Quite helpful.. Converting a 2020 R1 to a track bike and got "stuck" five minutes in, while taking of the fairings. Decided to go and have a look on the good old RUclips... I'm glad I did!
Such a good detailed video🤙🏾 was dreading stripping the front end to get to the intake flapper but they way you give out the sizes of tools and direction made me confident enough to take on the project
One thing I love about my 12' cbr1000rr is it has a tank cover, only the cbr600rr has a tank cover, all other bikes don't have this feature. So you can totally change the look of the bike and don't have to worry about damaging the gas tank, tank cover can easily swap out.
Sorry it has been a very long time since I have worked on this bike and I do not remember. I would suggest taking a look at some of the OEM parts schematics. - Van
+HeroofSomething We will likely install some Race Bodywork at some point in the coming year, but next time we do service that requires removal of the bodywork we will make a separate video!
Damn, I watch your videos for pretty much everything for my bike. I just did the coolant flush and I broke the coolant drain bolt.. Long story short I have to remove the water pump and get the bolt out some how. Quick question. In the process of taking my water pump off, I noticed oil coming out as well.. I'm trying not to panic but I'm freaking out.
Watched the whole vid to see the main thing not be shown in the video that i wanted to see😅 the mid side panel, mine came lose and broke off where the larger area is at 😢🤦🏻♂️
Sportbike Track Gear unfortunately it didn’t bc it didn’t show the part being removed in this video lol (mid side panel) theres a few R1’s with the same problem it breaks off easily on right side but a bird hit my knee and panel and it popped out of place but also broke the brackets and only replacement I’ve seen is carbon fiber for 160
i have a question. Me and my buddy were installing a fender eliminator kit on his 2018 r1 and i think we blew a fuse. where would we check that. we cannot find the fuse box.
There is a fuse box up front on the left side of the bike. Remove that black trim panel between the outer edge of the upper and the frame. Pretty sure you can get to it from there. - Van
I feel so dumb.... I took my r1 apart 2 months ago and forgot how to put it on sort of xD im like wtf these two small connectors where do they connect. I watched your video to no avail, and then it dawned on me for fuck sake theyre the damn mirror turning signal connectors xD i got a good laugh at that.
By any chance did you end up running the stock kickstand with the race bodywork? Or was the kickstand removed? And if so how did you remove it? I looked at mine earlier and it gave me a headache trying to figure it out.
+MOTO 361 On this bike the kickstand was removed, all it takes to remove is ust one bolt that the whole stand pivots on. You can eaither secure the switch or remove it entirely, depending on what you are comfortable with. Many people leave them on, even though they can't be lowered. Thanks for the great question!
Brian Vance has gotten me through so many bike problems and rebuilds on a budget!! THANK YOU!!

The Yamaha R3 has a tank cover on it as well. Cool design, pros and cons like anything else. - Van

Do you have a video to replace the ram air intake Mines cracks and taking all the electronics I can't find a video .
Sorry we have sold this bike and did not shoot a video on that when we had it here in the shop. - Van
Can you guys do a video on the removal of the stock body work on a Yamaha R3?
+HeroofSomething We will likely install some Race Bodywork at some point in the coming year, but next time we do service that requires removal of the bodywork we will make a separate video!
Can you make a 2015-2016 R1 rear seat cowl install video please!
How much weight in total does doing this race body swap save?
I have to admit I have never weighed the parts to understand the weight difference. - Van
Thanks so much this will really help me

@@sportbiketrackgear I changed my screen and changed the front nose fairing to a carbon one it looks amazing

Billy Kincaid coolant doesnt mix with oil. You may have a crack inside the block
Great video thanks for posting this.

You are a legend sir 🤙
Appreciate the kind words. - Van
just curious on what you did with the headlights after you took them off.
Is this the same process for a 2021 R1?
Should be super similar. - Van
Thanks for the video. Too bad you no longer own that thing.
Watched the whole vid to see the main thing not be shown in the video that i wanted to see😅 the mid side panel, mine came lose and broke off where the larger area is at 😢🤦🏻♂️

Dumb ass
very good, useful thanks pro
Where can I buy the front nose of this bike the one holding the windscreen?
These were all OEM parts on the bike so you should be able to source them from your local Yamaha dealer. - Van
