Sophia is quite the videographer. She kept every thing in frame. I can't even do that every time and I'm 47 with a degree in cinematography. Also, love snapping turtles. They look like relics of the past.
Tom is amazing and everyone is happy with this deal. The snappers get a bigger more realistic home and Tom knows they're cared for and has the space he needs and kenan gets some awesome turtles
I won't lie..I'm jealous of Sophia..she gets to hangout with you and all the reptiles all the time and she is going to get to learn first hand about all these animals

@Gilbert M you can clearly see Leo could care less. Either you have a genuine interest or don’t and that’s ok if he doesn’t. I’m sure he has other things he interested in Kenan just doesn’t show that of course.
Eh, it's okay. At least the girl shows genuine interest and will probably continue on after Kenan retires

Such an epic video! Tom seemed happy to let them go to Kamp Kenan, but sad to see them go. Sophia was so excited to see her new friends and even told Chomp (Godzilla 2) “hi!”. She’s such a treasure and I hope she sees all of the comments about her!

So nice to see how you treat Sophia. I grew up on a farm and followed my dad around. I watched the dehorning and even castrating of the cattle. I tried to help milk the cows. My dad was very patient. He taught me how to catch bridle and saddle our horse when I was about Sophia's age. He brought home 6 rabbits for me and taught me how to breed them. My dad was amazing.
Alligator snapping turtles are probably my favorite reptiles. They’re *SO* cool!
I know Tom took good care of them, but it’s so great seeing these guys go from those (relatively) small concrete tanks to Kenan’s huge pond where they can live the life they were meant to live while still being protected and taken care of. And of course while educating people about how amazing this species is.
Alligator Snappers are vulnerable and are at risk due to habitat loss and from people capturing them for the pet trade.
They’re extinct in much of their original range and are endangered in several states.
The more people show them as education animals as they *should* be, like this, maybe it will become more widely known what they require and how rare that is (that you basically need a zoo or very large filtered stock pond in the right climate.), maybe the demand for them as pets will lessen and their numbers in the wild can bounce back.
I love seeing young Sophia’s excitement. She has no idea how lucky she is to be learning from you. Hopefully she becomes a veterinarian or scientist. Even if she chooses an alternative path she will always at least have a passion and knowledge for animal care.
By the way, she clearly is talking to us at the beginning. Kid knows what she’s doing!
For my opinion, no one can keep turtles in the way like kenan can do it. Much respect and love for him.🥰

And When you went with the feeding pole to give him a Mackerel when the Jaws slammed shut the whole exhibit and floor Shook with a THUD! Amazing! I think Tom is happy also! Great guy!

KENAN= my brothers used to go snapper hunting back in the '70's and one time my brother caught a huge snapper, even bigger then your big guy and the turtle jumped and snapped at him and caught his pant leg so tight around his leg and wouldn't let go. Bro had to cut it's head off to get free and that turtle head held on for 4 whole days until it let go! it was an amazing animal!

Such beautiful turtles Kenan! I have a 60lb alligator snapper living in my natural farm pond. It's always amazing seeing these creatures in person. They really are living dinosaurs.

It's so cool that Sophia is learning from u. U know I bet Kate would be the same way if she wasn't brought up to be afraid and scared of reptiles as a kid. Which im just assumimg because we learn to be afraid and we're taught at a young age that these animals are scary and dangerous and they don't have a purpose unless there being made into boots or belts. This is so awesome if Sophia keeps this passion and goes on to bigger and better things in the conservation world. Great vid Kenan oh and Kate has came along ways as well. So this is awesome for the Kamp.
