    Made this for my one of my Christmas deserts! It was sooooo good!!! We had it on Christmas Day and several of my family members tried it and loved it! They liked how it wasn’t too sweet like traditional fruitcake, which meant less leftovers for me!!!! This will be a keeper for our Christmas celebrations!!!!! I love the tip about covering the fruit in the dry mix before putting in the wet ingredients so the fruit won’t sink to the bottom. Sooooo thankful, Jill. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, you are darling and brilliant

    Absolutely delicious. I soaked the fruit in orange herbal tea, added an additional cup of whole rolled oats, a cup of hemp seeds for protein and used pumpkin seeds instead of nuts. Fabulous! Perfect for our Christmas celebration.

    I made this recipe as 3x individual 1 pint puddings and steamed them for 2.5hrs. As suspected they made fab vegan wfpb Christmas puddings and were a big hit with the vanilla soya custard I served them with 😋
    Thanks Jill for yet another fab recipe and happy Christmas to you and your family 🎅

    My husband LOVES fruit cake. This was a great hit with everyone who tried it. I didn't have orange juice concentrate for the custard so I used fresh orange juice in place of the water and added a little honey (about 2 TBS to sweeten). I let it be thick and used it more as a frosting. It went fast!!

    Mate, i was DYING to see you pour that creamy custard over the whole cake! Never seen one of those cake tins before. (i'm an Aussie & it reminds me of the sails on the Sydney Opera House! lol)
    Desperately wanted to see the custard making it's way down the swirly whirly sail fin thingys.
    (i am definitely making this cake AND that custard!) GREAT JOB JILL! (u must get sick of hearing that!)

    Hi Jill, you have answered my prayers for my first Christmas as a vegan in the UK where we have Christmas cake. Few questions, what size square or round tin and can it be a loose bottom tin with it being a batter consistency? Please let me know then I’ll be off making this and reporting back. Thank you for all your great content. Are you able to do mince pies and Christmas pudding with a sauce too, usually it is a brandy sauce in the UK so something to substitute the flavour would be the icing on the cake for the sweet treats over Christmas hols. Thanks xxx

    I’m a vegan baker but can’t imagine a cake or cookies without any kind of fat? Even maybe some olive oil or grape seed or coconut oil? Something. Maybe even just a tablespoon or two to keep things moist and rich tasting.

      @alisonlutton9378 2 года назад +1

      It looks very moist and there is some natural fat in the nuts, soy milk and even the oats. But taste is individual and partly what you are accustomed to. I’ve eaten without added oils for a few years and when I encounter it now in restaurant food it just tastes greasy to me.
