gloss black paint to paint the tips black! If you want to go the best route I recommended you take it somewhere to get another pipe welded on do you’ll have actual Dual Exhaust like the 335. You will need a new bumper though
If you’re just looking for new tips only and keeping your bumper/exhaust layout I would recommend some 3 inch dual tips and 3.5 dual tips. Just make sure they are the right size to be welded on to the OEM exhaust
It won't sound quite the same because either 2014 has a different engine, it's the Turbocharged Inline 4. I believe there are plenty of videos out there tho!
Nope! It doesn't. This car has 4 cats. The primary catalytic converters have O2 sensors after them, so removing these will trigger a check engine light. The secondary cats, muffler and resonator do not, so they don't trigger any codes!

Thank you I appreciate it! I didn’t get headers though, just a muffler, resonator and secondary cat delete! Crackles and pops insanely on the highway and doesn’t throw any codes!
Not sure if you will respond, but i'm looking into buying a E90 328i (2009-2011). Since you own a 328i, are these cars affordable to maintain? I can DIY everything, but i don't want this car to be a financial headache especially being a college student that might have to pay for student loans. I will appreciate an answer. Thanks.
They are actually very affordable to maintain. As long as you keep on top of everything and change the oil, coolant, transmission fluid, differential fluids etc then they will really last. Most of the stuff out there has DIY videos so if you can get some tools and get your hands a little dirty, you will be fine. I HIGHLY don’t recommend a 335 tho. They are turbocharged and can be a huge headache. The 328 is a bulletproof drivetrain if kept up with
@@IzzyE9X Thank's for the reply! i've been researching this exact model, and i'm just looking for backup to see if it's true of it's reliability. Ofc i will avoid the 335i, they are a financial headache. I also have a Honda Civic as a backup car, so i'm pretty set on this purchase next year.
Oh yes, they are! Coolant hoses, oil gaskets will really be the most common things wrong with these cars. Very cheap to do if you can DIY though and will never have to be replaced again. As long as you use BMW blue coolant, frequent fluid changes, you will be set!
IzzyE9X thanks man, how about legally tho just checked it out saying any modifications is practically illegal, u do it anywyas or is the chance of being pulled over close to never
Kahzy every state has different laws, deleting your secondary cats, muffler and resonator is not illegal and will not get you pulled over anywhere. If you remove your primary cats you could maybe not pass inspection, but I just did secondary
Definitely agreed, worth every cent. Selling the old cats were pretty straight forwards and easy, just hopped on FB MARKET and searched "catalytic converter". Tons of adds will come up, just shoot everybody a text until you find the highest bidder!
I wouldn't touch the primary catalytic converters, just remove the secondary. 1. It'll sound raspy, unless the current setup I'm reviewing which sounds deeper. 2. It'll make the car slower on low end power. Inline 6 needs as much backflow as it can get, you removing backflow from the system will make it slower on the low end
Hey I love your video. I have a e92 328i and I already deleted the muffler and the resonator. I’m planning on doing the secondary cat delete but I’m kinda worried I might not pass the emission test. I wanna know how yours went.
Snazzy Ju glad I could help brotha! And I would recommend big time, just make sure you keep the muffler so you can resale it after instead of letting the shop take it 💯
Sail Whyzee with my sound system on I can’t really hear it, but it is definitely loud. It’s not terrible, but you can hear the exhaust consistently while driving. It doesn’t vibrate or anything like that though
Its not the most reliable car, if reliability is your biggest thing, I suggest an sedan economy car (Boring cars) . But if want to smile and have fun with a decently reliable car? The 328i is a deal, especially the 2011 one with the sports package I got as my first car. I wanted the more powerful 335i but its not a smart choice in terms of reliability because of the cost of replacing turbos down the line is too expensive. if your still looking for cars I say go for it.
As he said up above, the E90 and E92 328i are very fun cars, huge aftermarket, comfy and sporty, have a timeless design and can be modified to be fun handling quick cars. Huge bang for your buck and honestly very reliable if you keep up with preventative maintenance. 335i can be huge powerhouses and very fast but with all of the 335 issues plus regular BMW/Car issues, it will turn into a headache long term
Hashim Mir you can actually! It’ll probably sound even better because diesels are very throaty sounding systems. I think there’s some video out there of straight piped diesels. The only thing I will say is depending where you live, inspection standards are different so they may or may not flag it on inspections
Thanks for responding bro and yeah I think might have some issues with inspection because I live in Uk haha but I’ll definitely give it a try and I’ll send you a video on how it turned out thanks again.
You’re welcome brotha! Can’t wait to hear how it sounds, definitely keep me posted. I’ll be dropping a couple more exhaust videos soon to show my setup from underneath the car
Thank you! Yep, deleted the secondary cars, resonator and muffler! Definitely doesn’t sound raspy at all, I was worried about the same thing before I did mine but love the outcome! If you delete the primary cats, it will sound raspy and throw O2 sensor codes so I only did the secondary
Headers don't make the car rasp.. it's the removal of the res that does. There's frequencies that the OEM/aftermarket vibrant resonators cancel out. Headers allow exhaust gases to flow more freely, giving you a nice bump in HP.
The CEL O2 codes can be cancelled our with an aftermarket tune which you'll need to take full advantage of the headers. Then you remove your secondaries, leave your res and get either a stock muffler with the insides removed or a race muffler.
Roy A 100% agreed! What I was referring to was without a tune, if one were to just do the delete on the cheap side and do an entire deletion of everything. With a tune you can definitely go through and code out the O2 sensor codes or even just get aftermarket O2 spacers to prevent it from throwing. If one were wanting to do this completely on the cheaper side, without a tune, I feel like this would be the best setup without codes. Thank you for clarifying for everyone else on that, much appreciated!
Nice video bro! this inspired me to mod my exhuast on my 2011 328xi coupe e92.. just debating if I just do muffler and resonator or go all out and cut the secondary cats off as well... going to the local exhaust shop this week to get it done... hows the drone on the car ?
The drone isn’t unbearable, but without music on the cabin can get kinda loud highway speeds. Definitely worth it! The secondary cats made it sound more unrestricted and pop alottttt more
Louie Pioquinto I definitely do on the highway. My sound system blocks it out though, but without the sound system playing it drones. For the price I still think it is 100% worth it. Most aftermarket exhausts drone so to pay $100 for my loud setup that drones is better than spending $1000 on exhaust that drones but just a bit less 💯
On the 328 reliability is pretty great. Normal car things: Oil Leaks, Coolant Leaks, Coils/Spark Plugs, Starter, stuff like that. On the 335: a lot more variables: Index Fuel Injectors, Turbochargers, Boost Issues, Fuel Pumps and etc. if you can DIY or have money in the bank, 335 is great! If you want a fun reliable daily driver, 328 all the way.
Nice bro I like how it sounds. Right now my f30 328i is stock and I was thinking about getting a magnaflow muffler but then I just was like I’ma get a muffler delete maybe instead. I plan on getting a catless downpipe so I feel like that with a muff + res delete would be too loud
The money spent on aftermarket mufflers is hardly ever worth it unless you get a FULL system. I see no point in spending $200 for a muffler to be just a tad bit louder (might sound high pitched) when a full straight piped system costs that much. If you're looking to keep it on the quiet side, maybe justifiable but I think you're into the right route man!
@@IzzyE9X appreciate it. I was just stuck between just a muffler delete or a muffler and resonator delete. I like to hear the pops and burbles and I know it’s going to be probably about 1-2 months before I get my tune with adjustable burbles and downpipe so I was thinking of is it worth it getting both now so I can hear the car or just get muffler delete and wait
@@STONERTELEVISION369 I'd delete both. If you delete the resonator, it'll pop way more than with it installed. It'll also be significantly louder and sound overall more free-flowing. That being said it won't be quiet by any means but I think you'd enjoy it
@@IzzyE9X - How exactly do you define “maintenance?” What exactly do you do to keep the car going and how often do you do it? I’m currently considering buying a 328i coupe and I need advice.
On the highway you can definitely hear the exhaust and the cabin is for sure louder but it doesn't vibrate or anything like that. My sound system usually blocks it out
ItsUro as in the engine shaking due to the exhaust? I didn’t. The car actually idles super smooth! I have the secondary cats removed, still have the primarys
Hey man, really cool to know this. Just Got myself a manual 328i convertible and naturally the thought of modifications come to mind. My question is will the car pass a smog check without the to cats the next time it needs one?
Yep it’ll pass! It’s only the secondary cats removed not the primary ones. The primary ones have a O2 sensor with them which will throw a code. The way I did it, you will be safe!
IzzyE9X I messaged him back and he said “One I don’t do cut and weld pipes. It would be 304 stainless steel and tig welded. This isn’t a meineke muffler shop I do custom fabrication. To the people you talk to most likly get there work done in someone’s driveway. No disrespect but do not come” Funny because I didn’t ask for special tig world, etc.. Simple muffler delete smh... Oh well
Edward McMahon wow man that sucks. Some people can’t get off their high horse. Being great at something means not just taking pride in your best work, but being able to accommodate simple jobs too. Hope you find someone!
Definitely, I could’ve gotten $80 a piece but everyone in my area I texted was playing games or not responding, so I just hopped on the $50 a piece price
Speedy-coupe thank you, I appreciate your support! The E92 is easily the easiest/best chassis to mod up. It's a timeless design and looks aggressive and modern! Most people mistake mine for a 2012-14 car
What spark plug change on a BMW engine cost $100? I spent $250 on plugs and coils and did it myself. Nonetheless it’s nice to see another E9X N52 with muffler work done. I got the same set up except I didn’t do a secondary cat delete. I’m getting catless headers and a BPC tune. I would recommend keeping the secondary cats just in case. OEM secondary cats are at least $600
Haha, I more meant you could just use that money towards something better haha. My NGK plugs were about $9 a piece, so it ended up being somewhere around $60 and I DIY'd it. That $100 could be used on alot better stuff 👍🏼 oh yeah man, OEM cats are pricey to buy! For my state and considering I won't throw any codes, I decided to sell them and not be missed. Texas is pretty lenient on emissions. Nice man! You should definetly upload a video or contact me after the headers and tune for a follow up!
Damn bro I got the same car same color but yours looks fire I notice you put some work on it best wish for ya and that super unique car mine gonna look fire too !🔥🙏👑❤️☀️
Thanks brother! Just performance plugs, carbon filter delete (free mod improves peds feel), and I just stay on top of all of my maintainance/fluids. I was debating doing the 3 Stage Manifold next, it'd put my up in horsepower drastically

is it louder in person ?
It is, it also crackles and pops a ton in person!
Since you sold the cats (and I'm assuming the resonator too), how do you pass emissions with that setup and nothing to reinstall?
I just had a straight pipe welded on and in Texas they don’t care much in regards to emissions and inspection tbh
Doing all of that doesn’t trigger check engine lights?
Nope! It doesn't. This car has 4 cats. The primary catalytic converters have O2 sensors after them, so removing these will trigger a check engine light. The secondary cats, muffler and resonator do not, so they don't trigger any codes!

If you need any help on anything, my IG is @izzy.e9x. Feel free to ask for advice and keep me up to date on which car you pick!
@@IzzyE9X I will!
Where’d you get the rear bumper?
Ikon Motorsports but I don’t think they sale the bumper anymore because it’s out of stock. If you’re ever in Texas, I’m asking mine though!
where do i get this done
You can get it done at any exhaust shop!
Sounds wicked! Especially considering the price you paid for it was next to nothing. Was selling the old cats pretty easy overall?
Definitely agreed, worth every cent. Selling the old cats were pretty straight forwards and easy, just hopped on FB MARKET and searched "catalytic converter". Tons of adds will come up, just shoot everybody a text until you find the highest bidder!
Cool, I'll be doing this mod very soon then. What do you think of a primary cat delete also?
I wouldn't touch the primary catalytic converters, just remove the secondary. 1. It'll sound raspy, unless the current setup I'm reviewing which sounds deeper. 2. It'll make the car slower on low end power. Inline 6 needs as much backflow as it can get, you removing backflow from the system will make it slower on the low end
I didn’t think about that, thanks for the info
Where did you get your rear m bumper ?
Ikon Motorsports! If you’re ever in the Dallas area I’m selling mine though
Hey I love your video. I have a e92 328i and I already deleted the muffler and the resonator. I’m planning on doing the secondary cat delete but I’m kinda worried I might not pass the emission test. I wanna know how yours went.
Thank you! I pass emissions with zero issues since it’s only the secondary cats. Sounds way better too!
@@IzzyE9X You’ve deleted your muffler, resonator and secondary cats right? And you still passed emissions?
@@IzzyE9X so you think if I delete my secondary cats I will still pass emissions?
Late reply, but yes you should still pass. Just depends on what state you're in
your awesome for including the exhuast tips in the description im finna do a muffler delete
Snazzy Ju glad I could help brotha! And I would recommend big time, just make sure you keep the muffler so you can resale it after instead of letting the shop take it 💯
How bad is the droning?
Sail Whyzee with my sound system on I can’t really hear it, but it is definitely loud. It’s not terrible, but you can hear the exhaust consistently while driving. It doesn’t vibrate or anything like that though
Does the check engine came on?
Nope!
Is it a reliable car? Should i buy one as my first car?
Can I do the same thing for the diesel? (E92 325D)
I’ll be dropping a couple more exhaust videos soon to show my setup from underneath the car
love how yours sounds man, so remove what you listed and it can sound like that ? just wanna avoid it being raspy :)
👍
Hey bud just wondering would it pass smog with secondary cats deleted
Depends on the state! Here in Texas I’ve never had them say anything since it’s the secondary cats ✔️
How does it do with emissions ?
No issues! The secondary cats don’t have O2 sensors
Do you recommend this on my 2012 328i?
It’ll sound like mine does brotha
IzzyE9X is this illegal In Cali 😩🤣
IzzyE9X I really want to do this but will it affect my car In a near future?
Sounds pretty dope man, any drone? I got the same car I wana do what you did so long as it's drone free.
Wheel and tire size? Thanks
Staggered Niche Targa M129s and they are 18s
255/35/18 with 15MM spacers in the rear, 225/40/18 in the front with 20MM spacers.
i have a 2009 bmw 328i would that work
WalksInAsh yes it would! The 2009 328 has the same engine and exhaust setup, so you could do the same thing to yours! 👍🏽
The secondary cats made it sound more unrestricted and pop alottttt more
Do you get any drone noise?
Louie Pioquinto I definitely do on the highway. My sound system blocks it out though, but without the sound system playing it drones. For the price I still think it is 100% worth it. Most aftermarket exhausts drone so to pay $100 for my loud setup that drones is better than spending $1000 on exhaust that drones but just a bit less 💯
Can i put an xpipe on a 2011 e92 328i?
Yep, you could but it won’t make anything louder unless you do other exhaust work 👍🏽
Hows the reliability?
That being said it won't be quiet by any means but I think you'd enjoy it
@@IzzyE9X bet bro appreciate it
Good tips for someone who wants that sweet exhaust note!
Aoshi Gaming thank you! It’s super cheap too!
I did a muffler delete and sounds amazing
Hey man how reliable has your 328 been?
Been very reliable actually! I just do all preventative fluids and maintenance and it treats me well!
@@IzzyE9X - How exactly do you define “maintenance?” What exactly do you do to keep the car going and how often do you do it? I’m currently considering buying a 328i coupe and I need advice.
Will it wake up the neighbors ?😈😂
When I cold start, it definitely wakes people up I'll say that much!
What size pipe did you put 2 inch or 3 inch ?
I wanna say it was a 3 inch
what year is your car ?
2007!
What’s the pipe size?
If I remember properly they're 2.5 inch pipes and dual 3.5 tips on the outlets
Love the video fam! 328 sounds good
Thank you brother!
Does it drone much or at all?
On the highway you can definitely hear the exhaust and the cabin is for sure louder but it doesn't vibrate or anything like that. My sound system usually blocks it out
Did u ever get engine shake?
ItsUro as in the engine shaking due to the exhaust? I didn’t. The car actually idles super smooth! I have the secondary cats removed, still have the primarys
I would do it but it voids the warranty 🤦🏼♂️
Sadly, it does 😪
What part of Texas u from

IzzyE9X ahhhh ok bet!!! I’m down in houston
Texas>every other state! 💯
I just realized this is right by my house lmaooo

Roy A in my opinion, favorite BMW models/chassis ever built. So customizable and way easier to DIY!
What rims and what size? Love your setup.

Niche Targa M129s!
@@IzzyE9X Thank you for an instantaneous reply brother!!!
You’re welcome brotha! Always happy to help!
Also are you in Cali? If so can you recommend anyone to do the work for me, Thanks in advance!
I’m actually not from Cali, so I wouldn’t know. Keep the muffler, resonated and cats after they are cut off! They resale for good prices in Cali
Passes smog?
Carlos Morales Hernandez depends on your state, in Texas it should. If not there are people that do inspections and pass you for like $50 lol
You dead ass live in my old apartments in Lewisville lol
Small world!
Some exhaust welding guy tried charging me $500+ for just a simple muffler delete...
Edward McMahon F*** no, that is ridiculous, $100 tops
IzzyE9X I messaged him back and he said “One I don’t do cut and weld pipes. It would be 304 stainless steel and tig welded. This isn’t a meineke muffler shop I do custom fabrication. To the people you talk to most likly get there work done in someone’s driveway. No disrespect but do not come”
Funny because I didn’t ask for special tig world, etc.. Simple muffler delete smh... Oh well
Edward McMahon wow man that sucks. Some people can’t get off their high horse. Being great at something means not just taking pride in your best work, but being able to accommodate simple jobs too. Hope you find someone!
He got you each cat is worth no less then $80 each
Definitely, I could’ve gotten $80 a piece but everyone in my area I texted was playing games or not responding, so I just hopped on the $50 a piece price
good content I'm building a e92 completely stocked too
Speedy-coupe thank you, I appreciate your support! The E92 is easily the easiest/best chassis to mod up. It's a timeless design and looks aggressive and modern! Most people mistake mine for a 2012-14 car
IzzyE9X definitely keep it bro💯
Did you get the headers and tune? If so did you notice any power difference? Also did you do the 3 stage intake manifold mod?
would appreciate a follow up for the rest of the viewers whenever you have time!
i took of resonator, muffler, both secondary cats and gutted the primary cats thing is crazy loud and deep tone
Radicalx33 glad to hear that! Sounds great 💯
Damn bro I got the same car same color but yours looks fire I notice you put some work on it best wish for ya and that super unique car mine gonna look fire too !🔥🙏👑❤️☀️
That’s for the kind words, such a nice color! Best of luck on your car 💯
I sold my secondary cats for 650
What is your ig?
@izzy.e9x
So it’s a muffler delete, resonator delete, and secondary cat delete, and then a straight pipe
So I have the secondary cats, muffler and resonator replaced with a straight pipe instead. Louder, better fuel economy and cheap!
@@IzzyE9X will it pass smog?
How come this doesnt pop as much as other 328i’s that have the same setup?
That's a great question brotha! Haha
You should’ve reved it instead of pulling off🤣🤣🤣
In this video I do that: ruclips.net/video/wC0UEZ9w0B0/видео.html
Nice video man! Do you have any other performance mods done too?
Thanks brother! Just performance plugs, carbon filter delete (free mod improves peds feel), and I just stay on top of all of my maintainance/fluids. I was debating doing the 3 Stage Manifold next, it'd put my up in horsepower drastically
