I give Kaplan credit. There’s no way I could be in a business like this and have it succeed. I would keep every bike he shows and this KDX is another great example.
20 motor bike business all died in my city within the last few years. Every motocross track died too. 50% of road motorcyclists have died on the roads. Even kawasaki killed off the KDX. Still People don't realize the KDX is just a motocross racing bike that rides slightly different to the regular motocross racing bike.

I love the 200cc two strokes. I was looking for a clean Kdx 200 but couldn’t find one so I bought a 2022 Beta 200 rr race edition!🤗 Best bike I’ve ever had. Long live the two strokes!!!!!!!!!!

Im glad you demonstrated its ability to crawl around like a four stroke without having to fuss with the clutch. Having owned one I can tell you have it dialed in clean from bottom to top. You can creep up to a log and just snap the throttle and clear it without using the clutch on those KDXs
Way better then any new 4 stroke play bike had mine since new in 91 . Fatty pipe boysen reeds and fmf silencer are excellent additions 👍 they plunk around with no complaints or scare the crap out of any sane person in the woods
I got one 2001kdx 200 all original great shape still has the original front tire still on it .still just like new .picked it up in Kentucky. No marks on front forks or swing arm .bottom of frame no chips or dings .a nut or bolt never been turned on it outstanding compression carb is leaking a bit other than that it's an awsome bike

I had two 1984s one engine was done by Eric gorr and the other done by croch rocket factory. Crf back in the day of my youth at the time you could not get a better woods bike road the thomaston dam just about every weekend. Great bikes.
I love my e2 kdx200. Best bike I’ve ever rode. It might not be the most powerful bike out there but I love showing off to guys one new husky’s and ktms on hill climbs and trails. I left mine mostly stock in appearance with what I’d consider tasteful and period correct. I don’t think I’ll ever sell it
When you finally realize It's just a motocross racing bike that is designed for endurance style riding, you might sell it. It's not designed for hill climbs. It doesn't work on trails. You'll have to approach kawasaki and request a hill climb bike and a trails bike. Endurance motocross racing bikes are designed for going round and round on motocross racing tracks .

I have 1992 KDX 200 , sweet bike. Went-thought it , and it only has maybe 5 hours on it since. Bout it new in 93 , head milled, ported and carb bored, run great. The only thing that’s not Oem is the front fender.
Dream bike right there, If I remember right KDX was off road bike road legal, where as KMX was road legal off road, KDX was basically a motor cross bike with a number plate.

Jeff Fredette is the man. I had an 05 220 built completely by him. From the engine to the suspension. These bikes are tanks and take whatever you throw at them. Kind of regret selling it lol.
I've owned 4 of these little beasts...absolutely the funnest off road bikes ever!! Little suspension work if you're over 180lbs and then just ride the heck out of them...only issue now is price. Even rough examples are a grand. My good friend sold me his super clean 2006 and it's a keeper. Not as powerful as his 300xc but I smile just as much. This kdx200 will sell fast. The suspension was perfect out of the factory. You don't just thrash them. They have reduced steering performance when compared with the regular motocross racing bike. The gearing isn't as good on them.
I cut my teeth on a late 80's/ early 90's KDX 200, I still regret selling that ol girl cause she was a screamer. Had WELL over 5k miles on the dash (had the odometer) and ran like brand spankin' new every time I would kick that lever. Fast, fun, super comfortable bike
The manic mechanic is a genius no doubt but i have a huge spot in my heart for Ken O’Conner. Incredibly talented and a bike encyclopedia. He tells you like it is dosent sugar coat it but is honest and doesn’t up sell you.. my opinion just do whatever Ken says because he’s right. Iv got two cranks and a engine I need to drop off to him

I remember a review of one in a UK mag back in the early '90s. They extolled it as being the perfect displacement back then. It was the KMX 200 over there. I've seen a couple on CL ( D.C. ) recently for only a couple of thousand and in very good condition. I wish my wallet had been as good condition. lol. Otherwise these are real hard to find as no one wants to get rid of them.

I ride a mint all original except decals 2003 kdx 220R. Got it from a guy that had it stored dry. Great bikes, they aren’t perfect, but they do exactly what they were designed to do. My only complaint is it sits a little high, so I need to get a different spring and get the sag set. My original graphics “potato chipped” I just said Monday while watching another one of your videos that you never have a kdx.

Those purple fork boots are two hundred dollars now. Just for a bit of purple plastic. Nobody stocks them in Australia so they've got to get shipped in from Japan. The salesmen at Peter Stevens, couldn't be bothered to sell them in the last 30 years. Retail keeps trying to force us to only buy green or blue fork boots for this bike. Cmsnl keeps trying to force you to only buy white plastics for this bike. There's no support for this bike.
And it was too much for people to handle. The general public's lack of knowledge was exposed by this bike. Still to this day, the general public doesn't realise its a RACE bike. It caused SUCH controversy out there that Prince wrote a song about it. I think prince wrote a whole album about the KDX.

I love my KDX200. Replaced the broken power valve. Night and day difference. Definitely a ripper!
