- The essence of Cheng Style Baguazhang 64 Palms set performed by 78 year old Grandmaster Sun Zhijun
The 64 Palms set was created by Cheng Youxin (the 2nd son of Cheng Tinghua).
Although Cheng Tinghua passed away when Cheng Youxin was only 9 years old, since he was of the Cheng family, the disciples of Cheng Tinghua and friends of other martial arts styles would provide guidance to him. After 60 years of practicing and research Cheng Youxin created this 64 Palms set which was later to become the essence of Cheng Style Baguazhang.
In comparison to Yin Fu the eldest disciple of Dong Haichuan, Cheng Tinghua only studied about 4-5 years with Dong Haichuan and was shot at the hands of German soldiers during the Boxer rebellion. Thus he did not complete his teachings and it is thought that only three palms were specifically taught being Single Change, Double Change and Smooth Palms. His oldest son was skilled as were his disciples many of whom were from other styles and in fact contributed much towards expanding the system. These early disciples did much to up hold the Cheng tradition and developed the Eight Mother Palms. The result is a relatively new development where the palms are much more smoother and circular, whilst the stepping absorb the Tangni Bu (Mud walking) method which is much wider than that of the earlier Dong Haichuan generations (Yin, Song, Ma, Shi, Liu etc)
Feichanghao!!!! Kicking around 80 years old, so amazing! If it keeps him young, just think of what it can do for us!
I cannot believe just how fluidly he moves for his age!
Fantastically mesmerizing !
Amazing Bagua performance! Thanx for share!
Impressionant.
This made me cry almost so beautiful!
Amazing for health and fitness for all 👍 .
No words can explain this performance.
gentle fist art 8 trigrams 64 Palms
Striking while in motion is an excellent idea. An opponent would be attacking into a human spinning always moving fan blade.
Wow!!!
I can imagine air appearing.
I'm quite sure i was gonna say something smart.... But this guy is way beyond words...
Thx. Thanks 😊
Bagua = Fonte da juventude!
Very fluid. Impressionant technics.
The applications are in free movement against single or multiple opponents.
Sooooo beautiful. I had chills haha
Красивое выступление! Вопрос: как применить это в бою?
I feel pain everywhere.
Love this Swimming Dragon form, though I learned it from another Shifu, I always hoped that I could polish this form from Sun Shifu ...
M Sun Zhijun passed away in 2016
I have a question about it the steps of the 64 palms movement. Does he have to take a certain amount of steps before doing the next palm in the sequence?
Not necessarily. By the time you learn this form, it is more a free form, depends on your space, and your feel .... you no longer count steps.
this is the second pre heaven form its not 64 post heaven palms those are liner in fashion the pre heaven firms are the stucture the post heaven are the application of pre heaven
I love doing bagua. I've done it for over 20 years. That said, if you search "any style of martial arts" vs "any other style of martial arts", ex), "Bagua vs MMA" or "Boxing vs Karate", bagua does about the worst in fighting against most styles, unless the other fighter is untrained. That said, as your amazing MMA counterparts are invariably getting injured and unable to fight, you can soon defeat them. SJJ could defeat 99.9999% of 80 years olds.
However, even though I love Kung Fu/Wushu, MMA is about as effective as it gets in the short run, but again, with unavoidable injuries. Gotta keep it real Kung Fu zealots!
That's because they didn't practice professionally intended to fight in the ring, as Bruce lee said it is not the art that's weak but the individual lack. Bagua beat boxer and BJJ easily if you are good but most good master dont even bother. You mentality and egoism is your worst opponent. BJJ and MMA are sport based on rules of the ring, try those style on street and you are beaten easily with Bagua Karate or tai chi or shaolin kung fu
@@alphaomega1969 well then I guess that the vast, vast, vast majority of all KF practitioners don’t train for fighting. 😂😂😂😂😂
Don’t forget, I love kung fu. I’m a multiple grand champion, but I’m keeping it real.
@@MsBob314 It doesn't mean anything even if you are multiple Grand champion, you are not getting my point.... There will always someone who can beat you even if they dont know martial art. Wudan fighter beat two MMA fighter in the ring. which tell you nothing is concrete. what style you practice? Let me guess MMA?
@@MsBob314 Bruce Lee invented MMA fighting style, does MMA is better than BJJ or other art ? No
I practice Bugua and Xin Yi, 7 Star Praying Mantis and Tai chi for over 20 year and you can call me a grand master, who doesn't need to prove to anyone anything if you follow the philosophy and respect others. i'm 44 and i looks like 18 due to my meditation and Chinese yoga practice. you said you are a grand champion , what is the essence of stamina?
What's with the walking around? Can't he stay still and fight?
Is someone ever still to fight........The style applies circular footwork as of central importance......even Muhammed Ali emphasized the importance of footwork......there are many ways of combat in the world.....
Sure, even Bruce Lee, but he (they) didn't walk around in circles... They stayed on their spot looking at the opponent , waiting for the moment to strike. In Baguazhang you walk around until you get the back of your opponent...
I used to practice Silat and Escrima. You need highly mobile footwork to fight with blades.
But He Just Imitate neji I think He is Neji's master But He Don't have 8 Trigrams
Then why are you here you disrespectful?
