I have only 3 mods on my 14 rubicon, winchplate, 10k X2O gen2 winch, and a 24" lightbar right above the fairlead. the lightbar is only tool for night wheeling, it has a multi color row of leds witch comes in handy for fog (orange), white out snow (yellow).

I like the look of light bars personally. They can be useful on dark back roads, which there are no shortage of here in Ohio. But, even if you are not going to use them, so what, it's your jeep, you can do whatever you want to it. If someone has something to say, they can pay your jeep payments and pay for all the mods themselves.

New Jeep owner here less then a year....I have been on the fence about a light bar for for a little while now and I have to say it’s a hard pass from me and here’s why...The noise, the look, am I really going to use this?.. the first mods I wanted to do were lighting because I don’t like the stock lights. But after doing my research I’m going to go with two KCs maybe. If you are hunting these would actually be very useful for you on trucks. With my upgraded headlights that should be enough light for me. Plus my mods that I want to do are actually going to be useful to me and my needs. Next is a step bar cause being 5’3 trying to get into a lifted Jeep every day is tough Lol. Thanks for the video. I love your channel.

I’m not a Jeep owner, I have a ranger, and for me personally I love my light bar. I don’t have a whole lot of mods other than KO2s and some quality of life stuff. Just because I haven’t gotten that far yet. But I do use my truck to go trailing occasionally, and camping where flipping a switch a lighting up a campground/ trail has come in handy. I guess it just depends on your lifestyle. People would probably look at my truck and not think much of it. Just some lights, tires and raptor liner paint job thus far. But it is my truck, I pay for it, I love it, ima do what I want to it.

Here in Massachusetts, I don't think you can even use a light bar legally. You can install one but can't have them actually on while driving on public roads.
Usually, the people I see with these are the same who have a snorkel; painted fenders & roof (you do you, but I think it's pointless if you plan to actually offroad in my opinion), color changing halo/ring headlight's, mud tires (like general grabbers just because the cool color letter print).
Though, they live in an area that gets hit hard with snowstorm during the winter season (thus just filling those wide treads with packed snow), usually the guys/girls who buy a Rubi right off the lot, just because (you have the money go for it I guess, especially seeing that most of the time they are buying off the looks rather than what it has).

Use ditch lights, pods in my bumper, and rock lights that's plenty good for night wheeling. I think having smaller more compact lights for night wheeling is ideal. Now if you were out west in wide open areas and traveling at speed I could see them being more useful. Personal preference is all it is for most.

Even though my (wj) is primarily for trail riding and is trailered most of the time, it is however insured and registered just in case I need it to be on public road ways. (My wj IS NOT a mall crawler). With that being said, I have light bars all over this weekend trail basher. I have found myself in the past, down in a holler at some far away off-road park at night with just headlights. So I started adding light bars and l.e.d. flood lights. In all I have 3 forward facing light bars, (in various sizes) and eight 4 inch by 4 inch flood lights attached to the cargo rack placed in specific spots where I can see clearly in 360 degrees (if needed). I know the importance of high powered lights on the trail. I use mine for safety of myself, my riders, and others that might be on the trails at night. I don't however think that light bars should be used on public roads. OFF ROAD USE ONLY.......

I love mine. Let me start by saying I’m not a rock crawler or a mudder. I’m a nature and wildlife photographer who uses Jeep to get from here to there... which often is not great terrain. That said, I’ve never used my lockers and never used my winch ( though have used snatch strap and shovel ). Heading to middle of nowhere before sunrise and staying at location after sunset, I do a ton of driving in the dark. It would be almost impossible without my light bars. I’ve even photographed wildlife at night using them.

In non-dusty environments I'm sure they are fine. I had a light bar on my 66 Bronco back in the 80's and turned it on once. I lit up the trail dust so bad I couldn't see past the hood. Took them off the very next day. I can only imagine in snow conditions overhead light bars have a similar effect. Now almost 40 years later (wholly crap) I am finally getting back to wheeling and have a JLU, and am looking at various lighting options. I'm curious to read others' serious comments/insight to light bars before going that direction as there are some nice ones out there that thrown down some serious illumination for a clear dark night condition. I'm thinking a combination of front driving lights, A-Pillar lights, and an overhead light bar all supplementing each other is the way to go. If you can only choose one, I'd go with front mounted driving lights since they won't blind you in dusty conditions.

Check out my video I did on “why people hate Lightbars”
Before you make a final decision. I would look at a good set of amber lights. I will be installing some on my jeeps in a month or so.

I don't have a light bar since I don't off-road at night, but I wouldn't judge anyone who has a light at, whether for off-road or just for looks.

I confess, some time ago I moved my pod lights from the windshield down to the bumper because I didn't like the glare on the hood. Still haven't wired them up.

Not a fan of light bars as you rarely if ever use it and the added wind noise and whistling makes it a no go , the whole mall crawler term is beyond ignorant as most Jeeps never go offroad and most don't have the time or trails near them , factor in work family etc and trails fall way down the list

I love my rigid e2 hyper sport bar. I actually do a lot of night wheeling. And like to play in the hay Pastures at night. It sounds like a damn jet engine when going down the road. It’s a must to have those rubber “silencers” that goes on the fins of the back of the bar.

I went on a group ride with a new group. The trails were wicked tough, several got stuck, several had to be winched out, one even flipped. It rained like hell, all the muddy wheel ruts were filling with water and turning to slime, but we made it to the end and some pics were posted on FB. Despite being among the few who never pulled cable and never got stuck, some internet badasses who couldn't be bothered to make it out saw my Jeep in a few of the pics and asked "who's the noob in the mall crawler?". That's why I don't give a flyin f$%k what people think of my lightbar.

I live in BFE Oklahoma i dont have street lights on the back roads, i damn near made mutton a few times this past year because the stock lights suck. So yes i own a light bar and yes it gets used on the dark ass back roads.

we do have cowl lights on the JK but i have not yet found the need for anything on our JL with the LED option, im feeling cowl lights would be what id lean towards again, and i have thought possibly some front bumper cubes. oh wait, i forgot about my lights that JCR put in my sliders, not a light bar but kinda mall crawlish right??

It isnt that i dont like them, i just have a classic Jeep, a Grand Wagoneer, and light bars on a older truck like this dont look right at all. Id rather have the 4 6.5 inch round lights on the roof and the 2 on the brush guard i have. Ive seen these Jeeps with light bars and it just looks wrong. Only downside to the classic light is they are Halogen, so they use alot of power 600watts for the 6 i have. I could upgrade to 120w bulbs too for more brightness, but honestly after using them and testing out in dark areas the 100w are just fine. Had to upgrade my alternator from the factory 74amp to 150a. And yes i know they make round classic looking but leds.. but again the LED lenses just look weird.. i like the smooth shiney lense of a classic light. As for price my lights were only $14 each, so i spent only 84$ for them, i did the wiring myself using my own wire, those premade harnesses you can buy are usually too small of a guage wire cheaply made, ive seen pics of them causing fires.. its better to unspool wire and do it yourself.
Also light bars will lower gas mileage, my round lights lowered my mileage on the interstate by 1-2mpg. Meaning i went from 13 to 11.. For me already getting bad mileage that means on a 20 gal tank i lost 50 miles of driving, for a Jeep that gets better mileage than me like a wrangler that can get 20mpg... That 18% reduction could mean 3.6mpg, for a say 20 gal tank thats 72 miles less.. thats starting to become really noticable.
Now the only LEDS i do have on the Jeep would be interior lights of course so i can actually see in my Jeep lol, and for outside i did install two led/flood pods on the rear of the roof rack so i can have a basically 360 view of my Jeep if i wanted. But hey i drive a Wagoneer, my opinion doesnt matter to wrangler owners, because youre all snobs anyway lol

I love lights period. Lights on a Jeep are awesome! Think of your Jeep as your outfit. Your shoes and socks are your wheels and tires. And your lights are your jewelry. It’s the Bing! Having light is awesome. And you never know when you need it, till you need it! It’s allows you to express yourself though your Jeep, an opportunity to be original. And buying lights helps fund the industry. Which anytime you can help the people who share the same passion is you, is an awesome thing! I say who dies with the most lights wins!
Who cares if it’s a mall crawler, what’s wrong with malls? I’ve picked up a lot of hot chicks at the mall back in the day.

I like the bar on my TJ and I assure you it's not mall certified. I added some additional "rock lights" under the Jeep, two additional "pod" lights on the front for up close illumination and one on the back. Im happy, I like how it looks and I can see! (Mall crawler smoothly worn tires--NOT mall crawler, cuts and chunks missing.)

I don't mind light bars. I think they're very purposeful. I hate what people do with them. Driving down the street with it on. Small penis syndrome. I don't care where you drive your jeep, mall, highway, trail etc. Follow traffic laws, offroad use only. Stop blinding other people driving
