    One question please!
    Why sometimes for her you (say la) and other time you (say le) for example (no logré verla) I didn’t manage to see her. The other was voy a llamarle not llamarla.
    If you don’t mind can you please explain the difference.
    Many thanks, I really appreciate it.

      Hi Eltardo. In English no one would say 'I succeeded to'. We might say 'I was successful at [doing something]' but even that is not really natural. Most natural is 'I managed to [plus infinitive of verb]'.

    Can you comment on how you'd say You'd manage not to do something? For example, "I managed not to talk today" I feel like if you said, "No logré hablar hoy," it would translate to "I didn't manage to talk today" which isn't quite the same thing.

    • @carlosd.a.9257
      @carlosd.a.9257 7 лет назад +3

      1. No logré hablar hoy.
      I didn't manage to talk today.
      The goal was "to talk". But he didn't got it. He didn't achieve the goal.
      2. Logré no hablar hoy.
      I managed not to talk today.
      The goal was "not to talk" (to talk nothing). And yes, he got it. He achieved the goal.
      In Spanish, to put a verb into negation is always No + verb.

    Although everything in this video is correct, it is very important to know the other uses of the verb "lograr", for example :
    Logré mis metas escolares este año. - I reached my school goals this year.
    Tengo que lograr buenas calificaciones en mis clases. - I have to get good grades in my classes.
    Con esfuerzo, lograré buenos resultados. - With effort, I will attain good results.

    Hola, Paul.... can you please let me know what is the difference between Mexico Spanish and Spain Spanish?

    • @legaleagle46
      @legaleagle46 7 лет назад +4

      It's a bit of a broad topic that would really be outside the scope of these mini-lessons, but the main differences are some slight differences in pronunciation and a few differences in vocabulary, much like the differences between US English and UK English. Probably the biggest difference, however, is one that most beginning students of Spanish don't really need to worry about at this stage: Spain still uses the informal second-person plural pronoun "vosotros," whereas Mexican Spanish does not.

    • @lucylawson4260
      @lucylawson4260 4 года назад +2

      I'm struggling to learn one language, let alone two!
      Yes, "I managed to" means "I was able to" in English, but often in the context of it not looking like it was going to happen. Perhaps I was really busy, or had lots of other things to do, but I still managed to do it; I squeezed it in. You're almost boasting about it, in a really discrete way. I hope that makes sense.

    In this lesson why is it verlo rather than verel ?

    • @seekingHiskingdom
      @seekingHiskingdom 6 лет назад +2

      if you mean why is it verlo versus verle, then I believe it is because you use le when you are saying to him/to her such as decirle, to tell to him/her. But when you are saying "to see him/her" it is just verlo or verla. In english we don't usually saying to tell to him or to call to him but in spanish many verbs seem to have this type of structure and you just have to remember which ones do and which ones don't. Please if I am wrong on this someone let us know!

  • @rachel8739

    Why is 'to see her=verla' whilst 'to call her=llamarle'

    • @mallorcasara1

      When you say or give something to her or him you have to use 'le'

  • @ronpearson8051

    Why is see her verla but call her is llamarle?

    • @zakkmarks6040
      @zakkmarks6040 2 года назад

      ver means to see and llamar means to call.

    • @SimoraCheeks1
      @SimoraCheeks1 2 года назад +11

      If you haven't learned it yet:
      Some verbs use the le pronoun instead of lo and la. Basically verbs that use le are verbs that are an action TO someone. So you call to a person but you're not seeing to a person. You just see them.
      Dar and decir are a couple others that use the le pronoun. So you give to him or her. You tell to him or her.
      There's definitely a better explanation for this but I hope that helps for now.
