Yep sure is Bob Robert englund was doing all kinds of stuff back in the seventies and early '80s before the franchise launched him into worldwide acclaim.
4:28 This building, at Foothill and Mather, with the trailer park on the other side of Foothill, isn't the same address as the one Jon hit; it's pre-1981, but still standing today . The building hit was at Foothill and Nassau, with the building on the right hand side of Nassau (3:23) still standing, now with a tile pattern that might have been obscured in the 1981 NTSC video, a doric-topped downspout near the corner which was also there in 1981, and a new gable-shaped parapet over the bump-in, which is now an entrance with an iron grate. The building hit has been replaced with a condo, with Volunteers of America just beyond it. The McDonalds is one lot before (east of) the corner of Woodword and Foothill. That building in the top-left corner at 3:12, with the false Mansard roof, number 8120, is now the Tender Dentist.
Got to love CHiPs scenes! Haha the lady at the construction site ran all the way down the street chasing the loader. Then Jon crashes the loader into an abandoned building with no dust whatsoever. The McDonald’s exists!!
That Skip Loader has a mind of it's own. If you look at a billboard in this video, you can see a three wheeled vehicle. I haven't seen one of those since 1990. I wonder if they are still legal to ride.
You know one interesting thing about this video - and as i'm writing this i'm reflecting on one of your other videos in the Chips series. You show the then and now and in one of your videos there was a vacant lot but 38 years ago there was a building. And you wrote, Kristian, that the building had now been demolished some 35 years hence. So what is so interesting is that jon baker began the demolition of the building amd they should have just left it demolished; So you could write: building demolished after the chips filming and has never been rebuilt
Looks like the builder of that structure that Jon ran into took Jon's advice and went with the corner entrance instead of a side main entrance as originally planned.
Lol. Great find on that, yeah I had to check it out for myself on this entire episode, he has a small part in this, but who wouldn't want to see Freddy Krueger get into slasher mode on CHiPs!! He was in this brown getaway van here.
Wow, that was a great find! I never noticed that til now. that's one in a million that it would be in the exact same spot forty years later. It's probably the owner of Monte Vista trailer park, it's his special spot!
That one in the now photo, if you look at the front of it, it has two windows, one on each side and that onew on the front, plus they are heavily Tinted, as for the one in the episode, that one mainly had the one just in in the front, not the two on the sides, plus the one in the ow photo, looks a lot newer........
First those loaders have hydraulic steering and will not change direction on their own. You have to turn the steering wheel. Second a little building is not going to stop one either. Simply too much weight/inertia.
@@sgtpepper1138 yes. He could have simply put it in neutral and set the bucket on the ground to drag it to a stop. But that wouldn't have made nearly as good of a show!!!!
Amazing how that machine ran a straight line all the way without drifting. Now that's great alignment!!!
I used to love this show
Thats Freddy Kruger driving brown van!
Yep sure is Bob Robert englund was doing all kinds of stuff back in the seventies and early '80s before the franchise launched him into worldwide acclaim.
The van driver is Robert Englund "freddy kruger" in nightmare on elm street.
The "trailer park” is now called mobile estates, so much classier. Still a trailer park from the looks of it.

McDonald's was still there 40 years later

The operator evidently never watched"shake hands with danger" before operating this machinery.

That lady really wanted that loader 😂
0:13 Hard hats should never fall off that easy.

Amazing what a difference in air quality between then and now. The mountains aren’t visible in any of the before scenes.
The air quality there became much better by the late 1980's, but I remember coughing alot because of the smog, it was so bad in the 60's, and 70's.
Good ol Freddy Kruger (later on of course).
5:27 LOL
1981 "TRAILER PARK"
2020 "MOBILE ESTATES"
What will it be in 2059? "CHATEAUs ON WHEELS"
those helmets are really nice. .. you don't see them on police officers like those. ..
I see the future Freddie Kruger.
Larry Wilcox gets to demolish a building.
