Mr Lee Kuan Yew devoted his life to Singapore, fighting for her independence and transforming the island from Third World to first. Revisit his view of the world and look ahead to Singapore and Asia’s future amid turbulent times in this video that marks the birth centenary of Singapore’s founding prime minister. Three prominent figures - political scientist Professor Graham Allison, Former Malaysian Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, and businessman and philanthropist Li Ka-shing - share their encounters with Mr Lee Kuan Yew and their view on the man himself.
This video premiered at the Asia Future Summit 2023, a conference jointly organised by The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao and The Business Times on Oct 4 and 5. The summit explores the role Asia can play in the world and the opportunities ahead in a fast-changing geopolitical and economic landscape.

While affirming the leadership of LKY and the pioneer generation of leaders, we must also be grateful to the Western world for the nurturing of Singaporean talents including LKY himself, cabinet ministers, many top civil servants and entrepreneurs. The industrialisation and influx of capital and technology transfer during the 70s-90s, and last 2 decades building a world financial centre, were mostly funded and catalysed by Western countries (US and Europe) and Japan.

Hope the mastermind to drill a geothermal well in the centre of Singapore be exposed as it had created a 5.5 Richter quake in Pohang, South Korea in 2017. We cannot afford to have even a 4.0 Richter quake as our many underground tunnels and buildings will be collapsed. As LKY says, "... this is not a game of cards. This is your life and mine."
