Your work is fantastic and beautiful! I am a paper crafter and I was watching some resin videos and I ended up here. I am always surprised by the different arts that are out there that I still didn't know about. WOW!! I did not know people were handmaking beautiful pens.
I was just poking around on youtube and found your videos. Those pens are Beautiful. You can tell you take pride in your work and enjoy it very much. I've got Everything Resin and wood and Im going to make something with it all. It wont be pens because I have no access to the tools you use, but something will be made. Anyway I subscribed just so I can watch what your making and listen to you describe the process. Keep up the good work. Beautiful Craftsmanship ! Teresa
Very nice. I don't think you need that many coats of ca but if the voids are significant then I guess you may need to apply more coats. In any case you ended up with a pen that I would buy in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing the video. Well done.
Beautiful fountain pen just started turning pens foe 6 months did my first 2 fountain pens last week it’s been allot of fun. Everything I make on my pens goes into my sons soccer fund. I work 2 jobs so I only get a few days a week to turn pens but is a destresser for me and I love doing it
Hello master, good day. I admire the way you create a pen. In this regard I have a question: having the blanks, what do I need to buy to "Pen State I" to make a pen? Greetings.
Really phenomenal! I've been making pens with polymer clay and have been looking into new finishing coats. Polymer clay buffs up to a nice shine, but I've found the shine wears down quickly with use. I assume because it's such a soft and easily scratched material. I'm curious how long your glorious finish lasts with that final polishing you did? do you find they need to be polished again occasionally? Thanks for sharing, you do really amazing work!
Katy Rogers Thanks Katy! I really appreciate that. With the CA finish the shine lasts forever as long as it's not scratched or tarnished in an unusual way. Sometimes if it's rubbed it won't seem shiny, but a quick wipe with a shirt or paper towel will bring the shine right back. It's my favorite finish because it's so durable and water proof as well as food safe. Thanks for your compliments and watching!!
very nice work Casey I live in the uk and I was wondering if u could give me a web site where I can get the tool you r using to shave the blanks please and the full list what u used so I can try and find it in the uk but the important thing is the first tool thanks
That came out great! I would have liked to see the making of the blank too. :P I never mind watching turning. It's hypnotic. I worry that when I do get my lathe after the first of next year I will have problems remembering that I have to stop sometime. :p - Heidi Edit: Just went to check out your other videos before I subscribed and found you have a video on the making of the blanks. Going to watch it now. :)~
Fantastic video, the pen is totally stunning! :) I have a question: what is the turning tool that you use? I'm not familiar with that shape! *pauses to romp on the net* AHHH, it's a carbide rougher with a replaceable tip...which one, I wonder? I am intrigued by this tool, seems like it's really super!
okay I work with pens a lot but I've never seen someone use that white powder before? could you give me some insight on what that is, where to get it, how to use it, that would be very helpful thanks!
Just beautiful, although I think it would've looked even better with a little less white... but that's just my personal preference. I appreciate how you polished it up to a shine, instead of just spraying a coating onto it. I think it looks way better that way. 👍
I appreciate it! If you watch some more videos you’ll see 99% of the time I don’t use a spray finish. I don’t think spray finishes work that great at all
@@CaseyMartin707 that's what I find too. It always looks much, much better when a piece has been polished to a shine, rather than sprayed. Spray finishes always gives them an odd look, and you can almost always tell.
I just turned a pen like this today, and there are all sorts of fines scratches from the sandpaper on the acrylic parts... I went from 220 Up to 600, and then did like 10 micro mesh pads getting finer and finer every time. I thought after that I wouldn't have any scratches and I still see some. How can I get rid of them? Help!
+hfletcher39 You can check out my website winecountrypens.com to see the prices per pen, and I do offer lower rates for 10 or more pens. Thanks for watching!!
glenn lefley My lathe is a Nova Comet Midi 2 lathe. My drill press is a 10 inch Craftsman drill press. They both work phenomenally and although I take good care of them, I have used them a ton and they work the same as when they were brand new.
Beautiful. Watched your "making" video and this one, and they turned out awesome. That grapevine wood comes out really nice. Keep up the good work - from one turner to another ;o)
hey man loved the video but i think saying a short description of what you are doing and then adding music to the time lapses on some parts would make the video very entertaining!! good job tho looks amazing.
zaine skyler thanks man and I totally agree with you on that! Looking back on it I definitely should've added some music to the long turning part that's sped up.
Love the work you do Casey. But, you should Never use any chemicals, including alcohol, from anything but the original container or one that has the proper caution labels on it.
It looks great but I'm an avid fountain pen user and I turn pens. This pen looks amazing great job but that pen kit just doesn't fit my hand. The grip is to small and awkward. I made a continental fountain pen ( I got the kit from woodcraft) with some zebra wood and it has weight to it, which I like but man those grips are just uncomfortable.
Yeah it's definitely all personal preference. I've found I like these kits a lot because they're a good balance for male/female customers. I personally like to use them with the cap screwed on for added weight. However like I said it's all personal preference so whatever kit you find is best for you then use that! Thanks for watching!
Casey, great video.. beautiful pen. Its nice to see the whole process, now I understand how the pen comes to life. Excellent video.

Beautiful work.....blue and white blends nice with the wood.Good job buddy.
Thanks man! I agree I really like the blue and white contrast with the wood. Thanks for watching!
Amazing!!! So much fun to watch. I've never seen this done before. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Casey, Congratulations on making a very nice fountain pen. The finish you have is Stunning.👍 😆 👍

Casey, not being in wine country where can I get some grapevine? Have you made a vid of putting a grapevine blank together?
Hi Casey it is always enjoyable to watch you doing a FP. Be SAFE!
very nice! but I wasn't able to find hut ultra gloss finish on amazon. any good known substitute?

I like watching the process. These are amazing, great work. Thank you!
Quick question Casey, you use glue to finish them? If so, what type please? Really beautiful work.
Hello, I really like your videos, I bought a pressure cooker, I wonder you could tell me how much pressure you put in the pan? 30, 50? thank you
I love those grapevine blanks, that one turned out sweet!! Great video, keep up the good work :D
Zac Higgins Thanks so much Zac! I'm thinking a grapevine bottle stopper next!
What kind of glue you apply with the accelerator? Ans where can I find that pen kits?Cheers
Whoah I would most definitely buy that fountain pen. It's beautiful!

Thanks so much! I actually have made a video casting this exact blank and others! It's on my channel if you'd like to check it out.
Casey Martin Yeah I found it and edited my comment. :) Also subscribed.
Sweet thanks so much for your support!!

absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Where can i find the details of the pen. Is there a link or maybe i can find it on aliexpress?

it looks like a pietersite stone , very cool !
Definitely going to buy one of those pens! Great Christmas gift!
Beautiful work. Not to be disagreeing but I for one love watching the slower version of the videos. It lessens the learning curve for me.

Try using a polish at the end, I use HUT ultra gloss polish and it works fantastically. It’ll get all the micro scratches out!
What polish did you add with that blue towel?
HUT Ultra fine
Are you using the thin or a medium CA Glue for the finish? I have been using gorilla super glue gel with some good results.
Wow, that turned out really nice
Great work! What kind of sandpaper do you use? Please can you reply? The ones we made became dull and scratch after grinding :(
I use micro mesh pads and I wet sand. I think I mention that in the video but if not they’re easy to find online if you just google micro mesh
@@CaseyMartin707 thank you so much
