I am stunned by how phenomenal the articulation is. Had no idea there was a balljointed torso or ankles until this review. You can tell Character put so much time and energy into really relaunching the toyline with the relaunch of the show, and I genuinely cannot wait to get these in hand. Hoping we see the TARDIS re-released soon!
Wow, I am legitimately blown away at how good these two figures are. Absolutely incredible, can’t wait to get them in hand. And we finally get the Psychic Paper, hope that fits in some other Doctors’ hands as well. Can’t wait to see what else Character Options is cooking up for these Vortex Editions, because they killed it with these two!
Lovely figures, really are amazing, so glad to have ordered them and can’t wait for them to arrive. Yes they are the best CO have done in recent years, but hear me out, Kudlak. Kudlak will always be (in my opinion) the best figure character have ever done, that head sculpt is just superb, the hands are great, he has that coloured plastic with paint apps too, and will probably be the figure that looks the best beside these even though he was made in 2007.
I don't usually watch action figure videos cos I tend to just buy them, but I was interested in this. Your analysis is great, very specific and very detailed. Sounds like they've cracked the figurine production and although I'm curious how this will impact the price, it sounds like it'll be worth it .A range of Doctors like this seems like an obvious win, let's hope so!
Really feels like they've taken notes from the black series and marvel legends. Good! It's been a long time coming tbh. I am a bit unimpressed by the range of movement in the elbows and knees but I'm hoping they'll get the hang of that as the line progresses. I'm guessing we'll get a 10th, 11th and probably 4th doctor in this style. I'm obviously hoping for all of them. And some companions and enemies. I can't wait to get a tenth doctor figure into a running pose where he can actually balance on a shelf.
They look amazing, can’t wait to see which figures they bring out in the future under this new vortex edition. Perhaps another Ncuti variant with a Sutekh possessed tardis set?
I hope they give this update to at least some of the other Doctors! Also.. Al Dewar if you’re somehow watching this and somehow reading this comment… maybe you can pull out an 8th Doctor TARDIS please…👉👈
I ordered mine today and I honestly can’t wait for this figures. I hope we finally get some companions and maybe even some updated Doctor variants on the new gen 3 body.
The articulation is bordering on SH Figuarts level. That's really impressive for a line that in all fairness, doesn't have a big budget. I just wish the molding points under Ncuti's ears could've been cleaned up a bit better. It's kinda distracting. Otherwise, really looking forward to adding them to my shelf!
I think the word you're looking for is "skort", though the way they've sculpted the figure isn't quite how the actual skort she wore in the episode was constructed, that really wouldn't have been doable as a figure, so they've sculpted a skirt piece that looks like shorts at the back, a pretty good representation of them
I'm really hoping that they start making more of these styles of figures for older characters and monster designs. I'd love for a rerelease of the 14th doctor like these figures
As far as I know these figures are much more modular than the others. One thing I want to try and confirm with myself is that with the arms they might be able to pop out easier than other figures. The coat should also be completely removable in a similar way with 14
I do hope we get an updated 12th Doctor. At his proper height and with a more accurate head sculpt. Also a re-release of the 14th Doctor and a Fugitive with glasses.
I rarely collect figures from new Dr. Who, but this does look good in the sense of: accessories, new poses (don't they mean Gen Z? 😃), great paint applications, and excellent sculpture(s). £20 each for what you get is value for money. It could have been so much more. I will be investing this today. Thank you for the action figure review, Matt. Update: I have just brought the set.
I haven't purchased Doctor Who figures in years, I was gonna get the 13th/14th Doctor pack until I saw the 14 head. But thanks to this review I instantly bought these figures.
Ordered mine at 10am this morning before the website went down. I would have to agree with you that these are the best figures that character toys have made to date.
These are really nice figures, possibly the best articulation any Doctor Who figure has had in quite a while, really looking forward to getting my ones I've ordered, excellent review Matt! 😊
The extra articulation is kinda whatever, but the deco is wonderful and the number of accessories, considering how CO have skimped on them recently, is wonderful to see
There is an issue with your figure with what looks like a hole either side below the ears on your figure . that you didn't seem to pick up on during the review
As great as these figures look, with articulation that’s such a step up from what’s come before, I worry that the retail versions will forego the articulation and (to a lesser degree) the paint jobs. I also worry we won’t get the psychic paper in a retail version of the 15th Doctor, but that’s hardly a big issue in comparison to the lack of articulation/paint job… I know why Online Exclusives have become the norm for Character, and the toy industry as a whole, but I don’t like the divide it creates and I’d rather these figures were just on the shelves, on retail, for new and old fans to collect; same goes for the likes of The Fugitive Doctor and Chase Dalek set that have come out in recent years.
@@oliversvoice4383 I can confirm that, while the retail version only comes with the Sonic, the paint and articulation are the as good/the same. Watch this space... 👀
Shame they can't put this kind of effort into The Real Doctors 1963 - 89. But then again they did want to just do classic Figures, but RTD stepped in and had a tantrum. So we're forced to enjore these. No doubt the figure line will be over soon due to how little these will sell. So it's a shame we'll never have upgrade classic who characters.
Well, I've not made one in over 10 years, so I'd be lying if I said I still made them! Yeah, I miss it, but sadly no longer have the time to make them.
It's a shame its online exclusive because you know the retail version wont be as good, these should be the retail version, this is what we should see on the self.
I hope they let me buy Fifteen without Ruby sooner or later! I only collect The Doctor and not the companions, because there's only so much shelf space in my house. 😅

A vortex edition 10th doctor from like 'Silence in the Library' with a great head sculpt would be insanely cool!

I would absolutely love a new 12th doctor with an improved headsculpt, maybe one from Twice Upon a Time?
@JohnSmithPlaysGames Honestly, I would love a head-to-toe remake of the 12th Doctor!
Nice to see they learned from the 14th Doctor's head and stooped slathering them in paint

Awesome review! I am so amazed and stunned at the likeness of these figures! Especially the 15th doctor! I absolutely love it! Brilliant work!
If only Matt was still doing AFA 🥲 could’ve seen these amazing figures in action!
I can’t wait to get mine, these looks so good! Hoping we get more like this maybe if the demand is high we could see CO revisit past Doctors
These look PHENOMENAL!! I really hope they make it across the pond to America!!
[appreciate the MOTU Origins & Masterverse shoutout, btw]
Excellent review Matt, it only took 19yrs we finally have the psychic paper in this line
Would love to see Ncuti's Dot and Bubble outfit at some point.
I can’t decide between this version or the general release versions?
Get well soon Matt! ❤

Love the figures! Are we expecting a review of the B&M sets soon?
@RupotRu Yep, just need to finish recording them!
It's a fantastic set. I ordered mine earlier today & after seeing your excellent review, I'm now even more excited to get them lol. Thanks.
Wow! Getting ever closer to Action Man level of articulation. Just need some removable tailored clothing now.
And Eagle eyes! 😉
can't wait, I think my favourite thing is the accessories, it brings so much value to the figures, reminds me a lot of rotd ace
They look fantastic! I'll 100% be getting these now!
Can the new elbows and knees still do 90 degrees?
I guess Matthew hasn't heard of a skort before.
Awesome figures great review just oreded these from character option 👍

The Ncuti head sculpt is astonishing.

I just want a new Donna figure 😢
Looking forward to it and soon the b and m even hoping you do action figure adventures again.
I don't know why but Ncuti Gatwa reminds me of a young version of Will Smith, but these look amazing!
These look fab 🔥
I got my one ordered and I think it is worth it I enjoyed ncuti as the doctor he will be so amazing next to my other doctors totally worth it 😊

Why do you always say “used to do figure animations” in pst tense?
Do you ever miss it? Just a little bit?

@@LimeyOtoko You're in luck! A retail single carded release is on the way!
@@batmanmarch Perfect! I'll keep an eye out for that then. Do you know if it still includes the mine etc? This figure looks incredible.
@@LimeyOtoko The retail version only has the Sonic, also a different outfit. The blue Space Babies version.

Great figures, I wonder what votesaxon07 thinks of these
