AT Overland Aterra Truck Camper Walk Around

- Ive seen a bunch of different overlanding, truck camping and touring style set ups. I have to say this is easily my favorite larger truck camper. When you travel full time and you dont want a trailer but also want to be nimble enough to get in and out of most trails this platform works. Not a minimalist setup by a long shot! The AT Overland Aterra XL camper is a highly engineered lightweight fiber reinforced thermoplastic honeycomb composite camper. That camper sits on a Lite Aluma Tray attached to a 4x4 RAM 3500 single cab ambulance spec chassis. Bottom line is this beast will get you down the trail and in the backwoods in comfort and style no doubt!!

Great video and tour. I thought I wanted a Four Wheel Hawk until I saw this thing. The only thing I would change is the propane heat. For true winter camping into the single digits or teens, I just don't see that propane going very far. Plus, it's an outdated system for a company who's claiming to be using top of the line modern systems and materials. And who wants to fuss with refilling propane bottles. Maybe a hydronic heat and hot water system? I'd even prefer an Eberspacher or similar, especially with all that diesel tank capacity. Otherwise, incredible camper AT Overland!
I love everything about it except the windows in the dining area should be about 4 inches taller/higher. (Windows not at eye level)
AT Overland design and engineering impresses more each time I watch Mario’s videos.
What is the height of the bed to the roof. Can we sit upright on the bed
Amazingly well done!👍 😊
A za potrzebą, dziadek leci pod pomnik Waszyngtona?.
Hey man, I live in the midwest and use spices, lol!
Haha I knew someone would reply to that statement!!!
@@SirWilliamGoes I only live here the military brought me, lol, so maybe I don't count!
Aloha Mario, how tall are you so we have a better idea of how much space there is above your head ❤️🙏🏼
Im about 5,10 and can stand inside
I am 6' 4", I specifically went to see the Aterra XL in Prescott, to see how I would feel. It is as comfortable, bright and roomy as it looks in this video and others. I have ordered my own Aterra XL and will pick it up in early August 2024
My 120 volt Ninja grill would not like this camper ;)
Pretty sweet. No generator? One 20 gallon propane only? 4wd and you throw on the snorkel? Can you get with a crew cab or do you not recommend that? The one in the video, what is the overall length x width x height? That one doesnt have AC, right?
👍👍👌👋
Can you give an approximate price for that entire package including the truck so we have some idea what the entire cost would be? Mahalo and aloha
Reach out to AT Overland in Prescott AZ. Tell them Sir William Sent you
This is a very clever minimalist setup... I'm in love with it! I haven't watched this all the way through yet? So I'm hoping someone says something about the price, here in the comments?
$80k

Hey, thank you for answering my question. Cheers!
nice build but whoever is taping you need a better mic
Gvwr of 14k for a 3500 would mean dual rear wheels. You cannot order a single rear wheel that high. Perhaps a minor mistake?
Not sure the specifics you would need to reach out to AT Overland
You should try to work out a head up trade for Puddles!
Man I wouldn't hesitate at all!!
that underbid storage is a great idea
In the Overland world they are well known.
Curious what's the R-value of the shell?
Good question. You’ll have to reach out to AT Overland and ask them specific numbers. I’ll say there’s a significant difference in feel but number wise not sure.
Nice stuff.
Mario is one of the originals in America to bring us overland products, I visited his shop when he was in LA. I just wish AT had more exposure!
He's a great dude
@@SirWilliamGoes This is the most concise video I have seen on the Aterra XL; I think it is better than EarthCruiser and Four Wheel Camper offerings!
@@TheUnorthodoxx I agree
Now I'm not saying they're lying about the 1100 lb. dry weight, BUT I have a hard time believing this hard top, fully loaded camper is the same dry weight as a Four Wheel camper Hawk which also lists it's dry weight as 1100 lbs. Just saying. I'll believe it when I see a scale weight.
Well I've been to both factories and I have no doubts. The material used for the FWC vs the AT are definitely heavier. Particularly the laminate and wood they use to skin the aluminum framing both inside and out. Also the top of the hawk is pretty heavy in addition to the mechanism that allows for the top to pop up. Both are good units but the AT is the better in my opinion based on materials, engineering, building process and amenities
@@SirWilliamGoes That may be the case, but rarely have I seen in my life the manufacturer of an RV, Travel Trailer, 5th wheel or truck camper be accurate with the weight they claim. So for me I'd like to see one on a scale.
