Father MOMOTARO ♂(2000/7/3)
He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAC.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Poor Kintaro, daddy was giving him some super loving. He did look a bit perplexed by it, but not scared. I think Momotaro loves both of his boys very much and would love to play with them more but doesn't really know how. Genki did some swift maneuvering on the beams getting out of the way of her sons. She looks like she's moving around a lot better these days which is nice to see. I love seeing them all interacting together. They have a very interesting family dynamic. Thank you for sharing these videos, allowing us all to enjoy this lovely family.💖🦍
Remember Momotaro was raised without his father, so he basically started out “winging” the dad thing. Then Gentaro was taken away for many months because Genki did t have enough milk for him. Momo didn’t even know how to mate, Genki had to do all the work…lol. He’s doing awesome. I think he was so wound up with his “responsibilities” of being troop leader/alpha male he didn’t realize he could play. I remember watching videos of a tiny Kintaro bugging his dad to play…it was the other way around 😊

Looks like Momo wants to get some play time with the kids, but is just a bit ackward. He is still young himself too, so would want to play at times.
I read somewhere that when their mouths are open, but they’re not barring their teeth, that is smiling and laughing To them. I’m learning bit by bit.

I remember when I was young my brother and I played roughly all the time and every once in awhile we would fight too. But then after awhile we would be ok, not mad at each other anymore so we would start playing again

@shawna6683 It's not really something that Kintaro is all that used to. Maybe now that Momotaro is playing more often, it will be easier for the 2 boys to adjust to it, without feeling scared.

I believe that Momentaro, that he scared away Gentaro, because he wants him out of the way, so he can play with Kintaro, and when Gentaro sweet face doesn't look sweet no more, and he Pearces him lips together,he is mad,he tried to be close to dad, but he rejected him and knows that, and sees his dad loving on other son,he is hurt and mad, Gentaro has went back to hiding more, and is the most emotional male gorilla,I've seen.I know Momentaro is like a lot of silver backs, that the older son, should not be to close with him,I know Kintaro loved his dads attention,but Gintaro was envious,he still will give his younger brother attention, he loves him,it's got nothing to do with him.
