Tracking my Modified Mazda RX8 for the First Time

- Thanks to SCCA Track Night, I was able to take my modified Mazda RX8 that I prepared for the track, and "race" it. Well not a race, just driving fast, for fun. I love the set up at the moment, but will definitely need some more cooling mods in the future. It was my first time ever tracking this car, and my first time at this track, so my first session was a bit rough. After that for the second session, I felt much more comfortable and did much better. Most of this video is from my second session. The third session I dialed it back because it rained again right before it. Hopefully you enjoy this video of my track day with my mazda rx-8, can't wait to get this thing back on the track for another one!

4:12 How about that rotary scream 9500 RPM??
Best video men!!
that was fascinating
Can u do a driftiing on track I feel like it would be entertaining to watch
If you want an amazing mod. For your car get a Grimm speed stainless steel shift know for your rx8...675 gram one( almost 2 lbs.) Feels so amazing going through the gears now....be a great video to make also. Great track video! Cheers
I've hit 9200 RPMs in mine, but never 9500
I just bought a 2004 RX8 two weeks ago, and your videos were a large part of my research into the car. Mine definitely needs some love but hopefully I can bring her back to her full glory. Cool to see you're also from PA!
Wow can’t wait to get my engine back together and in my 8 that looked like a blast thank you for Sharing that with us !!!!! Gary
Good show
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just got my rx8 engine bridge ported rx8 fresh motor, can't wait to get my exhaust, and hit the tracks, upgrade brake rotors, maybe lower it.
Iv done a few track days with my Rex great fun had her 7 years now
Nice man !
Next step : gain weight and use mecarun P18 to protect your engine and gear so this car will continue to perform longer !
Very cool video I like it
Why gain weight?
Congrats on the first track day. Did you have issues with fuel starvation during heavy Gs on left turns? It happens to me and I can’t figure out how to fix this issue.
did you premixed it with 2T oil before putting some fuel? How was the lap times compared to those STI and Evo? I'm thinking on buying a RX8 to make it a track car, but not forcing its engine so much, thinking on a small turbo too...
Yes i premixed before tracking it. SCCA track night doesn't give lap times, it is emphasized as not being a race, its just for fun. As you probably saw, I kept up with the evo pretty well and passed the STI along with multiple porsche 911s. It really comes down to what tires you are running, and how you are as a driver. The RX8 makes an outstanding track car because it handles great with its great balance and it screams to 10k rpm. So much fun to drive on track! I would stay away from forced induction for the track, the engine heats up enough on its own. With my set up, bolt ons and a tune, it runs great with plenty of power in the high rpms to keep up with many of these quicker cars even on the straights as you saw in the video when I ride out 4th gear in that long straight before turn 1, and the evo was hardly pulling on me (at 9:54 in video)
@@JapandaTuning oh, thats cool to know, oh man, you have no idea how excited i'm to put my hands on a RX8, it was my dream car as a kid and I had no idea one day I would be able to have one, in my country Mazda never sold them, actually Mazda never been present here, fortunately I can buy it on my neighbour country and drive it normally hahaha!
Where did you mount the GoPro for the view? I'm getting ready to track my RX8 in a couple weeks.
Iv seen people fit them on the sun roof upside down if you have one Iv now got the Center mirror camera that works good
How did the 255 tires feel?Do you think they are a bit too wide?I dont know if I should get 255s or 245s..
They are fantastic. Definitely recommend the 255s over the 245s, but also depends how much power your 8 has. Maybe 245s are better for completely stock
@@PeterArmour Well I only have racing beat headers and a complete rb exhaust system and lightened pulleys so probablly around 220hp, but I am planning on porting the engine(hopefully I get to ~240hp after that and a few other mods)
What track did you race on? And what all do you need to get ready for the track?
Looks like this was NJMP Lightning.
Hey I have an rx8 series 2 and I love what you are doing with your car. I wanted to ask some questions and was wondering if you had an Instagram I could text and ask some questions like performance mods and exterior mods you have done and where to find them
On first place, save the car on the track!
My rx8 has a hesitation at 4500 rpm, I have no cat and I replaced the ssv with the updated version. Does anyone have any ideas?
Have you checked your ignition system
@@Jason-hl2wy I have new coils and wires and plugs. I'm thinking it's related to ssv or vacume system.
i had the same problem and fixed by replacing the solenoid and checking all the vac lines out. also a bit strange but gave the ssv vac line a suck (like a straw) to see if the valve was easy to cycle.
@@itsgrimace that's what I thought thanks
Nice. You live in NJ?
PA
Japanda Tuning ayoooo I’m in PA too bruh got myself a RX8 not too long ago 😊😊
Which track is this?
NJMP Lightning
Anyone have any experience or knowledge on the turbos by rx8performance
Dont turbo renesis engine.
@@j0lel666 why?
@@Fazer1971 my english shit to explain but it is different kind of exhaust port and not much power gains. If you want more reasons why renesis is shit use google and you will find many things. I would keep renesis na.
@@Fazer1971 turbos create extra heat and the renesis exhaust ports have little clearance with the seals so when the heat causes the material to expand too much...BOOM no more engine. If you want more power on the renesis your best bet is some form of porting
@@PeterArmour my renny is street ported that's it.
Hi i was the frist one to see ur video canu give an shout out for mee
