Around minute 2:35 that is some fine masterful wicked playing and sound; Jimi would be and or is very proud and smiling. Jr. Brown and Jimi Hendrix would have had a great time trading licks & riffs; perhaps would have made a collaboration album. That would have been nothing short of white/blue hot!
WTF!! Only 516 likes!! This man is a guitar genius!!! I had the wonderful opportunity to see his genius 4 years ago and walked away just stunned at his talent!! I look forward to seeing him again when I get the chance and so should YOU!!!
Sid13 and 17 thumbs down? I’ve never understood the thumbs down? Just don’t watch if you don’t like. People are ass hats now. No one cares if you don’t like self centered dbags. Junior is definitely the shit my friend!
Discovering Junior was unbelievable. I do not know a single guitarist who can play like this guy. Doesn't have to wear a bucket on his head either, just a Hat.
frightening, breathtaking how Good this man is.....this is how people first hearing Mozart Play must have Listened in stunned rapt silence, as THE Man of their day played on....just like Junior Brown does today for us.
Declare57 I saw Bill Kirchen last week, who told me Jr’s guitsteel was stolen from a van recently. Keep an eye out for it, it’s a unique instrument to say the least! That’s all the news I have on Jr. Brown.
Saw Junior at Daryl's House couple weeks ago - absolutely KILLER show !!!! He did not do any Hendrix but did perform the surf medley. BTW - his new album is sort lame compared to any of his previous albums. Amazing talent hope to see him again.
There seems to be quite a bit of confusion over this song's title so... From Wikipedia : "Jimi Hendrix occasionally used different names and spellings for some of his songs. In his handwritten lyrics, he used "Voodoo Chile" for the longer song, while he used both "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" for the following one recorded with the Experience. In his handwritten album notes for Electric Ladyland sent to his record company, he listed the songs as "Voodoo Chile" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)"; when the album was released in the US by Reprise Records on October 16, 1968, these spellings for the two songs were used. When the album was subsequently released by Track Records in the UK, the songs were listed as "Voodoo Chile" and "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)". In 1970, the "(Slight Return)" song was released as a single in the UK and it was simply titled "Voodoo Chile", without the further designation. Later album reissues usually follow the Reprise or Track album spellings, depending on the country of origin." This song is indeed based on Catfish Blues, hence it's similar chord structure.
Read Grzz51's post. He is almost right ... I have the album, the original recording of Electric Ladyland on vinyl. From Wikipedia ..."Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" is a song recorded by the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1968 that appears as the final track on the Electric Ladyland album released that year. It contains improvised guitar and a vocal from Jimi Hendrix, backed by Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums. The song is one of Hendrix's best known; it was a feature of his concert performances throughout his career and several live renditions were recorded and released on later albums."
Wow, real musical talent! Nary a single performer on ANY of those alleged talent shows is worthy of any notice whatsoever compared to Junior. Not even in the same universe. He's a seminal talent in a world of over-hyped, under-talented people in the music business. Sad that so many can't decipher the difference between some bland, totally devoid of creativity or musicianship song and a player.
Forget E. Clapton. This is the genius. But forget most of the so called guitar wizzards. Its fake news. Just listen and trust your ears. Jr. Brown is a genius guitar player.

As much as I love Junior Brown, his cover of Voodoo Child (Long Version ) On Jimi`s 3rd Album called Electric Lady Land, didn`t quite cut the mustard for me. Jimi Hendrix was trading riffs with Steve Winwood during that song, and it was a pure rush of adrenaline!! The 2nd song Junior id, was more his style, and it was great. Props to him for his respect to Jimi Hendrix however!!
I wasn’t going to comment but when you said better than SRV And Joe Bonamassa you’ve gone way over the edge. Nowhere NEAR the best at anything. Not even
That is correct junior influenced srv quite a bit and took lessons from junior so saying nowhere near the best at anything? Don’t think so junior is a great guitarist period up there with the best

the greatest guitarist you may of never heard of,just brilliant
I've loved his play for a long time but you are so right.
One of the greatest. In his own category, like Roy Buchanan and several others...and Jimi, of course.
Jr. Brown is a musical genius. He is one of a kind without a doubt.
As a dyed in the wool Hendrix fan, I instantly took notice of this cut. He knocked it out of the park!!!
Thanks. I’m so glad I whipped out my phone and grabbed a few songs at that show. A lot of people have enjoyed them.

Have had the pleasure of seeing Junior Brown on several occasions, fantastic and always
reminds me that playing the guitar is fun not work.
He can channel anything. A one of a kind guitar virtuoso. And with that Fender and a slide steel augmenting each other there is crescendo of sound.

That tone, just killer!

only confusion, is yours', why would JR need a strat?
Wouldn't have expected this divergent. Hendrix
But it sounds pretty damn good.
I think Roy Buchanan loved this guy if he ever heard him!!!
That is not Voodoo Child. That is called Catfish Blues. However, Junior never let's you down. He's awesome.
Actually, Jimi recorded a song named Voodoo Child which is almost identical to Catfish Blues......not to be confused with Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)
This is my most viewed video. I'm glad I entitled it Voodoo Child.
Layne Franklin yes it is vodoo. There are 2 versions by hendrix one slow and one fast

Nice cover !
Some good down kick was music
Channeling Jimi? JB was toying with that. Too bad that two geniuses never got a chance to sit down and mix licks.

Not much that Junior cannot do on a guitar.

Clickbait. He doesn't play any Hendrix in this video. At all. Not his fault, it's the completely misleading title.

Love JR Brown, but the worst version of voodoo Child I’ve ever heard.
What would you say are your top concerns?
@@infraredruby2 it sounds nothing like Voodoo Child.
@@fordman4962 It’s not a Hendrix Tribute it’s jam. But thank you for your concern. It’s based on Jimi’s Voodoo child (slight reprise)
I like him but not this song sorry.
No need to apologize. We all are entitled to our opinions . (except maybe 8chk9 )
