    There are a handful of little words in Spanish that really pack a punch. They're packed with power! And the word "para" is one of them.
    Up to now we've only been using "para" for the word "for" but it can do so much more than that as you'll soon find out.
    After you go through this lesson you'll find yourself using what you've learned here today all the time in your Spanish!
    Don't forget to subscribe, I now UPLOAD EVERY MONDAY :-)

    Thank you again, Paul. As one would expect, the lessons are getting more difficult but it is so gratifying to put the words together and make my way through the sentences.. Wonderful way to learn a language. Knowing that a new lesson is coming up on Monday makes me review the previous ones so as to be ready.

      Very good Murray, yes it's important not to lose what you've already worked on. This way you compound what you've learned and it starts to become more and more powerful.

    Muchas gracias, Paul. Sometimes when I'm talking with my Spanish friends I got confused because they keep inserting "para" in the mid-sentence but now you've given me so much clarity hahahah.

    Hey Paul, which term would you use more often for "to leave", Salir or Irme? Thanks

    • @SpanishWithPaul
      @SpanishWithPaul  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Stevo, it's pretty evenly split. It depends upon the context... the situation. Strictly speaking "irse" is more correct for "to leave" however because it's a reflexive verb it's a little trickier to conjugate for students which would slow your speaking down.

    Good course again thanks Paul, I hope the mystery of the por versus para thing will reveal itself more as we go on. I don't go to South America, but do travel to Spain when I can, and they tend to use billete for ticket rather than boleto, although they would probably understand you, keep up the good work, gracias

    • @SpanishWithPaul
      @SpanishWithPaul  7 лет назад +2

      It's a big topic Pierre, in my main course I spend a few hours on it over different modules and a lot of drills. That kind of 'in-depth' content style just isn't so suitable for a weekly 30min Spanish lesson here on RUclips.

    • @carlosd.a.9257
      @carlosd.a.9257 7 лет назад

      pierre wave
      The one and only boleto we use in Spain actually it's about lotto/lottery.
      Aswell we use billete for lotto tickets.
      Boleto probably comes from bolas (balls). The original game called lottery (lotería) uses some little balls with numbers on them.
      If you say boleto in Spain all the people will understand you because still we hold the word.
      But, at the same time, better if you specify what kind of boleto are you talking about.

    Hooooray! Every Monday? That's just absolutely superb! I hate Mondays (my worst day of the week) but I have something to look forward to.
    I absolutely LOVE this lesson. So many Spanish lessons tell you when to use Por vs. Para but it's so overwhelming. 9 uses for Por and 7 uses for Para. How can I memorize all of that on one shot???! I've been feeling overwhelmed. And how do I use it?
    But your lesson for doing 1 use of Para with loads of examples, and shortcut is absolutely perfect. I'm sure you'll build up on it but that was super helpful. Now I know 1 other use for Para CLEARLY besides 'for'.
    Keep up the great work!
    Quick question... when you say 'natives' and how natives speak, would this be in Spain or in Mexico? I'm wanting to learn more Latin American Spanish and would be nice to know if this would be used in Mexico.

    • @SpanishWithPaul
      @SpanishWithPaul  7 лет назад
