Puddin, Just some Datsun history: I am 64 years old. I bought a new standard cab Datsun pickup in 1979. The sticker price was $4,300.00. Note: 1979 was the last year for Datsun. The last year for leaded gas. It also was the last year they were imported from Japan. In 1980 they rebranded the name to “Nisan” and started building them in America. First year for unleaded gas was also 1980. The 1980 model (Now Nisan) was priced at $7,200.00 for the same model truck I bought the year before $4,300.00. Of course with an increase of about $3,000.00, my truck held its value. I sold it 5 years later for $4,500.00. That’s 5 years of driving and still made a few dollars. Of course I did some upgrades to it. It was white with both a dark and a lite blue pin strip. Of corse I added a bad ass stereo and installed 60 series tires with slotted mags. I’m sorry I never took any photos of it. People always doubted me that I had that wide of tire on it until they read the sidewall of the tire. I started with 60’s on the rear and 70’s on the front but soon realized the 70’s were rubbing when making sharp turns. The 60’s were a lower profile tire so I put 60’s all the way around. Never had an issue whit rubbing after that. They stuck out past the sides enough you could use them for a step to get in the back. Also I just remembered, 1979 and earlier did not offer 4 wheel drive. So guys would use a “body lift kit” . I think it was 10 blocks. 4 for the bed, 4 for the cab, & 2 for the radiator. I think the front bumper had new brackets. Then they replaced the transmission with a scout transmission with the power takeoff. It bolted right up to the Datsun 4 cylinder engine. Then they replaced the front axle with a Jeep CJ5 front axle. Anyway, Just some info for you. Thanks for helping me to remember my youth.
I will say Puddin the time you spend helping your daughter with her school shows here far more than words alone how important school is. Also building some memories. My kids are all smarter than me thank God
Love it when Mr Bill is in the shop with ya! I enjoy all the folks who pop up regularly with ya but, there's just something about ol' Bill! And thanks for bringing back the old intro! As always, thanks for sharing & God bless! ~ Scott 💙🙏🏼👊🏼
Those are some tough little trucks! We had a mustard yellow 74 we used for hauling wood back in the early 90's Arkansas. We would pile wood clear up over the cab. My brother and I would have to sit on the hood to keep the front end down when going up hills. Great times!
My grandfather loved his Datsun trucks. We use to freight them with hay right up over the cab and haul it 20 miles back to his horse farm. Love your content!!
Loving the old intro, what a great video to bring back the old days of mini truckin again I love all of your content but I’m partial to the old mini trucks god bless you and your family 😊
Nothing like starting my week off with main channel Monday and mortske .2nd channel and pole barn garage Thursday. Vice grip garage Friday sleeper dude sat and junk yard digs whenever a episode shows up..and whatever else is on Tuesday and Wed makes the week go by fast
That's one thing I hated about Datsun and Toyota's is all the vacuum hoses! They can be a nightmare if you start having vacuum leaks? But I still love em lol!
The skinny white with those steel stockers and the shiny hubcaps are really cool! By the way, the marketing nick name for this truck back in the day was “Little Hustler”. And you made this little guy hustle and haul the hay. I always like the 610 pickup. And when the came out with the 610 king cab, they struck gold. They created the stretch cab market.
Really enjoy both ur channels. I'm closing my shop in el paso.tx. been open since 1972. I have at least 100 chiltons, mitchells, and motors Manuel's, some 60's to early 90's. Free for the taken. Domestic and foreign.
When I was in the Navy, I had a 1978 Datsun B210 hatchback that I loved. Too bad I was young and stupid and wrecked her. Thanks for another awesome video.
I know youe done a million Datsuns but man that s a solid little rig. It deserves trying to bang those fenders out and straighten them up and make atleast a clean little stocker out of it. Id happily watch another Datsun build. Or at least a real good clean up with fixing it's few more issues before letting it go.
HEY MA !!!!, Puddin is haulin' hay with an import compact shortbed. (and we all love it) nice job guys. Wild Bill in the house. Great video gentlemen. (and Theo of course)
Great video and it is definitely nice to see the old introduction. Good to see Bill and slick also. Would be nice to have a old Datsun like that one. Owned a old Datsun and Ford courier when I was younger. Liked both of them and ran great in the snow too. Thank you very much.
I can remember when my Uncle came home with a Datson pickup. It was the mid 70’s and looks a lot like this lil truck. A very cool Green paint with white striping and white spokes. Was it a dealership modification? Not sure. It had a white steel rear bumper with the dealerships name engraved on it. If you grew up around this time, it was all about fuel economy. As God is my witness three round bales?? Wow. Love it when Wild Bill and Slick get to stop by. Puddin needs another channel, “off camera “ stories with Wild Bill! 😁
Had a 72 Dodge Colt with one of those carbs, never really ran right. Had a Honda 750-4 with a rod hanging out of the block, so I did what came natural. I cut the colt manifold, fabbed (more like bubblegum welded up) 4 tubes to the bases and ran the Makunies! Took FOR-EVER to sync, but once they were, it ran like a scalded cat!
Fairly new sub. I first saw you on Mortzge channel & thought you were not only hilarious & talented, but just a great all around dude with badazz tattoo sleeves and leg sleeves. Im a tattooist. Been doing it for 7 yrs now. Self taught and opened up my own studio/business. But man as soon as i found you on here, i became a sub & started to watch the last few months content. And i love every single video brotha. Your sence of humor is fab bro. You make me laugh like the whole time lolol 😂😅..and have to say you are very very talented and do sum awesome work bud. I cant stop watching your content and definitely hopefully will get to watch every one and wipl comment on them. But ive also luved these Datsun's. Not only did you prove they are work horses, badazz mini trucks but also can pull sum mad wheelies lolol 😂👍😁💯. Ive never seen a datsun do a wheelie before and when u grabbed 2nd , it was choice brotha and hilarious at the same time. Luved how you edited that part too! Good ol bill was loving it too! But a cream puff this datsun is. Got great patina, only 40 sumthin thousand miles on it, and u got it running, driving, proved it call hall almost a 1000lbs with ease & can pull wheelies!!! Also that is super awesome your daughter killed it on her spelling. Congrats to her, the eife & you for being a 💯 Great dad bro. I like the pernumpciatin too lmao (cant spell cause im illiter.....Aite too bud hahaha😂) but great work bro, great content, luv what ya do, luv the homor, luv who you are brotha & cant wait to buy merch, support the channel, be a dedicated sub, & hopefully one day get to meet you, shake your hand & get that autograph brotha. Keep up the amazing work ya do. Ohh luv the pooch as well. Hes a badazz shop dawg & can see the luv yall have. Luv bill & his absolutely amazing truck build he done. He is also very very smart & talented and very funny as well. Does he have a RUclips channel? Gotta luv the potcounty jokes too 😂😂💯😁👍
Good info on clutch slave, but I'll one up on you! Some aftermarket parts supplies have the whole pump, hose, and slave in a pre-bled kit-just install and go!
I saw a guy from England in Thailand on RUclips. He bought a 620. It was lowered too much for the roads in Thailand. I helped him out in the comment section. Telling him to change the lowering blocks and adjusting the torsion bars. He appreciated it.
The ol Datsun brought back some fun memories, I had a blue 73 in the mid 80's that I did a sbc V8 swap on using a Hooker headers kit. I lowered it so it would strategically hang the headers up on speed bumps, really fun truck that was like an oven inside lol
Love that the warning ⚠ is finally back I have the sticker on my coffee mug that I use at work daily let's go visalia really close to the Boling bros let's go Lindsay
Like you said you already have a lot of projects lined up to do but I’d love to see you hold onto this Datsun. I myself am really excited for the loadstar. But sense this Datsun is so solid I’d love to see it be the next giveaway build. I mean you are the Datsun king. And it would be even better if you done dirt cheap air ride!
My grandfather put helper springs in the back of his 1979 toyota 2 wheel drive pickup truck, stack firewood up to the roof of the cab, hall it no problem, turning was a problem as she was a little light in the front, before that he did the same with his chevy luv. They can haul the heavy loads, but it takes a toll on the little truck that can. There was more than one time that the leaf springs had broke and had to be replaced and broken frames were pretty common as well.
Our famous line when you picked up entirely to many building materials when I done construction was "dont worry about the mule, just load the wagon." That seems fitting here. Great video, puddin.
I just want to thank you for keeping your videos simple and in the spirit of your originals. So often, when channels grow, they think they have to up their game, and turn their videos into a big production, like something you'd see on TV. When that happens, I lose interest and move on. I appreciate that even though your channel has grown a lot over the years, and you've moved to a bigger shop, you're still the same "Puddin's Fab Shop" we all came to love.
Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵I think it was really great to see you and Bill having a good time working on that Datsun. Bill, it'd be nice to see you as a regular part of the show, you're a great mechanic and a funny dude 👍 I personally am highly impressed with that Datsun especially pulling a second gear wheelie with 3,000 lb in the back 😱 best video you've had in a long time Puddin ✌️🇺🇲
Seeing the old intro definitely put a smile on my face!
It was instant for me too I missed those days so funny still love you
jakewhite6417 I just wish he would have put in the part of him falling out of the bed of that green Datsun. Pimp Down.
Agreed!
Need that banjo music song. Something inside my brain smiles when I hear it cuz I know it's puddin time
Was about to comment the same thing!
Whats more unbelievable; that truck hauling 3000 pounds or that theres a Mortske fan page?
😂😂 this comment killed me! 🤠🤠
Hey.... even house arrested, ankle monitor wearing inmates, like Sir Mortikus, have fans these days.

Love having the intro back.
It moved 3 bales of hay & pulled a wheelie in 2nd gear... very impressive.
That's one thing I hated about Datsun and Toyota's is all the vacuum hoses! They can be a nightmare if you start having vacuum leaks? But I still love em lol!
Man it's nice to see you guys working together on a junky mini truck
The skinny white with those steel stockers and the shiny hubcaps are really cool!

Welcome to puddins and bills don't give a damn machine shop
I really wanna see ya do a full frame up full paint old school mini truck build and that Datsun would be so sick.
Hot damn it's time for another one 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Great content and great to see Bill there with ya!!!
Puddin Time y’all
I'm so happy to see Ol' Wild Bill hanging around the shop more.
Yee haw its puddin time
Hey Puddin. Use that Berrymans B12 to help break up carbon on the valves and pistons. Just pour it down the carb when it's running
Should take the body of the Datsun and put it on the solid axle 80s Toyota frame you have make a sweet patina 4x4
Our famous line when you picked up entirely to many building materials when I done construction was "dont worry about the mule, just load the wagon." That seems fitting here. Great video, puddin.
Puddin time is always a good time
My dad started buying Datsun back in 1978 a would haul a ton of cattle cubes every week and never had any problems
Lets goooo!!
Yay! The old entropy is back. Was missing it.
I just want to thank you for keeping your videos simple and in the spirit of your originals.
