I’m so glad to see them alive and playing this. I used to see them at The Warehouse in NOLA. So many of us are gone now. My 18 year old girlfriend and I used to love this when we were growing up. She’s my 67 year old wife now. It reminds us of love that never dies or grows old. ❤️🤠
Saw them in Atlanta, somewhere between 1969 and 1972, cant remember the year, but boy I can remember that show. The most incredible thing I had ever seen and its still at the top of the list.
Randy InCanton Just wondering ... but did "White Bird" come out about the same year as the outdoor concert Woodstock in 1969? But I do agree with you on It's A Beautiful Day on their signature hit song.
Randy InCanton White Bird if I'm not mistaken is about the state of our nation at the time of Vietnam and a serious wake up call was sorely needed for America AKA the "White Bird" - white bird must fly or she will die. America will die at the sound of the Russian or Chinese war machines infiltrating the interstate highway system courtesy of God. We all know from the Scriptures that God has been using His enemies to wake us the human race up.
@@scoobycarr5558 I read David LaFlamme wrote it when living in Seattle about an actual bird he had and how he wanted to get out of the dreary day and Wa. Man Idk where you came up w what u did 😀
Late to the party…just finding out about Fur Peace Ranch. Thank you for carrying on with beautiful live music. Gorgeous song and talented musicians. Reminds me of peaceful, happy memories of youth 🕊☮️🎶.
My favorite version of this is from the Live at Carnegie Hall cd. This song has long been part of my life. Never forget the most beautiful Patti Santos
I can listen to all these musicians playing at Jorma's all day long. This is great!!! How does he sing while chinning a fiddle/violin? I can hardly speak while wearing a turtle neck :) Nice to hear this again.
I was in Worcester Mass in 1971 and decided to go to a concert on the campus of Worcester Poly Tech and lo and beholed here came It's a Beautiful Day and Boz Scaggs. Never would have seen that in Grand Rapids Mi.. Always slow to the show. Thank you. Love it!
Lovely! Thank you! It's so cool to see a John Wayne looking guy play fiddle and sing so beautifully. I think that's the way it is in Heaven. I don't think many folks get in without singing for the Angels. Peace
Rather lackluster compared to younger days with Patti Santos. Put some energy into it. Get a guitarist who can rip off an exciting solo please, to match the great violin solo. Female singer drop about 50 lbs 😃
Saw them at the Fillmore West San Francisco 1970, there voices are still perfect and the violinist still brings peace, whence kicks in ,Ride on!!👍👍✌🖖❤👽
My favorite song until I discovered The Doors at age 10, in 1975. I live 23mi from the Fur Peace Ranch, but grew up in Columbus Ohio, 100mi North of I'm actually a guitar player too since 77'. Bluegrass has always been prevalent in and around Athens,OH, as it is a mere 30 miles from West Virginia, and Athens is home of Ohio University [OSU is in Columbus], and Hocking College ( formerly Hocking Tech..A unique 2 year College that offers student residential housing). The Paul Bunyan Show (iirc it was Festival in the 1970's when my brother was a student there. In which he won several dreadnought acoustic guitar flat picking contests...'pickin'!). Great Bluegrass music vibes in KY,OH,WV,IN,PA!
I saw them three times, once in San Francisco at the Fillmore in 1971 and twice in Missoua, Montana in 71 and 72 (I think). It was a much different band back then, I think David is the only original member here. I have the five commercial releases from those days, the last one with a much different lineup and also a number of questionable releases. I even have some recordings by David's first Linda.
david LaFlamme and patty santos were the original singers on this song >>>>>Patty died on dec 14 1989 in a car accident she had recently retired from music but david and his wife linda are singing here and they are really good together
RIP Patti Santos. Good to see this song played. This rendition is a little less passionate than the original lineup used to play it, though, as is David's solo. (Age, maybe?) I had the good fortune to see the band play around the time their first album came out. Also caught the "barn dance" at the Family Dog at Playland, with David LaFlamme on fiddle and Jerry Garcia on banjo. (If that's not weird enough, the Kool Aid was spiked that night... and it wasn't with booze...)
It's coming up on the 50th anniversary of the "Summer of Love" in San Francisco when It's A Beautiful Day was about to become all the rage along with Jimi Hendrix and all those hot dang musicians. Sadly it's too bad that Jimi and Jim along with Bruce and Janis passed on way before their time. Anyway what the hell is up with the number 27? Jimi and Jim and Janis and Amy passed on at that age. Must be a cursed number.
I don't think Jim, Jimi, Janis and so on left before their time at all. They were shooting stars. After they are gone you ask yourself, "Wow....what was that?"
michael hockin That's a rather unique concept. I believe there is a story in the Scriptures about a man named Enoch in Genesis who walked with God and He took him. If there's real proof that Jimi, Janis, Amy and Jim were taken up like shooting stars, then it's likely that God indeed took them much like Enoch.

They've been around for 50 years and still alive and kickin'! The late great Patty Santos is somewhere in heaven with a big beamy smile on her face. I'm sure that the music world misses her terribly, but Patty would not like anyone to be sad about her. She is in a much more beautiful place and that is all that matters.

David LaFlamme just passed away Aug. 6th (2023).
Such a fabulous song and so great to see people my age still playing and singing it. Thanks!
Timeless. Why they were'nt at Woodstock is beyond belief. They were golden at that time.
Bill Graham had to make a decision, either them or Santana. For some reason, he couldn’t have both.
Bellísimo!
This is just as magical as the original from 1969! You guys are great!
I saw them at the Grande Ballroom (Detroit) incredible then and still now!!
Can you believe over 50 years ago? She looks great!

In '69 my heart belonged to the Grateful Dead, more or less. This song is however, a classic. Love it!!
Thanks to you and the band.

The song that was inspired by being stuck in rainy, grey Seattle while everyone in SF was having a ball.
