I like the look of light bars personally. They can be useful on dark back roads, which there are no shortage of here in Ohio. But, even if you are not going to use them, so what, it's your jeep, you can do whatever you want to it. If someone has something to say, they can pay your jeep payments and pay for all the mods themselves.

If it we're not for you and your generous purchases to upgrade the look of your rig, all the folks that fancy themselves as hardcore off-roaders would not be enjoying the economic benefits of ECONOMY OF SCALE...We all are better off when Tens of thousands of Mall Crawlers drive the cost down and drive the markets to provide a variety of products with which we can choose between a $10 pod light or $1200 light bar. Cheers from South Central Pennsylvania!

In non-dusty environments I'm sure they are fine. I had a light bar on my 66 Bronco back in the 80's and turned it on once. I lit up the trail dust so bad I couldn't see past the hood. Took them off the very next day. I can only imagine in snow conditions overhead light bars have a similar effect. Now almost 40 years later (wholly crap) I am finally getting back to wheeling and have a JLU, and am looking at various lighting options. I'm curious to read others' serious comments/insight to light bars before going that direction as there are some nice ones out there that thrown down some serious illumination for a clear dark night condition. I'm thinking a combination of front driving lights, A-Pillar lights, and an overhead light bar all supplementing each other is the way to go. If you can only choose one, I'd go with front mounted driving lights since they won't blind you in dusty conditions.

Even though my (wj) is primarily for trail riding and is trailered most of the time, it is however insured and registered just in case I need it to be on public road ways. (My wj IS NOT a mall crawler). With that being said, I have light bars all over this weekend trail basher. I have found myself in the past, down in a holler at some far away off-road park at night with just headlights. So I started adding light bars and l.e.d. flood lights. In all I have 3 forward facing light bars, (in various sizes) and eight 4 inch by 4 inch flood lights attached to the cargo rack placed in specific spots where I can see clearly in 360 degrees (if needed). I know the importance of high powered lights on the trail. I use mine for safety of myself, my riders, and others that might be on the trails at night. I don't however think that light bars should be used on public roads. OFF ROAD USE ONLY.......

Use ditch lights, pods in my bumper, and rock lights that's plenty good for night wheeling. I think having smaller more compact lights for night wheeling is ideal. Now if you were out west in wide open areas and traveling at speed I could see them being more useful. Personal preference is all it is for most.

That said, I’ve never used my lockers and never used my winch ( though have used snatch strap and shovel ). Heading to middle of nowhere before sunrise and staying at location after sunset, I do a ton of driving in the dark. It would be almost impossible without my light bars. I’ve even photographed wildlife at night using them.

Never owned a Jeep before. I know this video is a few years old now but i just bought a 2012 jk sport unlimited 4dr RHD. Im a USPS rual route carrier in the middle of Oklahoma & it gets dark out there during the winter seasons. Need to see them address. Plus if i ever get stuck when it's dark im going to want to light up that situation as much as possible. So, a mall crawler my rig won't be. Great information on this video. Thank you👍

How reliable are this light bars vs spot lights? If one spot light brokes i just have to replace one, if one of the leds in the light bar brokes i have to replace the entire bar.

I work the oilfields and drive all different shifts and weather and I am telling you that they are life savers! The 100s of miles of dirt roads that are unnamed and not maintained I drive each week are difficult to maneuver in daylight! In the dark there’s no reflector poles and none of the intersections are marked and you can’t even see your corner or turn even though you know it’s coming! They are as important to my crews as headlights!

My stock Rubicon had a light bar installed when I bought it. I don't like it for the noise and glare off my white hood and plan to take it off. But.... one thing I do like is using it when stationary to light a campsite or work area.

So my 2017 Wrangler JK came with a lightbar. It hummed/whistled. So I got that Aerolidz clear plastic cover. It doesn’t hum/whistle anymore however now the light is diffused……… any help out there? Do KC Hilites hum or whistle?

Pointless for because I put my windshield down a lot and put a pad on mine and set mine and my buddy’s bows on it when we hunt. 👍🏻

I would like to know where you got your antenna and mount that you have on your driver's side. Is that a 2 meter antenna ?? Also, where did you get you cube lights on you hood ??
As far as light bars go, I bought my JK with one installed and love it. I'm and working my way into overlanding and having that extra light out on the middle of nowhere is very handy !!! My lightbar doesn't make the noise that everyone talks about.... 🤔

New Jeep owner here less then a year....I have been on the fence about a light bar for for a little while now and I have to say it’s a hard pass from me and here’s why...The noise, the look, am I really going to use this?.. the first mods I wanted to do were lighting because I don’t like the stock lights. But after doing my research I’m going to go with two KCs maybe. If you are hunting these would actually be very useful for you on trucks. With my upgraded headlights that should be enough light for me. Plus my mods that I want to do are actually going to be useful to me and my needs. Next is a step bar cause being 5’3 trying to get into a lifted Jeep every day is tough Lol. Thanks for the video. I love your channel.

Anytime you put metal on top of metal you promote moisture. I like the pillar covers you got because they have foam preinstalled. I wonder if you could put some thick double sided tape on the panels that don't have the foam preinstalled. It helps with scratches, like you said, but I wonder if you could use it to create a little air gap to mitigate moisture buildup. To anyone running something like this, are you seeing any moisture?

Thanks for this! Been wondering about those light covers and inserts. I think it'll look great with the lights on under the American Flag insert!

I like my light bars I got a 20" going across the hood aimed up for a going through tunnels are at night shining up dizzy up hills and I got my 52" across the windshield and I love having the option of having the extra light lot of people complain about the whistle I don't have a problem with that

So... if you're looking at a used JK, and it already has one of these monstrosities on it, how bad is the windshield frame and hinge going to be if you try to remove it?

They are definitely plenty of pros and cons to this. Living in Kentucky the trails are covered in limbs and brush plus with the usually muddy trails I am known for bouncing off of a few trees 😂

You have added lighting facing forward, what about side, 45* and rearward facing lighting?
I had a great laugh at the 'noise' as I have greater noise in my Jeep that you can't have a conversation at highway speed.

Hi from Australia. Jeeps are not so common here but, the jeep's I see out on the trails and tracks are usually, very modified, 2-3 inch lifted suspension, bar work(front steel bulbar with winch, brush guard's/rock slider's/side steps and a steel rear bar with two spare tires or a spare and a fuel can) So cool looking, LED lightbar's are legal here but not above the height of the hood, so, not mounted of roof rack or above the wind shield. A friend in need sold me his mint condition 3.7 petrol 2003 Jeep Cherokee limited for a very small amount of money. Please, don't hate on me for owning a diesel powered HZJ 75 series Toyota Landcruiser already. I had no idea what I was going to do with it. The fellow living a few houses down from me asked me why I had it when I already have the HZJ. I explained. He said his daughter was looking for a vehicle. so... I offered it to him for the same money I paid for it. He nearly fainted when I told him the price. In American money, $2,500. The new owner of the Jeep has made some changes. Better suspension, all terrain tires, transmission oil cooler, and so on. The Jeep gets used off road often. Thank you for posting this.

In the old days we ran 4 or 5 inch aircraft landing lights, my eyes couldn't focus that far down the road, but you have to do 30 mph or more or they would overheat. Big draw, so heavy wire and relay. Great video.

IMHO, I like them on y rig. I have small spots under bumper in front (switched) and small floods in the back (under bumper) for aux back ups. (wired into back ups with a relay. Both sets are for visibility. Future plans for a roof mount light bar, but other things first. Just added 31"s on my mostly stock 95 Cherokee Sport. Now it's getting a 3" lift. As always, great content and thumbs up!

I don't have one my YJ,I do have a curved one on my 05 silverado.i use it for cutting grass in the late evening,it lights up the whole pasture which I stripe.they have multiple uses.mine is noisey.ive tried everything to get it to be less noisey.they don't make curved lense covers.another down fall to a light bar is limbs and other things(buzzard) can hit them and bend the brackets

I have a 21” light bar on my hood with 2 led cubes on each end of windshield. Also have a 16” led light bar on rear bumper. Use them off road and when on a dark road with no other cars because the jk headlights are horrible. Also have a 9” bar on front bumper.

I almost have the same design layout with light bars like you got, that's strange lol.. I got one on my hood, with 2 cube LEDs, 2 cube LEDs by my winch, and 2 inside my rear solid metal bumper(got a solid mode and flicker mode(use that in case of tailgating)). All are from ZuesLighting.
