I have to say this looks pretty epic for a camera in it's category. Those pics look amazing, and the body itself looks just like a DSLR. Great job!
The body looks more like a Medium Format camera

Can´t wait to hold P1000 in my hand. I have had a lots of fun with my P900, both long and short distance, amazing pictures. The new RAW-format is the thing for me.

Being able to manual focus with the ring is great. So to be clear you can use focus peaking when in auto and tweak the focus with the ring if it's off a bit or no?
Would like to see some lower light video examples, like inside or over cast or under shade. I know inside isn't the main thing this is for but I'd want this as an all around bridge camera.

Can take a photo at a distance of just 1cm away, what an amazing model!
You'd be able to see the rings around Saturn with this camera.
Set to 4k video, zoom right upto the 3000mm equivalent then transfer image to pc, crop video to 1080p " due to light interference, haze etc, you'll not notice the difference between 4k and 1080 anyway at full zoom.
But what you'll get by cropping 4k to 1080 "keep image you want in centre of frane" is a 12,000 mm equivalent 1080p video..

Zoom is better on the P1000 than the P900 but it has the same 16.1 MP sensor? P900 is still a great camera but the sensor was already below average for photo, if you have a really good stabilizer you can take some very good video .
I have the P900 and this is a great upgrade that i hope to get soon.
Just a quick question . Is there any possibility of full frame p1100
would have been cool if there was a 12MP that did full frame 4K and because of the lower pixel density could gather more light in each pixel reducing the need to bump up the ISO at full zoom or at night, the other way to do this is to make the sensor itself larger, but that also requires the lenses be larger which would make the camera far too heavy to hold

Okay, you didn't have to twist my arm, I will have to have this camera!
It has been confirmed to me that the P900 is using "the same sensor from the P900". This is a massive bubble busting spec for me as that was the weakest part of the P900. This sensor was a poor sensor back in 2015, it was slow and noisy and gave photos a pastel painting look in anything but the very brightest conditions. I really can't see a camera with a poor 2015 sensor selling well at 2 or 3 times the price for the P900.
Why would Nikon not update this pivotal part of a camera to something cutting edge like one of the hugely better 12mp sensors we have in phones at the moment?
Quite honestly £1000 for camera with a 1/2.3" sensor is ridiculous anyway, I was a big fan of the P900 and had it for several months and took it on many shoots but ultimately I had to get rid because like i mentioned the noise levels and noise reduction made pastel paintings out of anything but the very brightest days. Something else i couldn't live with is the shot to shot speed was insanely slow and it had a buffer or about 5-6 photos, just to be clear this was 2015 not 2005! It was painful trying to capture anything moving.
Don't get me wrong, there were times i was impressed by the P900 and I got some nice shots it but the camera would have been a world beater if Nikon used an ultra high image quality, fast readout sensor. But Nikon went for the headlines of 3000mm but in doing so have more than doubled the price whilst leaving the main flaws in place. I actually believe you would get significantly better images 95% of the time with something like Panasonic FZ2500 or Sony RX10iii both with 1" sensors yes similarly priced.
Personally I would have preferred Nikon to have left the optics as they were and simply updated the sensor and image processors in the P900 and released that at around £400. I think they would have sold a huge amount more too.
it is the just rip of flat eathers that not have taken the time like me and learn some basic photografy skills wich lead me too buy a Nikon d700 (budget issue) and now i need get all the right lenses too

With all the new upgrades, Why is Nikon taking some requests from the P900 customers and still leave out the eye cup? This was one of the most 'cons' from the P900. Or is this going to be a feature on the next model, so fans will have to upgrade again. $$$$

In the past the biggest problem for borders with these bridge cameras was capturing birds in flight. How is the p1000 at capturing birds in flight?

JagatheesH1101 then it would have to weigh twice as much and be twice as big - in order to match the IQ of this lens, the lens diameter would have to be twice as big too. The P1000 is too big as it is right now, the only thing they could have done better would be to design a new 1/2.3 sensor meant just for this camera, instead they used the one from the P900 and their other point and shoots.
then the zoom would be less. but ya, 1-inch sensor would have increased the quality of photos and low light capability significantly.

Does it have fast, precise spot AF as well continuous "servo" AF that can track moving subjects? All that zoom wont mean anything for birds if you can't focus on them.

hahaha reading the comments after watching the video, ppl ( some maybe 80 % ) will never be satisfied ) you know inner contentment does NOT come from outer space but from inner self exploration , when they bring out the Nikon P1100 with Iso from 100-10000 and raw, and whatever shit you need NOW , there will be another need which is NOT yet done . Its never ending story , unless you get the satisfaction from inside ( like start to meditate or do yoga) .Enjoying my P900 with satisfaction and wishing the P1000 when the time gets ripe! :) Bliss n fun
i agree.. people these days are so angry and vicious.. i to own the Nikon P900 and love it.. and cannot wait to get the P1000 in September.. i'm pretty sure most of these negative comments on the nature of this bridge camera dont even own or have used the P900.. some of my best pictures were with the P900.. and i am super excited to get it's predecessor..

Considering that the tripod mount hole broke out of the bottom of my P900, the zoom hesitates, the speakers no longer work and the rubber grips have all come loose. I will be bridging over to Canon.
I can't wait to zoom in on objects that should be hidden by earths curve but are completely visible!
