- Here are my Top 5 favourite FX Plugin Apps for iOS from 2019! There were a lot of FX plugs that came out last year, 79 of them in fact. We got everything from reverbs, delays, compressors and filters to shimmer effects, all of them supporting AUv3. Picking just 5 wasn’t easy. Check it out!

Thank you for showing us the “before” and “after” effect. Nothing worse than someone demo’ing Fx without showing what the track sounds like before Fx are added (like we are supposed to know what it sounds like before Fx).

The Eventide plugs are pretty neat. If you like Blackhole, you'll like the others form Eventide as well. They are on sale for the next few days. Also, they have PC versions of the same plugins, which I like for consistency making iOS and PC based music. Thanks Jakob for this video and others.
You nailed the best of the best delays , verb and compressor, but which delay? I know modley is great but cant yawl do the same things with the fd1?
Re DDMF Lol yeah a compressor side chain is just the channel that listens for gain fluctuations. EVERY compressor has a side chain. I think the side chain most newer ‘producers’ mean is an EXTERNAL side chain.
Shame not to see 4pockets’ Flux in there- but you’ve given me the nudge to work harder at mastering FD-1, so I guess we’re even.
As for the Magic Death Eye compressor, they’ve come out with the stereo version too but I can’t find any videos of a side by side comparison or explanation as to why stereo is better or necessary. What say you?
Jakob, your videos are always excellent, thanks so much. By the way, where can we find these lists by year of music apps that came out, especially selected by category like this?
gavin mccloskey I use several sites to crosscheck general info on apps (release dates, latest update, pricing history etc). One site that I use a lot is > synthyfrog.com - To clarify, There are no complete lists and I usually have to make my own by looking at all apps released during a year and then categorise them myself. The genre search just isn’t enough many times and so I only rely on proper research.

Great info on these, thanks. Q: regarding the 3 panels/screens on your desk, are they iPads? And if so, do you have them "linked" to each other someway? Like using different apps in unison? Perhaps naive question/s but hey, I’m damn curious.
Those are three different iPad models yes. One is my main “workstation” and in “jam” or ”performance” type videos I use the smaller ones to monitor signals. So one iPad mini have an oscilloscope app loaded and another have an spectrum analyser app loaded. Those iPads aren’t synced at those times. In other videos were Im using musical apps I’ll sync them. I do various setups for whatever I need.

I’m new to apple. I switched because the music production apps are next level. Modal 15, GeoShred, Shockwave, Blackhole Reverb.
I bought an iPhone 7 thinking NanoStudio could handle the Auv3 plugins but found just loading 2 Modal 15 AUs my project will stutter and produce constant static and delay making producing impossible with Auv3.
Can the iPad mini 5th Gen run the apps above
I’m talking 10 Auv3 synth. 50 Auv3 FX
I’m prolly gonna need to buy an iPad Pro current gen huh?

Android will never be useful for production because of the latency issues, sorry. iOS owns the market.
