your playing is incredible man. I've just been using plugins for the longest time. with a little practice amp to boot, but I am finally about to pop my tube amp cherry. I think this would make a great option, Thanks for the demo.
Right on, thanks so much! Plugins are great and I still use some for particular projects, but there's just something so satisfying about having a physical tube amp
thanks dude! You partially inspired the intro haha-got me on a Tiny Moving Parts kick with your recent stuff. That all definitely got this idea going and it was just too good with the Micronaut not to go for it
@@ambienttrash5234 damn buddy! That puts a huge smile on my face. For real!!! Dylan’s guitar work is just so unique. He is totally one of my favorites and honestly it was the “Always Focused” riff that really got my playing going in that hybrid pick/tap style he does. If you don’t already follow him on here I highly recommend it. Seriously not a bad sound on that micronaut! The way the two modes are voiced feels like you get a fender combo with mode 1 and a Marshall with mode 2. What’s not to love? Lol.
@@ediththeband oh hell yeah, Dylan absolutely kills. Saw TMP on their first west coast tour with Modern Baseball back in like 2013 and he blew my mind. I don't do *a ton* of the tappy stuff or anything but when I do, it usually comes from that influence haha
@@ambienttrash5234 totally! I feel like it is one of those things that needs to be done in moderation. Lol and we need to tell that to bands like Dance Gavin Dance where I literally hear tapping in every riff… haha.
I had bought this amp, it was able to produce some really nice sounds, but there was a very distinct and quite loud hum which was very noticeable with a speaker connected, even if the volume was completely turned down to 0. The level of the hum remained unchanged with the volume control of the amp, so if you played the amp louder, you couldn't hear the hum anymore, but during quite passages and/or pauses, it was very noticeable and annoying. I think the hum was from the output transformer perhaps being too close to other elements. It was the European 220 V version, and perhaps it only is affecting the 220 V version and not present on the 110 V US version. Even though I really liked the sounds, the hum made this amp basically unusable for me. The hum was also present on the line out signal with any speaker attached. Would love to hear feedback about this issue, if it also affects the 110 V version, and if there is something planned to fix this issue.
Interesting, I only had the Micronaut here on loan for a bit and I did notice some hum from the amp itself, but not really through my cab or monitors so that's a bummer. I'd hit up Silktone directly though-I'm afraid I don't have any real technical insight on that specifically.
I have this amp with the corresponding speaker cab. Used as a preamp it really breathes life into my Quad Cortex. Killer combo. Great Review T
hey thank you! And yeah, it's so rad running it before another amp/sim for some extra shaping and that raw drive texture
And Hell yeah to that Title Fight song just before the ambience!
Love the direction you took with this. The various tones are crazy good!
