    1) how to understand if someone says something in present simple or past simple? like the verb contar is vosotros contamos in both tenses. how to know if they wanna say I count or I counted?
    2) from where should I start learning? like grammar examples
    thank you very much! greetings from Greece! 🇬🇷

    Hi Paul. I love these videos. They're great. If No Hay means There isn't, aren't we saying there isn't nothing? Shouldn't it be Hay Nada? Thanks!!

    • @SpanishWithPaul
      @SpanishWithPaul  7 лет назад +2

      Hi Jason, yes Spanish is full of these kinds of negative expressions... no hay nada would literally mean "there isn't nothing"

    • @DarkManzPK
      @DarkManzPK 7 лет назад

      For latin languages
      "No hay nada" can´t be litteraly translated to "there isn't nothing" but instead "There is nothing" or " There has nothing"... it's just a tiny bit diferent..
      But the way that Paul teaches is 100% correct aswell.

    • @carlosd.a.9257
      @carlosd.a.9257 7 лет назад +2

      Jason Clay
      We use double negation as normal language.
      Even in old times in Spain, we were using double negation as normal.
      Hay nada, for us, is weird.
      Aswell you find weird when someone says:
      - There is not nothing.
      Eng and Spa are opposite-minded in this question. That is all.
      I think, from some point of view, there is a double negation when Eng people say:
      - I can't deny how good it was.
      Why not to say... just... "How good it was!".
      In Spanish we can do aswell "I can't deny".

      Hi there the way I do it, is to go to the main youtube channel he has then click on the list of all the videos there, then you just pick the one with the oldest date and work your way up, hope that helps other people, because I think it is too late to help youbob
