    Hate it when cars are destroyed simply because the owner fails to take care of them. A lot of brands are seen as unreliable- this is simply because those people actually cannot take care of them!

      @@raptunoc787 Exactly, just because Jeep has a history of having indestructible cars in the mid 20th century doesn't mean they're indestructible. A lot of owners think that and even with Chrysler's questionable reliability, you can still keep them running perfect with proper maintenance and being taken cared after.

      Or can but choose not to....lack of priority.....$2000 rims and tires but wondering why it doesn’t run. People are more concerned about looks than function and not just vehicles but a lot of areas in life.......
      Perfect Example.....put power lines near trees and then wonder why the power is out for two days when the wind blows a tree into the line or the downed line starts a brush fire. You get the idea!!

      it was said, "you can't kill them." i guess i can. and everything else? oil red no black yellow fluid frozen that's not antifreeze! it's coffee backwatter!

      I've had a lot of good luck with inline sixes over the years (Ford 300, Chevrolet 250, Chrysler 225 slant, and International Harvester "Black Diamond"). Simple to work on, and ran forever. Probably why they quit making them- they weren't making anything on repairs, and not selling enough new vehicles to suit them. 🙄

    That 4.0L I6 is a beast, has enough torque to chirp the tires from a dead stop and it can easily get to 200k miles with just simple tune ups. That engine can take some abuse, because mine overheated numerous times due to a bad radiator and a worn out water pump. And when it overheats it shuts itself down and when you restart it it sounds like a train because it runs on like 3 cylinders, it can be driven for like half a mile like that at the most.

    The same thing happened to my dad's Jeep Grand Cherokee with the inline 6. That noise that engine is making is rod knock. :D It developed at about the same mileage as the Jeep in this video too. From what I was told, there was casting problem at the factory with a certain run of these engines, and no matter how well you took care of the engine, it'd eventually develop rod knock.

    I hate to be that guy, but most of the comments I see on this video are "poor Jeep", or "how could the previous owner treat the Jeep like that??". While on the video of the 2003 Nissan Altima, which had the same issue mind you, everyone is ranting and raving that Nissan sucks. It just doesn't make sense to me.

      thelonelyfry you must not like Ford then, either. My point is and has been, that I have taken care of my 2003 Altima and I have had it for 12 years. Not once have I had an issue with it, aside from faulty parts from autoparts stores.

      It gives the fuel pump multiple opportunities to build pressure when the battery is weak. Pumping the gas pedal is the oddball maneuver.

    I had a 1999 Grand Prix GT and I had it for 8 years before I traded it in for my 2007 Jeep Liberty. It had 210,000 miles on it and it still ran and it would start right up even on the coldest days in Ohio. I took care of it by keeping it maintained and regular oil changes. Someone one bought my old Pontiac at an auction and it's still running to this day (I seen it a couple of times). The moral to this story is maintaining your car and regular oil changes.

    Most likely wasn't mistreated.
    0331 head probably cracked and overheated. Owner probably replaced cooling components not knowing any better and additional overheats resulted in spun bearings. That's what happened to me.
    When this happens people usually assume their thermostat or water pump failed and replace it. When they started driving it again it seems fine and then, BOOM... the mother of all overheats. Usually the rod bearing get destroyed before the owner realizes their jeep is equipped with the defective casting series head. The water jackets crack on between cylinders 3 and 4 near the exhaust port and the engine starts boiling it's own antifreeze

    • @WildWhiteFang
      @WildWhiteFang 10 лет назад

      Not trying to be rude but im not a fan of diesel's in regular vechiles you have to drive, in big 18 wheelers I can understand and maybe the H1 Hummer, but that might be part of your problem. Ive never liked diesel engines, they cause to much problems.

    • @proff128
      @proff128 10 лет назад

      WildWhiteFang I have a toyota Hilux that is a diesel and its the most reliable car I have every had. the jeep , the parts are costing alot , the filters are great and clog up fast. The new parts don't last. the Jeep when running its fine but the body is weak and the engine uses poor quality metals

    • @WildWhiteFang
      @WildWhiteFang 10 лет назад

      Huh might have something to do with the deisel engine in the Jeep, both your Jeep and Toyota have different diesel motors dont they? Its either that, or then the Libertys must be the rotten apples of the Jeep brand. My GC is fine the only thing i need is an ABS motor pump, and a rear main seal.

  • @SaGalv
    @SaGalv 12 лет назад

    Yeah oil pressure around 80 psi means span or worn out rod or main bearings (probably both) becuase the metal gets ethier moved infront of or ground into the oil passage ways and blocks off oil flow, thats way once and engine spins a bearing or grinds down a bearing to where the metal melts over the oil hole, not matter how much oil is added to the motor it will still grind up that bad bearing and ultimately throw a rod out the block or lock up...

    either way the parts are costing 10 times what they cost in the US. Timing belts here are $395 + 4 x head valves + 4 x rocker arms + Head gasket+Head Bolts = $10750 and then there is Labour on top

    @autodude6 Check engine lights usually only come on when ECM detects an anomalous reading from one of the engine sensors, due to it either failing or detecting a problem. If all the sensors are fine and not detecting anything unusual, then the light won't come on.
    Then again, judging by how bad the engine is vibrating, the ECM should at least be throwing a code for a misfire. But if it doesn't have knock sensors it might not know the difference.

    This car was not maintained properly. On the engine head, there is a tube that is cut off. it is the rocker arm lubrication tube and without it, the oil will not lube the bearings in the head and will leak out. One of the rods are snapped and you most likely have a hole on the side of your engine. The engine is toast, you should swap it for an SCB v8 powerstroke turbo engine.
