- Although Sheikh Jarrah makes up just a tiny part of Occupied East Jerusalem, the area is a major source of tension between Palestinians and Israelis.
A recent order to evict Palestinian families has triggered days of violent protests.
On Friday, more than 200 people were injured when security forces stormed the nearby Al Aqsa mosque compound to clear demonstrators.
So why is the Sheikh Jarrah dispute so contentious?

The illegal Palestinian residents were offered compensation in the form of alternative houses, and the possibility was also offered to rent the land / houses from the Jewish owners. This has been refused under pressure from the PA because they then recognize the (proven !!!!) Jewish property right. The logic then wants to be turned off. These Palestinians are victims of the PA, not Israel.

Hey Al Jazeera, can we choose a more correct term than 'evicted'? Evicted implies a tenant couldn't make rent or failed to meet the landlord's expectation so thus has to be kicked out. That's NOT the case here. Palestinians are the homeowners and are being forcibly dispossessed of their own home and land by Israeli settlers.
