I was in a limbo whether I wanted to go with the Canon T5i or the D5500. After watching your run through with this Nikon, you've completely "sold" me on the D5500!! Great video!
Finally someone who likes Nikon and really tells how great the company really is. I haven't found too much of it and I ran across your channel and I love the quality and how you really enjoy making videos. Subscribed and keep up the good work!
A few months ago, I found myself without an employer and decided to finally start a video career. Needed a real camera. This was the video that convinced me to start with a Nikon D5500. Thank you.
This camera is so awesome I had mines for about 2 months I bought it because I wanted to do become a vlogger ,however I didn't know how to get the best out of my camera video setting. This video has helped me and explained things to me so easy and I'm excited and can't wait to take my camera out and try it out.
Thank you so much! I was starting to think I made a bad choice buying this camera. After I watched this video, it's increased the quality and style of my photos and videos. I'm beginning to love it more and more! Subbed
Very nicely explained about Nikon D5500, thanks so much for sharing this information. I have been making videos for my channel for almost 6 months and either using this camera in auto setting or from my phone but now i will definitely switch to manual and make the full use of this camera. Again thanks a ton for sharing this information!
Really nice review, im a 17 year old male and want to get into photography. Thanks to you making this video review, i now know which camera i want to buy.
Sold! For weeks i have been comparing and debating between the nikon 5500 and the canon rebel t6i. This review just made me click buy now on the nikon! THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much you made my day I just bought my d5500 I went from a d200 to a d5500 thanks so much your review made me think and it was a great buy.
Impulse bought this as an upgrade for my D3200 in a boxing day sale. This video made me confident I made a good decision as I mostly use my camera for filming!
How is the D5500 for filming video? I want this camera but i keep seeing comments where ppl saying this D5500 isn't good for video, i don't believe what ppl say i want this camera, how is it?
Just ordered our first Nikon camera ... we've been using Canon earlier, and we went for the D5500. Can't waint to get it in the mail :) -tnx for this nice review of the video settings Nice Lady :) -Regards from Norway
i'm completely a new guy in this field..I wanted to buy a good camera to shoot music videos. Your review helped me a lot to make a decision . I think I would go with this camera. Thanks.
I just bought this camera D5500, it's amazing , but I want to thank you for your review , you pointed out simply some things I didn't understand re wifi sync to my mobile .
Just wanted to say that I really like your videos! Good narrating, insight and helpful tips! I'm currently in the agonizing process of choosing a DSLR to start doing some commercial and documentary shortfilms and up until I saw this I was pretty confident in the D7100. But now I'm not so sure anymore :)
If you're thinking about this or the D7000 series, I'd wait to look at the D7200. The 7000 series is a step up for sure, more physical manual control buttons makes it faster to setup a shot and you have metering for old lenses.
+Damaruth I got mine few days ago.. so far a good camera... I have some fotos which I took with it on my Instagram account.. my username is @ajmalhameed_ Incase if u r interested
You give great explanations. This was one of the first videos I watched before buying my Nikon D5300. And I'm about to order a 35mm lense with f1.8 because I have to record a party and obviously need that low light exposure and avoid having to use so much illumination with the LED light or raising the ISO so much. Thanks for the videos.
Great review, thanks for this. I have the d3300 with a Sigma f1.8 constant aperture zoom lens and I'm thinking of upgrading to this body because I really need the flip out LCD. I do so much stuff by myself in vlog style that it is a paint to constantly have to keep checking to see what is in the frame or if the picture is in focus. Do you have an opinion on the continuous servo AF in live view mode? The D3300 is so bad it is basically unusable.
Great video and excellent explanations and commentary. I am starting to shoot more and more video with this camera now and seeing all the functions it has, it's hard to believe this is considered an "entry" level DSLR (I do realize why it is, but, this is the best bang for the buck out there, IMO). I have already subbed and will be watching this channel for more reviews!
Great editing here and very informative. Thank you so much. This may be my next Nikon upgrade from a d3200. The flat profile option while shooting video is very handy.
A+++ GREAT Knowledge, Video, sound quality, useful tips, SUPER pleasant voice associated with the tutorial/review THANKS for the time and sharing your knowledge! FINALLY a completely helpful video!
ok, I'm a fairly intelligent woman. I do think your voice is great. However, to follow along with you I have found you speak so quickly. It's great information, very informative. I purchased the Nikon d5500 and two prime lenses. I would like to start with manual. I want to understand all the jargon and find any you tube video everyone is so familiar with what they are trying to walk us through the basics it's lost in how fast they speak. I'm a fast talker, now I understand how difficult it has been for others to comprehend what I'm saying. Learning is slow, and too much to quick when you go from the point n shoot. Thank you for your excitement n appreciation of the camera. You do cover material not mentioned in the instruction manual and books I've purchased. By now you're wishing I wasn't letting you talk to yourself. I have found the camera with the 18 x 140 lense to feel heavy. My first pictures after owning it for a month n reading and listening I took with the lens cover on. Yup, for real. I'm also tethered to a port n infusion most of my days. So, there is a lot of awkwardness in my picture taking I need to get passed in order to shoot a pic. worthy of the standard, smile I took your photo. your voice is soothing but could we slow the info. down just a bit? I'm trying so hard to now find a light meter. I didn't know I needed one. I'm taking a photography class in August so I need to get familiar with all this first. I need to practice. I don't understand the screen and I read this cameras flash isn't good enough. Can you help please. The Led screen has me so confused. The camera is on m. I'm operating this thing like I've never been exposed to any camera. I feel exposed or over exposed. like giving directions in another state I'm not from. My daughter, a college,P.h.d. thinks I'm just supposed to know how to take great photos. The Led screen has me confused and intimidated. I agree Nikon should pay you! Thank you for your time n effort.
My audience is varied, I walk into my reviews assuming people have a general idea of how to use a DSLR to start and they want to learn about shooting video with it. There's only three settings you need to focus on when shooting a camera, besides white balance. ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Once you learn what each does you will memorize your settings. For video you're always setting the camera at double you frame rate. So there's one less setting to adjust (just aperture and ISO). I suggest if you don't know the camera start by using one of the other modes that set the settings automatically, then you control just one.
Great video! I just purchased this camera and it is truly amazing love how you broke everything down because I'm a new to the camera area and this helped me understand my camera a lot better. Thank you :-)
Nice video and review! It really helped with the decision making process between the Canon 70d and the Nikon d5500. I've always been a Canon guy, so it makes me nervous to switch. But this will be the first DSLR I use for video platform, so I think it will work well from what I've seen.
Thanks for sharing this. Just older this Nikon D5500 and look forward to using some of these tips. It seem to be the best of both world when most can't shell out dollars for the best you can buy. It seem to be one best all around for the money. The one thing I like the best about this is the flip screen. I look at the D7200 and almost order but when I seen the fix screen. No no! I like the touch screen but when you start placing your nose on the screen it becomes a "Nose Wipe"! I have other things for that! Bad enough using fingers! But I will say Nikon is doing great job trying new things. I think the touch flip screen is here to stay! Thanks for teaching!
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for online. I was trying to find the manual white balance on my D5500 (shooting my woodworking videos, by the way:)) and couldn't open that option. I did correct some of the problems in iMovie but because of the complicatied lighting situation the camera was off a little. Now I know what to do! :))
Great video ! only thing is you stated the hmdi out is not clean when it is. i hook up my d5500 to a monitor and get clean video, you just have to hit the info button until you have a clean image hope that helps :)
SUBSCRIBED!!! :) Hey Lady, at 4:07 I see that red square on the LiveView Screen, does it turn green if that particular area is in focus? Im about to buy the D5300...
Exactly the video I was looking for. I own a D5600 and I wanted to learn more about the settings in this thing to start creating content. I am curious how the "flat" profile is on this thing vs the "SLOG-2" settings in Sony cameras like the Sony A7II which allows for some really great real estate videography. Thank you for producing this video.
Glad the review is helpful. The flat picture style is basically capturing the most dynamic range from the camera sensor without having to colour correct in post to make it usable. Sony's Slog like all log files require colour correction, mostly a pull down of the blacks and push of the highs then saturation added to taste. Nikon has release N-Log for the Z6/Z7 cameras when outputting via HDMI which is more like Slog.
I personally like Nikon and has been using it for around 8 years. I used the Nikon D90 and Nikon D5500 which is totally awesome. even tho sometimes the autofocus gets annoying while shooting videos. what I don't like about the D5500 it doesn't have the "K" White Balance like the D90. when using the D90 i can have full control on the White Balance but with the D5500 i can't probably because I'm not used to it yet. only had it for around 3 weeks. thx for the great video btw :D
NIce video I have the d5200 thinking about this or the D750. One thing of note is I believe you can get clean hdmi output as I do the same with the D5200, you have to hit the info button on the top of the camera once your outputting the hdmi signal and it will turn off the information that is getting displayed, I think you have to hit it twice.
Ok, I didn't experience that myself and when I called Nikon Canada they said the D5500 didn't have a clean HDMI out, but it's good to know I might have missed this. Cheersz
Yeap I think its click the top info button 4 times and the video then fills the screen. I just hacked my firmware via nikon hackers and now can have my live view on for 3 hours without it shutting off and record 64 mbps! Video record length when recording to the cam is still 20 or 30 minutes. But if you record to an external you can just keep on recording... very cool. Now I just got to find out how to get rid of the red an blue dots all over my sensor... If I record video at 1600 iso and above the dots go away. Guess I need a new sensor but might just get a 5500 and sell mine.
Thanks for the over view. Would like to see this camera in action looking at buildings, Flowers and general landscape.. Using the features that are build into the camera. Night shorts,, campfire, moon, silhouette.. perhaps a separate video on doing a wedding..
Just watch the whole review, but maybe I just could not understand properly, but does it auto-focus at a certain point during shooting a video? An important fact for me as I consider buying it.
Super helpful video, thanks. Do you have any tips on the best focus settings for videoing with the D5500? I've given up on using autofocus but thought there might be a trick to it that someone knows!
hi! great vid! just bought the camera and was wondering what is the best lens I could get for interviews and some wide shots. Is Nikkor 18-140MM vr really the best for it all? Many thanks
This is so informative and beautiful. I have a Nikon D5500 with a 35mm 1.8 lens trying to take cooking videos from top down overlay. It is having problems with auto focusing. It keeps autofocusing... Is there another lens you would recommend? Thank you!
hi, wondering if you can recommend a remote to control the video start/stop recording? A remote would be nice to record web videos while the camera is 5 to 10 feet away.
Great review...You should be on some sort of commission from Nikon, reading the comments a lot of people have been inspired to buy this camera based on your review....
Thank you!!!!! this is what i was looking for... I have only 2 questions, what is the lowest shutter speed to record at 24frames? and what do you think about the AF-F autofocus continous ?
Thanks a mill. Any advice on how to video moving objects?planning to shoot the parade, where camera is on tripod, not moving, but the object moving.was thinking maybe sports scene
For shooting video I suggest manual mode not sports scene. Shutter speed is double the frame rate, I'd choose 30fps video shooting and 60fps shutter speed. Then set your ISO and aperture for exposure. Sports mode is for photos.
Great video, I'm considering getting the d5500 as an upgrade from my present d5200 and wondered if there is enough of a difference to warrant parting with my readies. Also will the Meike Multi-Power Battery grip on my d5200 fit the d5500.
i would wait and save more for a full frame the d5200 and d5500 are close to the same with image quality just the touch screen and little iso improvemnt make it different really. my two cents lol
can you please tell me if it is normal for the touch screen to turn off about every 9 seconds, as mine does, when doing photos. I find this annoying but not sure if it is just a setting? Thank you.
Hi. I've been going back and forth between the Nikon D5500 and the Canon T6i. Assuming this would be my first dslr camera, I would like to know which would give me the edge in terms of overall image and video quality, and user-interface friendliness.
Great Video!! I wish you would talk about the autofocus. I want to use the 5500 or the 5300 for vlogging. i know that the canon 70d has a fast autofocus but nobody talks about the nikon produkts.
Great video, thank you. Newbie shooter so I hope this isn't a dumb question....Not sure if you shoot too much video with the 18-55 kit lens but have you noticed that the internal mic picks up strange sounds when in live view and when you have VR on? (I'm not talking about the focus noises which are terrible as well) It almost sounds like the clicking sounds computer hard drives make. I don't know if this is a defect or if it's common in all 18-55 dx kit lenses. Thanks.
I have a question, I'm completely new to DSLR. I just got the 5500 about a week ago. I'm still trying to get to know my camera. when I film something, the audio usually includes this weird noise from I think the camera focusing? How can I film without that?
I haven't taken any videos to upload to RUclips using my d5500 but from what I'm seeing here it'll be perfect. I do wish videos could be uploaded through the app like the pictures. So far I've taken amazing pictures, some even look pro without any editing, best shots I've done are the photo shoot I did of my baby (newborn pictures) I use natural lighting and some of the pictures I even use the build in flash. What lens would you recommend for RUclips videos for the Nikon d5500? Right now I only own the 35mm 1.8g amazing for pictures but not sure if it'll do good for videos
that is actually the best review so far - NIKON SHOULD PAY YOU FOR THIS.
Definitely one of the best reviews I have seen. Good job
I love this womans voice !! Straight to the point information to and no waffling which a lot of camera review videos suffer from. Great job

Excellent review. Very thorough and informative. :)
This was handy, I think you've almost sold me on this camera for video!
Thanks for that instructive and helpful video. Actually Nikon is a great company.
Thank you for this. It was exactly what I needed!
i just have watched this video and it is a very good effort from you , thank you and i will take a view on the other video in your channel

Hey Lady, at 4:07 I see that red square on the LiveView Screen, does it turn green if that particular area is in focus?
Im about to buy the D5300...
Top quality video really well done!
Super interesting video! Thanks!
Awesome video! Question: during the rolling shutter test at about 5:35, what tripod/head combination are you using?
Hey, I use Manfrotto 504HD tripod head. I believe I have it listed on my blog under suggested gear. www.niceladyproductions.info
Very well done!
Could you tell me if Nikon makes a battery pack that fits under the camera body? And could you show us the difference between the two.
much thanx, very informative and helpful w/ technique and camera operation

Very informative video. Thanks for sharing!
I LIKED THIS ALOT ,if i may ask whats the difference between the 3000 series and 5000 series ,im totally new to the specifics
I didn't show the auto focus capabilities of the camera. Check out my D800 review for examples of Nikon auto focus.
hi
i have same d 5500 and its awesome to make videos and very easy to use.
Great review! One quick question.... how long can the video shoot for?
Super helpful video, thanks. Do you have any tips on the best focus settings for videoing with the D5500? I've given up on using autofocus but thought there might be a trick to it that someone knows!
Wow. Great review!!!!! WELL done.
hi! great vid! just bought the camera and was wondering what is the best lens I could get for interviews and some wide shots. Is Nikkor 18-140MM vr really the best for it all? Many thanks
Eleni Nicolaou a little late but check out the sigma art 18-35! Interviews and wider shots are awesome. If not the tokina 11-16 :)
thank you for this review! appreciate it. deff going to buy this now.
Best of the best video .. also your voice
This is so informative and beautiful.
I have a Nikon D5500 with a 35mm 1.8 lens trying to take cooking videos from top down overlay. It is having problems with auto focusing. It keeps autofocusing... Is there another lens you would recommend? Thank you!
Outstanding review. Very helpful. Thanks! :-)
Thanks Nice Lady, very helpfull info. When I grow up Id like to be like you¡¡ XD.
hi, wondering if you can recommend a remote to control the video start/stop recording? A remote would be nice to record web videos while the camera is 5 to 10 feet away.
Hi.
Your review is fine.
Your voice, amazing!
; )
Thanks a bunch! Very informative to me!
Your voice is beautiful
+jlsk8r :)
this is exactly the camera i want im working towards a 600 something starter pack and so far i have 200 dollars. Definitely my goal for 2017
Great review...You should be on some sort of commission from Nikon, reading the comments a lot of people have been inspired to buy this camera based on your review....
I agree! Lol
Thank you!!!!! this is what i was looking for... I have only 2 questions, what is the lowest shutter speed to record at 24frames? and what do you think about the AF-F autofocus continous ?
Great video! Very informative :)
But just to check, you can focus by touching the screen, right? Does it work while recording video?
Nice video, thanks. I was wondering if it has a histogram in live view? I cant find any info on that on the internet.
The camera doesn't have a live histogram in live view. Wish it did.
I thought so,..
nice video , pls share more, also vids recording tips and tricks
can you please tell me if it is normal for the touch screen to turn off about every 9 seconds, as mine does, when doing photos.
+Mr.Dorson This one has more AF points than the 7D. I believe the 7D has 19 and this has 39.
Thanks.
Dan Lopez I have that same problem
Hmmm, I'm not sure. I never used the kit lens, sorry. I suggest selling that lens and getting a couple fast primes (35 and 50 f/1.8)
A new video!! Thanks!!
Great review!
How is this camera for vlogging? Also best lens for vlogging. Ty
