Took me 5 months to make this.
I guess I should address this right away - sorry for subtitles and Pyro dialogue. At the time of writing this I’m not sure how people will take this, but I was trying to avoid it as long as I could. I jumped around the issue for way too long, but some custom dialogue had to be added, to expand the storyline and make a couple of things clear. And the only character I could voice was Pyro.
I tried to keep it as short as possible, though my acting performance could’ve been better. It’s very difficult to breathe when doing the VO for Pyro, so line delivery suffers.
In the future GoP episodes I’ll try to avoid using it, but there might be a couple of scenes where it will be required. I hope you guys don’t mind. If you liked it thought, I plan to do an unrelated Saxxy video where I voice the Pyro too.
As usually not too happy with a couple of things in this video, but I gained valuable experience. From now on I’ll start doing story boards in SFM, so that I can pace the video better.
Hope you liked direct reference to one of my favorite scenes from Taxi Driver. I actually reinacted the whole scene, but since I had no Scout saying “You talking to me?!” I had to improvise.
And the long action shot was inspired by MGS5 cutscenes, thought it took so long to make I doubt I’ll make anything like this any time soon.
Oh and Saxxy/Frog are hidden in the video as usually. Update: I just realized that Saxxy is actually out of the frame. It's actually right behind the sliding door on 2:06. I checked the frames and you can't see it. :( Sorry! I messed up!

There should be a cosmetic that gives Scout some facial hair and bags under his eyes, like here.

Pyro either died and came back because he's a demon thing or he didn't really die.

seeing these videos I get two thoughts:
1. This guy should work for valve as an animator. He skilled as hell.
2. He made this story from either a personal experience or he's just down/depressed.
either you're very good, keep it up.
He is pretty good at this, but just because he made this series doesn't mean it's from personal experience or he's depressed.
There was another animation with the chorus "I HOPE YOU BURN IN A FIRE" where Ms. Pauling goes on a killing spree then suicides.
And the animator said in response to a "wow you must've been mad when you made this" by saying that it doesn't represent what he was feeling at that time.
In my case he's actually right, I did go through a lot, and my past experiences are what driving the storyline in my videos. There is no literal connection to my past , but the general patterns and emotions are there. Expressing all my frustrations through filmmaking like this (if you could call my videos films) is what helped me a great deal.

Good video, man. The Pyro dialogue sounded just like they do in-game. I usually hate fan-voiced SFM's but this one was done fine.
Thank you for your feedback. This was the thing that was worrying me the most. I have to admit I need to work on the impression abit more. It's hard to breathe when doing the VO like this.

This is more intriguing than most TV shows
after watching episode 6, i'd say it's pretty much as interesting as some critical darling (movies)/films. What are your thoughts after ep 6? I'd honestly say k.r is one of if not my favorite current-day independent artists (of our time). I love his work and ep 6 just completely fucking blew me away from its production value, meaningfulness, and substantial worth. It's legit 10/10 if you ignore the one frame where the clock from don't hug me im scared shows up in the void world though that's a minor pet peeve lol (no harm or fow to the creator it's just i don't like that bloody clock and how he spews badly written depression fuel). I'd say ghosts of the past ep 6 is up there with the best youtube videos on the platform cuz it just feels as good as a movie you'd buy a ticket for to see in the theater, like saving private ryan levels of good. I absolutely ADORE that heart-sinking gut-wrenching cut where the scout turns of the music and cuts to post-battle where all of pyros friends are brutally murdered by helmet-wearing blue medic and his gang.
The greatest SFM maker ever is back! So many cliffhangers! I cant wait to see what happens with that ree spy!

Okay guys, Part 5 is some time away. In the coming months I will be releasing one behind the scenes video, one deleted scene, and one scrapped scene from this video. Though if I don’t like the way they turn out I won’t post them. I scrapped these scenes for a reason. So no promises.
At the same time I will work on my Saxxy video that is going to be unrelated to Ghosts of the Past series. So this pushes back Part 5 even further. I plan on probably 3 more episodes in GoP series. I know it’s taking a long time but I barely have any free time anymore. I’m in a gym 5-6 days a week (Buff Dudes 12 week program), I have work, numerous hobbies etc. So I usually animate on weekends or on weekdays before bed if I still have some strength in me.

Also, Wohl, regarading red team knowing or not. In my version of TF2 universe, since there are more characters, each team BLU/RED are divided into substeams (squads) that take different contracts. Meaning the Red team as a whole might not know, but the squad is well aware of everything.
I may have stopped playing TF2 but I can never forget about the wonderful sfm movies people make. Been here since 2013 and I've always enjoyed your content, take your time with your videos and good luck

Update regarding Episode 5:
A lot of people are asking about when it's coming out. Worst case scenario - late august 2017, just like I promised. At this time the video is about 90% done, but I just found out that the deadline for Dota 2 video contest is july 25th. I really need to make a video for the contest, because of all the monetary prises. I still haven't made back all the money I've spent on my mocap. And it actually broke down 2 months ago, so I had to order a replacement part, which only added to the cost.
Keep in mind that I do not have Patreon, or any form of donations. A lot of my videos are not monetized due to copyrighted music. Paypal refused to set up a donation link for me because of the country I live in, so I'm paying for any expenses out of my pocket.
My best bet to break even is to make a video for Dota 2 contest and win some small amount of money. So I might switch projects for a month to make a 1 minute video for the contest.
Please be patient, episode 5 is around 15 minutes long, has a lot of new locations and interesting stuff. I don't want to rush it, fuck up and deliver a video with a shitty looking ending, because people in the comments are pushing me to release it as fast as possible.

I can handle the stress of working on something for a long time with little to no rest, but with deadlines up my ass and excited people bugging me all the time - it's getting to me sometimes. I'm really glad that everyone is excited for the next video, and I understand that 6 months without any videos is not a normal thing for a channel, but there's no other way with animation.
And I'm against the idea of spamming your subscription feed with filler vlogs or random 10 second shitty videos. Not posting anything for a long time cripples my channel with all the RUclips algorithms, but I believe in higher quality content for my viewers. Even if it means that I won't get as much subscribers or views, like other content creators.

I think I can but I feel uncomfortable taking money from people monthly considering the frequency of my content. And with patron rewards to produce I physically would not be able to put out any more videos, even if it was my full time job.
Besides, examples of horrible patreon fuckups like Spoony's patreon makes me want to stay away even farther from it.
Even a small donation link was a big decision for me, but alas it was impossible to set up.
I'll try making money with Dota 2 contest for now. I finished animating the contest video today, meaning I'm going back to work on GoP once I finish rendering it in a day or two... And I have a good feeling about it, though MaxofS2D is going to be tough to compete against. :)
I just hope my subscribers won't flip their shit, if I happen to upload the Dota 2 video before the next GoP. It's 95% done, but then there's also rendering, custom textures to apply, custom sounds to record etc. I'm in a very stressful position atm, even without people actually paying me monthly. lol
I would personally love a Pyro Taunt where his eyes glows like in this series. And let's just not talk that the animation is just incredibly smooth! Keep It up man

Great work Konstantine. The pace seemed a bit slow, the music was great, and the animation was good. Also, the official voice actor for the scout (Nathan Vetterlein) has been doing a lot of custom voice lines recently.
Yeah, I've heard about that and I wanted to ask him to read a couple of lines from the movie Taxi Driver. But I figured he wouldn't be interested in doing VO for my videos. I imagine he's really busy.
And the process of submitting requests for reads on Twitch is a little complicated and not guaranteed. When I'm making a video it's usually planned ahead, so taking a risk and hoping he'd get a request from me is out of the question.
But who knows, maybe someday it will happen, if my channel gets big enough. :)
You can always ask him on twitter. I'm sure he wouldn't mind a line or two.
If Nathan snubs you (most likely he'd just ask for a lot of money), there's always Musetrigger. He does a good Scout impersonation and has been in a ton of SFMs, including Saxxy entries.

Someone had also suggested he might be a retired RED spy and Rymaruk responded by saying that it will be revealed later in the story.

Well, Here I am 5 years after this was released. I saw up to episode 2 originally but never watched the others and the first thing I notice in this video is the reference to the film Taxi Driver. Good stuff man, lol

I've been a fan of this series for a little bit over a year now (i believe i had started watching when you had just released Ghosts of the Past 1) and i absolutely love the storyline. I actually got a bit emotional in OUTITF 2 at the end, but that was probably bc i had a family member who had passed during that time and i was a bit depressed. Basically, i love what you're doing and i hope you keep it up :) (btw i absolutely love the Red Pyro he is such a badass; tho it could also be bc the Last Breath is my fav Pyro cosmetic lol)

Another great animation, but there is one flaw that I've found in it, and it's what you mentioned in the description: The Pyro having voicelines. Before this episode, the Pyro was an even bigger mystery than the real Pyro- Why can he throw fire? What's the significance of the helmet? How did he survive getting shot through the chest by a flare and then having his body cremated? That's what made him an amazing character. But now, it might be just me, but something about that character's been lost seeing him talk to someone else, rely on someone else, and then get disrespected like Davy "Demoman" Jones did and then have nothing happen. Like I said, this is a great animation and I'm really excited to see episode 4 of this series finally come out, but I personally think something was lost when you added lines for the Pyro.
Quick edit: I just realized this sounded like I meant EVERY Pyro having voicelines is bad. It's really not, I like a bit of character added to other Pyro-class characters. But the main Pyro, antagonist, with his opening scene? That just kinda killed the character a bit for me.
Thank you for your feedback. Actually there is a reason why I gave him voice. I wish I could tell you why, but it would spoil future episodes. Once the series is over I hope things make sense.

I seriously can't praise your filmmaking enough. You have such an incredible, natural way of conveying emotions. The atmosphere is also frightening, which I think is incredibly impressive because TF2 is such a goofy game by nature that I could never imagine it being scary, yet here you found a way to make it completely terrifying. And in such a smooth and NATURAL way, too! Scout slowly descending into madness has me clenching my ass, and now that Spy has figured things out, I'm scared shitless to watch the next episode.
